This is my second time eating at this restaurant located near 1604/I35 and when we went in , it was freaking packed! Now that's how you know its good asian food! I was craving pho and bun bo hue so i asked the server if I could order pho noodles( with meatballs and steak) but in bun bo hue broth. I've tried to order this same meal at different pho restaurants and they won't make it! i was helllllla excited when he was like sure.BROWNIE POINTS! The broth was slightly spicy and the noodles just soaked up the juices...i lubbbs it! Overall good experience. Will prob come again if i'm in the area read more

A Dong - bun bo hue with pho noodles - Vietnamese Near Me - Selma, Texas

Was recommended by a friend if we were to visit to try them out. Ordered variety of appetizers and main courses...some were good and some were not.... Pho Ap Chao Beef - the best dish that we ordered. Beef was on point and the noodles were not as oily compared to others I've tried. Bo luc lac- beef lacked flavor and was a bit tough Com Chien Dac biet- pretty normal combination fried rice..I would order again Bo Bo Hue- I wouldn't ordered it again Goi Cuon- the rice paper was starting to have that dry feel, which I assume they were pre made. House Special Shrimp Eggrolls- pretty good, but for nearly $13...I'll pass next time. There was more that was ordered, but overall not bad. However service could be more attentive...once all our food was out Noone visited us only till to drop of our check. read more

After searching near and far...I have finally found a pork vermicelli dish that I am seriously addicted to. I have been disappointed so many times in so many cities with fatty, flavorless pork. I am so happy to have found this place so close to home. The pieces of pork they use are meaty and charred perfectly. The fish oil has excellent seasoning and the cucumbers and sprouts are always fresh. This place gets 2 thumbs up from me. I will continue to frequent this place for my favorite Bun dish. Thanks A Dong!! read more

So sorry to say that it was not a good culinary experience. Staff was pleasant but the food left little to be desired. I played it safe and had chicken fried rice and some small funky pork egg rolls.Bland bland bland! My friends had grilled pork vermecilli and they too were disappointed. The pork was fatty and dry. My friend said "It's mall food what do you expect?" We will not be returning. read more

This restaurant hits home for my husband and I. As new residents to SA, we were eager to find all the delicious local spots and one that suits our Vietnamese taste. After we visited countless Vietnamese restaurants across SA, we concluded that A Dong serves delicious and authentic food across their menu. We usually order the salt and pepper shrimp (Tom ram moui) and fried pork intestines. Both are delicious and calls for a great family style meal. Overall, delicious and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. read more

Underrated!!!!! Are you kidding me yelp!? The crappy Vietnamese that I have consumed around Texas has been a tragedy. My significant other and me hesitated coming here bc of all of our horrible experiences... So we arrived, were greeted, seated and served water. We reviewed the menu and I were 1000000% skeptical as there were Chinese dishes on the menu. That is usual a great sign that the place will be a disappointment. I was so happy to hear Vietnamese being spoken - thus felt the confidence to order some pho! I always order pho tai, or tofu w veggies both make me a happy lil lady. Enjoy, but please don't over crowd our lovely pho spot....aka nourishing hole after tj max shopping. Broth was stellar, service was perfect and prices were fair. Win, win, win. read more

I had the General Joe's chicken lunch special, it was okay but not great. It had a lot of sauce if you're in to that but it didn't have much flavor. The menu showed a chili pepper next to the description letting you know it's supposed to be spicy but I didn't think it had any spice what so ever. The fried rice was also a little bland. The restaurant it self was clean and the staff was friendly but I don't think I'll be back. read more

Please avoid this place. Food was awful. Menus were dirty. Restroom was dirty. Cashier was not friendly.

Always an awesome spot to hit. I always order 113. Pho with raw beef & beef balls to go. Lots of food and always so tasty. Lots of add ins. I walked in and ordered takeaway and it was ready in 10 minutes. read more

This place is little and there was a lady who had ordered take out she came back twice because a mix up in the order. The chicken lo main was pasta noodles that were not cooked well. Very bland chicken not seasoned at all I doused it in hot chili oil just to give it some flavor. The pork glass noodles were good but comes with a vinegar sauce that is used also with the appetizer rolls. Oh and good luck getting any sort of customer service we ordered are drinks and couldn't get them till the main meal came out. We asked for hot oil and got a tiny bit not even enough for both of us to use. Had to flag someone down and he got to me after seeing me flag him down went to the back came back out a few minutes later and asked if we needed anything I told him we needed more hot oil. This place is not organized not that clean and they do not have booths down six feet they set people side by side here it should be shut down for dine in. read more

