Ambiance was the best thing....
Jerry E.

Food was decent, ate there two nights in a row before I figured out the drinks are watered down. I'm not a big drinker, but after three vodka drinks you think one would catch a buz. At little steep for my blood. Or maybe they just target people that are not locals.

Tasty, expensive, good service. I had hoped when I went that I could sit outside in hopes of watching the sunset. They seemed to bristle at that, as I was a single person dining alone, hemmed and hawed, and as a polite-people-pleaser often to my own discomfort...I just said seating wherever would be fine. The seafood is certainly fresh, and everything comes out as it is cooked so if you are with a big group entrees may come in waves. Deal with it, lol. I got the crab cakes, which had big chunks of crab god bless, with my sides being mashed potatoes and a seaweed salad (and surprise hushpuppies too). Everything was fresh and tasty, and my watermelon margarita was a great compliment to the meal. I was seated right next to the stage and had just gotten my food when the live music started. That was not ideal and loud and while the small child dancing and spinning around might have been cute for others, I got thwapped a few times by tiny sticky hands. If I'd known the music was going to start while I was there, I would have asked to be seated somewhere a bit further away. The parking lot is also very limited and tiny, so be aware of that if you are driving in. I walked from my airbnb so I didn't have an issue with that. The meal was good and I think I would have a better time if I came with another person. But it was pretty alright.

We are so happy we found AJ's! First, be advised the parking by the restaurant has very few spaces, but there is a larger lot across and down the street. I ordered grilled Mahi with fresh vegetables and their incredible crispy sweet potato waffle fries! My meal was delicious as was my hubby's, the ribeye with shrimp. He said it was an excellent cut and he was so pleased with his choice. We sat outside on the pier and were asked to not feed the birds walking around our feet, hoping for a dropped hush puppy! Our server Marina was friendly and helpful with the menu, and checked on us often to refill our drinks. We highly recommend AJ's when you're visiting Tybee!

Lovely staff that took care of us!! Food was very delicious and came out quickly. Pictured down below are the chicken sandwich and key lime pie. I enjoyed my dinner while my family got fish and seafood for dinner and were satisfied with their meal. I would come back here and would recommend you as well

Just two of use, but We went on a Saturday about 3:30 pm. No wait! Our waitress was fun and upbeat! Food was fresh and hot and timely! We sat outside to overlook the waterfront, and it was warm, but we sat in the shade with fans going, so it was perfect!

This was their homemade keylime pie.

I stopped for a drink and dessert to enjoy the view. The view was beautiful. The dessert was not. I ordered their homemade keylime pie. When it came at first glance I thought it might be pumpkin pie. It looked more brown than yellow. It was the shortest key lime pie I ever saw. And what was the red stuff all over the plate? Their attempt to sauce the dessert was a miss. The sauce design was a mess. I could not tell if the sauce was strawberry or cherry? It made the tasteless key lime pie even more bland. The sauce was everywhere on the plate so I tried to eat the filling without the graham cracker crust to avoid the sauce all over the plate. The filling just tasted old and tired. I could not finish it.

Service was super friendly and attentive. Food was unbelievable! Best food we had in our entire trip. We had some corn, captains platter with blackened shrimp, salad, chowder, and mussels. Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

Tourist trap: an establishment with the aim to attract tourists and their money, and typically providing poor yet overpriced services, entertainment, food, and other products. The first sign of trouble were the styrofoam cups, bowls, and plates, and plastic utensils. If charging $24-46 for "Dinners from the Steamer", there better be a tablecloth and proper tableware. My "Cadillac margarita" was Jose Cuervo and store-bought, bottled mix. The crab stew was gloop without crab meat. The french fries were the least unpleasant thing I had, but didn't come quickly from the under-heated frying oil. My wife's mussels were fresh and, in and of themselves, good, but they were served plain. No delicious Italian-cuisine-inspired tomato-based sauce for you! No baguette slices with whipped butter for you! They came with a single lemon wedge and a 2 oz plastic portion control cup of olive oil, butter and salt. This joint is a gloop-serving tourist trap. Go to Zunzibar instead! I'll post my five star review of Zunzibar soon.

If you're there in cold weather, position yourself in front of one of the blasting electric space heaters. I was there in January and didn't pay much attention to the outdoor seating, but did notice some fun-looking transparent geodesic dome tent-like thingies you can sit in. I had raw local oysters, falafel bites, and nachos. The oysters were fresh, chilled and served with interesting condiments. The falafel was sizzling hot and served with delicious tzatziki. I opted for South African sausage on the nachos and they were an interesting dining experience: made with sturdy potato chips instead of tortilla chips. The best part? The margaritas! I've been traveling around the Deep South for a month now and they are by far the best I've found.

Let me say there were several issues during this visit. First, they didn't have a common beer available, claiming they ran out of Corona. Now it is a Friday night and you're going into the weekend without one of the most popular beers - just crazy. Next I ordered the Low Country Boil, well after a few minutes another person comes to me as says they have no potatoes for the meal and offered extra sausage to make up the meal. I accepted that. When my meal came out, the server now tells me they owe me 2 more pieces of corn and they would quickly bring that to me. Guess what - never got them. The two pieces I did get were cold - I mean not fully boiled/cooked. Icy cold inside. Now we were with several other couples and one couple had to ask for their drinks a second time. Fact is their meal came out before their first drinks. I have to also mention the men's rooms. I was clearly hadn't been checked or cleaned in a while. Now let's face it, it got screwed up due to nasty guests, but staff really need to check it every so often. Folks I visit Tybee twice a year and there are plenty of options on the island. I think the Zunibar has lost my future business, as well as the 3 other couples we were with. If you choose here you have been warned. I hope you have a better visit.

We started with the margarita scallops, which was chunks of seared scallops soaked in margarita on toasted wonton chips with a black bean corn, salsa and drizzle with a local aioli, YUM! We also had their fried green tomatoes, which came with apricot horseradish sauce and aoli. Kiki had the catch of the day, which was a grilled piece of grouper atop mediterranean couscous and a medley of mediterranean vegetables. I had the prime rib, which came with lobster Chili Churri butter and a brandy peppercorn sauce. Both entrees were amazing. Now back to our bartender Christie. To say that she wears many hats is an understatement. She greeted us when we sat at the bar, by the way, did I mention that you can reserve seats at the bar? She described the menu items in a way that you only expect to find from a waiter in the finest restaurants in the world. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.
