Years ago I had installed some woodpecker deterrent cables on my chimney. It was awkward getting on the two story roof to attach the tops, and then using an extension ladder to reach up to attach the bottoms. When we had the house painted a few years ago the painter took them down, and we hadn't had woodpeckers around so I just stored the cables in the garage. But this sprng the buggers came back. At 79 years old there's now way I should be getting on the roof, or an extension ladder. Pat was able to come out and very quickly get them installed for a very reasonable price. Called Herbert's to clean out my rain gutters - you know getting ready for the rainy season coming in a couple of months vs. waiting for the rain to come first. He came out within a few days - gave me a very fair bid on the spot and I asked him when he could come and clean them out. He said, "how about right now!" Really? He said, "I'm here!" My gutters were gunked up really bad and birds had put acorns in them and little oak trees were growing out of the gutters. Called to fix a leak I discovered after I purchased my new home. Pat came out and got on my very high roof and found the issue. Pat and his partner serviced my house in Chicago Park for the first time this week. I couldn't be happier with the service. Pat cleaned the roof, gutter system and made a repair to a section of gutter. Pat also found a few singles which had loosened and slid down the roof which he repaired. I would likely be facing a much larger bill down the road for a leaky roof had he not fixed the issue. The price was more than fair. Our roof was sadly in need of moss removal and cleaning. Pat and David had done a nice job on a house we were building down the road and it had just needed a lot of pine needles to be cleaned. I was impressed with the job they did that I knew I had the right business to tackle our house and outbuilding, which both had moss and debris that needed to be removed. They showed up as scheduled, spent the majority of the day cleaning the roofs manually with special brushes so as not to damage the shingles, but effectively clean off the moss! When we called for an appointment, there was a wait of a couple of weeks. Do yourself a favor...wait. They are worth it. Pat got up on my very tall roof to fix a worn out gasket around a leaking vent. He then checked my entire roof for any other issues. Herbert's Overhead Maintainance Grass Valley CA I used this service in the Fall of 2013 to clear gutters and asked about fixing the small roof on the back porch. In month or so I got a response to inspect and in another month I got a quote and said that was good, Winter happened and then I tried to schedule a work date, It would take a month to get a return call but I was assured he would do the job and other work I needed done. I would call and it would take a month to get a return call but finally In July 2014 ,the office scheduler said he doing either job. There seemed to be a lack of good business communication and regard for the customer. Mr.Herbert might do good work but I will never know. read more