We came here for the weekend and wanted Vietnamese food. The uber driver recommended this place. Compared to other places we've been to, I think this place is just ok. The spicy beef noodle broth is a bit weak since it was too sweet and it did not have much favor to it. The beef was not very tendered. The pho is decent. I also tried the ice coffee and it was good. read more

This was my first visit here in many years, and it was mostly good. This order was to go and I found the menu a little hard to navigate, as it is not separated Chinese/Vietnamese, and has no good copy online to preview. The Vietnamese spring rolls were outstanding, they were fresh with lettuce, bean sprouts, cilantro, and cucumber on the side. I had 5 spice duck that didn't have the tough frozen texture that you find at some places. The duck was on the bone and about perfect and was accompanied by an unneeded thin sauce, and a really nice pickled cabbage. The only miss step was the hot and sour soup that was cloyingly sweet and too thick with corn starch, most of that went down the disposal. The counter help felt mostly mechanical and I didn't feel like there was a smile behind the COVID mask. We will be back for the spring rolls for sure but never again on the soup. read more

If I were only rating the quality and taste of the food, I would be giving a four star review. Unfortunately the food does not make up for the AWFUL customer service here. I continue to eat here because the food is absolutely to die for. Authentic, delicious pho with clear, flavorful broth and choice meat. Vermicelli bowls packed with flavor lots of noodles. The Vietnamese egg rolls are one of my favorites - so crunchy and delicious. But if I crave the food, I most often order to-go because eating here puts a damper on my mood. The front desk staff (usually one very old man) ignores you when you walk in. It's impossible to know if or when you'll get seated. The waitstaff is disinterested and rude. We once came in about a half an hour before closing (plenty of time to order and eat before closing time!) and our waitress opened the conversation with, "we're getting ready to close, so..." Just plain rude. If you want delicious Vietnamese food you'll get it here, just don't expect a great dining experience. read more

My husband and I USUALLY love it here as we've had good experiences, but today we had to leave after a few bites of our food. Which the food itself was awesome, but the restaurant and our waters smelled HEAVILY of dead dog. The smell was so bad that we had to stop eating and leave... even had our neighbors from another table leave because of the nasty smell. Won't be going back unfortunately because of this.. read more

Food was pretty good, my son and his girlfriend enjoy going there often but service could be better. Waitress was very soft spoken and hard to understand. We typically had to ask for refills and they didn't clear plates like they do most places. They didn't bring us our bill either, we had to get it when we went up to the register. A little disappointing in the regard . read more

Recommend not going there for Pho! Too much salty!!! They get new one... still salty soup! They do not know how to properly cooking!

Their crispy calamari salad and honey walnut shrimp is so delicious!!! I love this restaurant

Definitely the only Vietnamese restaurant that I have found to satisfy my stomach!! Been to multiple pho restaurants in SA but nothing comes close to this restaurant in quality and quantity. I will continue coming here for all my tastebuds. read more

This restaurant has some of the authentic Vietnamese dishes that's actually pretty on point in regards to flavor. The pho is very flavorful and HOT (temp wise). Some restaurants will have the soup hot but then it gets room temp warm quick, I hate that. My fiancé got the hu tieu and I honestly didn't expect the broth to be delicious. Most places focuses on one broth and the others are usually just "eh". But the hu tieu broth was packed with flavor and so clean it was refreshing. I almost made him switch with me! The portion size for the hu tieu though was a bit disappointing. I wish they had difference sizes to order. Their shaken beef (bo luc lac) is great as well. Kind of pricey for the amount they give. Another favorite of ours is their salty fish and chicken fried rice. Gotta say, this is a gem in central Texas. And this is coming from an Arlington-native where Vietnamese restaurants are on each block, lol. read more

This place is my go to for many things: When I'm missing my relatives - Many asian families frequent this location! When I'm feeling sick or weirdly cold - Nothing like chicken pho to make you feel a little better! When I want really great pho -They're one of the better pho places in San Antonio! I've come here several times by myself, with my mom, with my brother, with my date, with friends etc. Everyone loves the soups here! And on those days where I'm not in the mood for soup, I order vermicelli. Their Vermicelli is good enough! I recommend their chicken pho, though my boyfriend prefers their beef (as does my mom). Their fried rice is pretty good, it's not as oily or salty as other places. The bbq ribs from their appetizer menu takes a while to prepare, so be prepared to eat it in conjunction to your entree. They serve Tsingtao here if you're into that. Their spring roll is a cute appetizer to share. Friend dumplings are alright if you have a lot of people. Their sampler is amazing and way too much for just two. The staff have always treated us nicely. I'm very fortunate to have this on my side of San Antonio. Find me here when I'm being needy. read more

