The food was delicious. Everything was fresh. I ordered Basil Thai fried rice, Tamarind chicken wings and hot ginger tea. The Basil Fried Rice was hot, but not overwhelming. The Tamarind chicken wings were seasoned to perfection, it was crispy and moist. The ginger tea was refreshingly delicious, tastes like pure ginger. The atmosphere is casual with jazz music playing. It's very clean. The customer service was the best. We were greeted by a lady at the front immediately upon entering the restaurant and quickly seated. Great Thai restaurant. This is me and my wife's go to Thai restaurant in the Stuy! The backyard space is definitely a vibe and the food is good plus there's bunny rabbits! How can that not be a winning combination? The staff is super accommodating meaning that we were outside seated in the dead of summer so you know said mosquitoes were eating us alive. The wait staff then proceeded to put citronella candles out as well as spray for any bugs that were left in the area hence making our dining experience outside 10 times better. So, I had to make sure to do a review on my first time at A Gusto. I made a reservation via phone 1 week before coming. It was for a group of 10 ppl who were covid free for a group birthday dinner event. Thank goodness they allowed us to have 8pm reservations and they gave us the WHOLE backyard area. They even gave us permission to bring balloons, cupcakes and gifts for the group. We arrived on time and were greeted by Tao and the staff in such a friendly manner and the backyard area was cleaned up. They allowed us to put up decorations and extended our end time by an hour. They advised we would be charged $3.00 each plating fee and there will be a mandatory $25 per person meal order requirement. When we were finally seated after loads of backyard pictures by the tree. Tao immediately came out to us and took our orders and answered all our questions concerning spices. We ordered appetizers and dinner and they came out in a timely fashion. LISTEN UP the tamarind wings are absolutely fabulous. I mean melt in your mouth and NOT in your hands kinda delicious. I also ordered the thai fried rice and OMG I did not look at anyone else's plate like I usually do. When I finally did pay attention my girlfriend ordered a seafood appetizer and it looked like a dinner meal she would not give me eye contact. She knew I would come wagging my greedy tail and get denied. LOL! EVERYONE 1-10 ppl complimented the chef and we promised to visit again. The bill shocked us even more. I was assigned to tell each person what they owed but after we received the bill for $400 including beverages and tip we split the bill by 10 ppl. I thought I would be spending $80 or more so I gave Tao the extra. The food was so good 5 of them bought more food to go. I really hope I get to come back for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A Thai place with more than the usual pad thai and rice options! We started with crab ragoons, tamarind wings and the Thai cakes (similar to scallion pancakes). The apps were all delicious and the wings were my favorite! For my entree, I had the green curry spaghetti with fried chicken which was spectacular. The curry starts off sweet followed by the prefect hint of spicy in each bite. The chicken was thin and crispy, but the curry and spaghetti could stand on their own. While we did attempt to sit outside with the bunnies (yes, real rabbits!) and the intimate vibe, we got too hot before even ordering. This place is interesting. It seems to be largely a coffee shop and I came here for lunch. I think it would be incredible in the summer to come here for a glass of wine and sit outdoors, they have a lovely space and it looks like they do it up well. I will say that the prices are slightly higher for the food, given the average price for thai food, and while its not your typical street thai, its not all that upscale either to warrant the pricing. We tried the pad thai with king shrimp (its the only one that uses traditional thai noodles, the drunken noodles is made with the same skinny noodles which didnt seem authentic) and we had the pineapple fried rice- tasty, but a little overdone and a lot of turmeric. The pad thai was really good though, right mix of flavors, comes together well, really well prepared. I also came here for breakfast another time and I will say that while they try to keep the flavors as authentic as possible the amount that you get for the price you pay is not adequate. Which I find very unusual for a Thai restaurant. I would say that for a better Thai experience I would go to other restaurants I would come here maybe for drinks and apps in the evening or do I enjoy the outdoors space that they have during the summer. I will say that the pastries and the tea and coffee are good and I would be another good reason to come here - think of this one is a café than a restaurant really. I do recommend the desserts and the coffee/ tea here and perhaps the wine - will try and come back and do the wine on a summer evening. We were looking for food walking down Fulton ave and stumbled on this thai restaurant. We chose to sit outside and seated instantly. Our order: Basil rice- good flavors. Definitely try Eggplant and tofu- crispy pillowy tofu cooked with eggplant. Flavors were good. I recommend. Tofu is extremely hot so be careful of your 1st bite. I had to do the huffing noises and lean to the opposite side to not get burned. Everybody does this and still goes in for the second bite to burn the roof of their mouth. Fried veggie eggrolls- small, dry and split in half. Don't get this. Not worth the calories Veggie gyoza- I ordered steam not