Big box stores I checked all wanted near 2000.00 for the special ext. door that the gentleman I care for needed, they beat that price to death, and it's a great quality!! We were referred (we originally thought in a smart aleck way) by a nearby glass shop, where I had gone to get a replacement pane of glass for our exterior door. They called and said they couldn't help us after all and I said "where would you go if you had this issue?" and they said "a door store". Turns out "A Door Store" WAS a nearby business, so we went to see them. From the first moment they were very helpful and suggested the best way to accomplish our door replacement goals. They gave us an actionable quote, ordered exactly the door we wanted, pre-installed the doggy door component that exactly fit our needs and then came and did a quality installation job - even arriving exactly at the time scheduled. I've never been so horrified by a "community" business. I live on Race St and the residents of the homes here use the alley to access our parking garages. The door store is CONSTANTLY blocking the alley with their big rigs where we would exit onto Auburn street. After an innumerable amount of times I witnessed this I decided to call the business. The first time I called and spoke to the owner, I kindly asked that they be considerate of us who live in the homes in the alley to not block our exit with their trucks. I was reciprocated with entitlement that we should use the side alley that would exit us onto conaway. I let it go. Then again, the big rig was not only blocking the whole alley exiting auburn street, but now the side alley as well. I called, and they were incredibly rude and said to just use the side alley, ma'am YOU BLOCKED THAT TOO! Third times a charm, today I told the guy in the big rig who blocked the entire exit that we couldn't get through, his response was "fuck you I have freedom to park where I want!" Really mature. LEGITIMATELY ALL WE WANT IS TO BE ABLE TO EXIT FROM OUR HOMES. You do NOT own the alley, or the roads. You are NOT COMMUNITY FRIENDLY. It doesn't shock me that your last review was from a mortified customer, when clearly you can't respect the immediate community around you. I'll be letting grass Valley PD know of this matter, because not only is the neighborhood frustrated by your actions, now we don't know what violence you'd be willing to respond with after the correspondence from your truck driver today. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Horrible service, and Unfinished product given. Not to mention you could get in an accident in there traffic jam hole infested parking lot. Had to go back three times to get just one simple door with hardware put on. And I'm still given an unfinished product. To be the customer paying and be told we have the hardware when we don't! And then I come back and they just hand me the hardware and then I come back again for them to only put part of the hardware on. Now they tell me I had part of the hardware this whole time. Just admitted you made a mistake and finish the job. Lost my service and $$$$$ DEFINITELY WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

I was looking up the door store's number to order some new screen doors; I read the one negative review and am compelled to now right my own even though it is a pain. We have used the door store on three different occasions dating back to 2008 and as recently as last year. They have been very good people to work with. I had fixed ideas of what I wanted and in those cases where I was making a bad decision they took the time to explain why my choice was the wrong one, and now I am very pleased with the doors they recommended. An excellent local store with perfectly delightful and helpful staff. I'm a home-owner with some practical experience and I've had excellent results getting several doors from them--folding, sliding, hinged, interior, and exterior--as I remodel my home. I value their advice on such things as sizing, materials, post-installation treatment, etc. The one negative review is so strange that I wondered if it was about a completely different store, as not one complaint in it corresponds to my experience: in fact, exactly the opposite. When I needed a kickplate for my door, the people at A Door Store spent a lot of time with me, helping me to figure out whether I would be happy with a product in a standard size that they could sell me, or whether I needed to get something custom made at another store to fit the exact size of my door. They concluded that I needed something custom made, and they cheerfully referred me to another store that could cut sheet metal to the exact dimensions I needed.