Yeah, no. It was hot and humid both inside and out. They wouldn't allow us to sit outside where we could at least catch a breeze. The bathrooms were disgusting. The waiter was rude. They charged dinner prices for a dish on the lunch menu because they were some how "out" of the lunch portion... I'll let you figure that one out. "The State of Texas does not allow them to serve chicken pho with shrimp." I'll let you figure that one out, too. I definitely won't be back. I cannot fathom how they were voted best Chinese food 2 years in a row. read more

I went to A Dong with my cousin yesterday and we had a great time! Once we arrived we were immediately greeted and seated at one of the booths. For drinks we got the lime soda which was delish! For food, I got the Com Bi Cha Thit Nuong which is a rice plate with shredded beef, pork cake and grilled pork. My cousin got the Bun Thit Nuong which is vermicelli noodles with grilled pork. First of all, the food was delicious the only thing I recommend is cutting the grilled pork into strips because they cut the pork into thick big rectangles but it's not a huge issue. We also got the Chew Chao shrimp egg rolls which were fried to perfection and the shrimp was savory as well. While we were eating I finished my lime soda and our waiter immediately asked if I needed a refill. (Which was free) I loved that! I have a habit of drinking a lot of fluids while I eat so free refills are a great thing to have. Other than that, we had a great time and will be definitely coming back when we are in the Forum! read more

Great food and very quick service!! Wife appreciated the substitution of rice noodles. Friendly staff as well.

I've been to this place maybe once or twice when I used to live in San Antonio. I've been coming to here more often now since this is my girl friend's family's go-to restaurant for family gatherings. I've had several dishes at this restaurant. My favorite one so far has been the Shaken Beef (Bo Luc Lac) and their chicken wings. My girlfriend's family felt bad for me when we went out to eat because I'm allergic to shellfish and couldn't eat any of the usual things they ordered so they got some wings for me. I was a little disappointed by their fried rice. It tasted pretty dry to me. I think they should redo their fried rice recipe. This isn't a bad place to go if you want to have a small gathering. I don't know of any good Asian restaurants in San Antonio but this is probably one of the better ones that I've been to. Also the prices are good. You can feed a lot of people for a good price. Some other notes I have about this place are: -They can use a TV somewhere in the restaurant -The patio area is nice but I've never seen anyone eat back there. It's a great place for smokers though read more

Did someone hear my plea for a hotpot in San Antonio?? I think so!!! Tried this place out with two witty gays and my homegirl and my sidekick seanie. Honestly, I picked this place out BECAUSE of the name and that fact that I was having dinner with my gay friend. Haha he enjoyed the joke as well. First things first the decor is about as asian as its gonna get. But as we were being seated to our table I saw the most beautiful contraption on a booth table, a hotpot set up among 4 people!! YES! finally a restaurant that has this amazing idea. So what did I do? Ordered #123, substituted the squid for more meat, subbed out the yellow noodles for the white thing noodles and voila! Cold weather and sick tummy remedy. I was bit rusty and couldn't start the propane gas burner but the waiter was more than friendly and helped us out. The meats and veggies were more than accommodating for the 4.5 of us. One request: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD GOLDEN MUSHROOMS to the veggie plater to cook? Other than that, the meat plate had shrimp, fish ball, and steak. Veggie: tofu cubes, chopped spinach and chopped bok choy and of course the spicy sauce to top off if you want a kick in your teeth. The pot was divided into two slots, one for the spicy broth and the other not. Each had tomatoes, green onion and onion already cooked tender inside each. It was heaven in my mouth. More than anything it was just good to have a hot pot in a while. I wish they had one by seaworld. It's like the west side of San Antonio is constantly having to travel for good food! What gives!? I do enjoy my fast food but my tummy needs semi healthy too. No military discount but they have a huge buddah statue holding up a fortune cookie that is MORE than photo taking worthy. read more

Service, atmosphere, drinks and food are pretty good. My family and I go here probably once a month or so. Everything we've tried so far (fried rice, various phos, various soups, and various appetizers) has been good. There isn't a wow factor to it, but it works for daily quick experiences. If you're the type that likes the "spice rack" with your Asian-type soups, they do not have that here. read more