fried but I didn't want to return them to the kitchen. Guess she was too lazy to venture 8 feet away to accommodate patrons. They served 2 small spring rolls cut in half at $9 and the crab fried rice at $20 had almost zero crab in it. I love me some Thai food and stumbled on this restaurant while I was driving so I added it to my Yelp list. It's a very cozy restaurant with a beautiful backyard that has a big tree right in the center. We were unable to eat back there due to the mosquitoes after it being a rainy day so we sat inside. They don't have any hard liquor but the moscato I had did the job. It was very chilled and refreshing, I had the shrimp pineapple friend rice and she had the chicken fried rice. It's the best I've had in Brooklyn so far. There were green peppers, string (green) beans, and onions in it. I can't wait to make a visit to the location to dine in. A Gusto is a new addition to the Bed-Stuy hood providing affordable Thai food cuisine, specialty desserts, good ol' dranks and just an overall, artsy, eclectic vibe to Fulton Street. A friend of mines chose this place for lunch and we were so happy to dine in. The place wasn't too packed with folks so we were able to get the undivided attention from the waitress. Spacious seating is available for group dining and outdoor seating is also available for spring and summer nights. Also, they have lunch specials which was a plus for us (or anyone who doesn't like to break their bank). Lunch special were priced around $9.95. I chose the pad Thai with tofu along with a warm chai tea latte. My pad Thai was definitely good. It was piping hot and had a right mixture of spices enhanced with peanuts, scallions, eggs and tofu. It was also an abundance of it so I had some leftovers to go with. But honestly, the warm chai tea latte was my favorite. Even though, it was a drink, it stole the show. It was that delicious. So far I've only been here twice. Went the other day and the food was great so I need to write a review! I had the tofu pad Thai and it was very good! I ordered it with extra sauce which I will do from now on. My dad order the a gusto spaghetti drunken. I didn't try it but he said it was really good and had a decent amount of fried fish. He ate the entire thing haha. Mom got the chicken satay steak and again, it was great. She ate the whole thing. Next time she said she would order another side of the sauce because one wasn't enough. Ok, i love this hidden gem so much. If you ever find yourself in Bed Stuy off the Nostrand Ave A/C stop, stroll down Fulton St & pop into A Gusto. I have been there probably 5 times since i checked it out in August. They have delicious, really affordable Thai food, delicious caffeinated beverages, AWESOME goodies like cookies and cakes, and wonderful servers. Did i mention the perfect nook of an outdoor space? A big old tree, lights strung, plenty of space to stretch out without bumping your neighbor. I have gone to this place for birthday dinner, family outings, brunch, happy hour, and it's kid friendly too. Slightly over cooked but still good. - Bean sprouts were fresh and firm. - Ask for extra crushed peanuts! Very little in the order. - Noodles weren't greasy but it lacked in flavor quite a bit. Definitely ask for chopsticks because it wasn't in the bag. The portion was actually big enough for two but keep in mind there's only 3 Shrimp. This place is great: on par with the Thai restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. The atmosphere is great, there's a garden to relax in during the day, and the noodle dishes are delicious. If you want a cafe, the coffee is also legit: the espresso machine is what you'd typically find in a dedicated cafe, and the pulls are quite good. This has become my go-to restaurant when a friend wants to grab a bite nearby. Actually, in all honesty they have some of the best green curry I have ever had outside of Thailand (That is saying a lot I stayed in Thailand for a month) Im giving a 4 star because the other "fusion" dishes they serve didn't work for me. The worst Thai food I have had thus far in Brooklyn. I tried A Gusto because it was one of the few places that delivers to my home through DoorDash. The calamari was clearly not squid. I get suspicious when I do not see tentacles. I suspect that they may have been intestines. The Drunken Noodles were not flat noodles but instead spaghetti noodles plus the dish tasted bad. I ordered from here and I was very pleased with how quick the response was and how fast my food came .but I was very disappointed with my food . I had the massaman curry with tofu and I had the Tom yum soup . The curry was so liquid ish , it was literally like soup . It didn't have any onions or other veggies just tofu and potatoes . It was soup with potatoes and tofu basically . The Tom yum soup was good . I was just annoyed that my liquid soup aka massaman curry and small rice and a soup was 27 dollars . I got the shrimp pad Thai..... worst Thai food EVER. My noodles were VERY dry and sticking together as if they just warmed them up in the microwave because they were day old noodles. The peanuts , bean sprouts and scallions were not even mixed in the pad Thai. All the ingredients were just sitting on the top as if they couldn't be mixed together because the noodles were so damn old and stuck together. The scallions was not even chopped up, just one whole scallion plopped on the side! No lime was provided. The fried shrimp was not freshly fried and way over cooked. Tasted like left over fried food warmed up. I also got a side order of spring rolls , same thing, burnt and over fried. I was beyond disappointed with this entire meal.
