The staff member (specifically the younger girl with the mask who is always rude) repeatedly asked me for a tip, which made me uncomfortable. I always tip and usually leave around 20%, but I don't think it's appropriate to pressure customers for one especially when basic service like refilling water or bringing the check wasn't provided. Was in the area and was craving vietnamese food! The menu is very extensive with many dishes! The service was great! Food came out relatively fast, especially the appetizers. We ordered the fresh spring rolls; the peanut sauce was super flavorful! The combination pho was filling with great portions of meat and seafood! The beef and broccoli had a lot of flavor, and the duck was cooked well! They were also noce enough to pack the leftover pho in a soup container for us. Mom and I had a great time at A Dong. We arrived just after lunch and had our choice of tables. We were able to order our drinks immediately, and given plenty of time to check the menu. I already new I was going for the combination bun. In the meantime, I got an order of summer rolls (goi cuon) which had both thin slices of pork and shrimp. It was deliciously fresh. My mom ordered the combination lo mein, which was well seasoned. Plenty of meats to go with the noodles. My bun also came shortly after we finished the appetizer. It came with fried pork and spring roll. No issues ordering an extra serving of the Vietnamese dipping sauce (nuoc cham). The server check on us pretty regularly. Service was great. I lived in LA for almost 10 years and found some of the best Pho restaurants, and this is now my favorite!!! Just moved to San Antonio and I must say this place is just as good!!! I ordered the rare steak pho to go and the meat was fresh, the broth was piping hot, as it should be, and they had all the delicious basil, sprouts, jalapeños, etc. to go with it. My husband and I went here 2 days back to back when we were sick and it made us feel a lot better! This is definitely my new Pho place! Side note: their pho is better than their ramen, in our opinion. Service is also way nicer than other places I have been to and timely. You know this place is good when all the Asians come here! We came here on Saturday at 11 to try it out for the first time. The service was friendly and the food was really good! I had the lunch special with the honey chicken and vermicelli noodles. It came with an egg roll and a soup. I got egg drop and it was really good. My friend also got a coffee and it was a drip coffee situation and it was nice and fresh. Dining with the local Vietnamese & Asian community is always a good find. This is a frequent spot for us and what keeps bringing us back is the squid salad; served on a bed of chopped romaine, tomato medallions, chargrilled onions AND pickled onions. It's fresh and it's savory. Service and entrees are delivered to the table rather quickly so if you are in a hurry to get some shopping done in the area, this is a good spot. My one recommendation for the last two stars is overall cleanliness and a design upgrade of the restrooms. I just wish these could be nicer. I love this restaurant. I've been eating here off and on for almost 10 years. My favorite thing to order is the fried squid. It is so delicious and delicately fried. It's hard to explain. It's special, fresh, and always arrives quickly. It's not like calamari at all, which I also love. It's a little sweet paired with the lime and salt you squeeze over it and balances so well with the salad and rice. This place is located in the Forum shopping center next to Orange Leaf. They are currently closed on Wednesday just a heads up. Pho is good anytime but especially if it's cold outside. We really enjoy coming here. The place is always clean. Employees are nice and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating here. They have both booth and tables. The floor freaks me out every time I walk in. It is shiny and I always think it is wet. So I always check the floor when I go in. My wife and I shared a plate. Plenty of food for sharing. We had the special lomein plate. We like this dish, it has a smoky flavor to it. It has plenty of vegetables and meats in the mix. We also got a couple of fried egg rolls. We also had the two other dishes come to our tables, unfortunately I didn't get the names of the dishes, but it was all delicious. One had the wider egg noodles and very tasty. The other dish had the noodles fried, which looked really cool and it was tasty as well. We always get good service here and it was not very busy the night we went. If you had caught me nearly 100 pounds ago, I would have eaten these all! Just thinking about them makes me want one. But, alas I couldn't even finish the pho, & it too was really good. I brought home 3/4's of my pho. (Lucky me!) The rare beef was not old, hard or over cooked. It was perfect. We requested extra basil, cilantro & limes - & they did not disappoint. Catfish hotpot is where it's at. It's flavored with fish sauce, which, if you've never had it, is a very strong flavor and tbh has an off putting smell...but it's delicious. Do not be fooled! It doesn't taste like what it smells like lol, it's really good. Salty, a bit sweet and the catfish is so tender it falls apart with a spoon. The chicken dish was subtly flavored with salty black bean sauce. The vegetable tempura was snow peas and asparagus, fried nicely with sweet chili sauce. I really wanted to love this place because we were out looking to try a new place for my daughter's birthday but my best experience from here was the home made lemonade. I asked what kind of lemonade they served and the waiter gave me a weird and nervous laugh that just made me think they had inexperienced staff. I ordered a seafood plate that I thought should have just been amazing and instead it tasted like seafood had no flavor. Rice tasted like it was made separate from the seafood. I tried adding soy sauce and different other sauces with separate bites and just nothing tasted good with it. Disappointed I stopped trying and just thought next day left over would be better. Nope, just a huge disappointment after another. I thought the waitress that came by was a little more attentive than the nervous teenage boy but even then she didn't pick up any of our plates up when we were done eating!
