    The food I couldn't get a to-go box for
    Cassie C.

The service was poor from the beginning. When I walked in, I told the hostess "Table for one." She said "sit anywhere." I chose a 2 person table (smallest they have) and she just tossed the menu on the table and asked what I wanted. I ordered a water and sat down. When my water arrived I was ready to order, I ordered the Sesame chicken with fried rice. My waiter brought my food out in 20 minutes (not bad wait) but I was also the 3rd party in and everyone had already received their orders. The sesame chicken portion was large. They were skimpy on the rice. This was the worse sesame chicken I've had in San Antonio. My waiter checked on me once while eating and never checked on me again, which was fine until I got full and needed a to-go box. The waiter entered the dining area once he saw people enter the restaurant. As he walked pass me I asked for a box to which he said, "please hold." I held for 20 minutes. I had to get back to work and couldn't wait any longer. Admitted, I was likely not going to eat it in the future. I got up from my table and cashed out with the hostess that sat me. I didn't leave any tip as none was earned. I will never go back to this restaurant.

Rice, kabob and spring rolls. My fave!
    Donna D.

I've been coming here for over 30 years because they have theeeeeee best Vietnamese fried spring rolls in SA. Also because I once knew the original owners. They have not changed this recipe and I'm glad about that. So crispy and filled with so much meat. The kabob is definitely cooked over an open flame, it has a nice charcoal taste and very tender. The rice is a bland mixture of turmeric and coconut, it's not flavorful or flavorless. But I want the kabob and the spring rolls, so the rice is just there for a little razzle dazzle. I still eat it though, make no mistake haha. Don't forget to grab a jasmine tea to accompany any meal. It never disappoints. Since I know the secret the recipe I always make it at home because it's that dang good.

    spring rolls!!!
    Rasiel G.

Went in to pick up some lunch, spring rolls. For roughly $12 these were super delicious & filling. They were crispy & crunchy. I got green lettuce, not white stem. I was able to fully enjoy them with some cilantro. Will be going back to treat the family.

Chicken Lemongrass with rice noodles. Really the only thing you should order besides the Vietnamese spring rolls. Delicious!

After telling the waiter my day was going good he noticed me fighting for my life, head down on the table, and made a point to ask if I was okay again to which I admitted having a massive headache. He brought extra water and suggested soda to relieve the headache and later brought small lollipops. After my tea, pho, and candy, I felt a lot better. Not the first time I received above and beyond customer service experience here and certainly won't be the last. Thank you Peter!

The restaurant appeared clean and well maintained. Service was prompt and friendly, although attentiveness tapered off once the meal was served. It seemed like the staff had shifted their focus toward preparing for the evening dinner crowd. After reading several recommendations, I ordered the Saigon Special since it included grilled pork, chicken, shrimp, and a Vietnamese egg roll. It seemed like a great way to sample several of their specialties. I also started with the fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. The spring rolls were enormous and easily large enough to share. The Saigon Special was equally generous, with a substantial portion of vermicelli noodles underneath the grilled meats. Everything tasted fresh, and each protein was cooked well, but none of the individual components really stood out. The meal leaned more toward generous portions and good value than bold or memorable. Overall, it was an enjoyable lunch with friendly service and excellent portion sizes. While I wasn't blown away by the flavors, I appreciated the freshness and value. I'd definitely come back for the pho, which I remember having a flavorful broth and a generous portion of meat on my previous visit. With several good Vietnamese restaurants in the area, though, I'll probably continue trying other spots before making this one a regular stop.

The bowls were so refreshing and delicious and the pho was perfect. I can't wait to go back! Give this place a try, be aware the parkings tight, don't get overwhelmed or thrown off find the parking get inside and be ready for some amazing food from amazing people! Side note: everytime the older Vietnamese women came to clear our plates as we finished she told us good job for fishing our food and tbh it felt so warming and homey without thought

I am afraid that I must change my review of Pho Kim Long. I am sad to do so because this was one of…read moremy favorite local restaurants for over a decade. However, my most recent encounter has soured me completely, and I think I will never return. My favorite dish here was something that did not appear on the menu, Bo Tai Chanh salad. Even though it was not listed, they would whip it up at my request. It consists of beef cappaccio on an iceberg lettuce salad with Vietnamese vegetables and a fish sauce based dressing. Tonight they refused my order. What makes this refusal all the more frustrating is that Pho Bo Tai Chanh (the soup version) is listed on the menu and promoted as one of the favorite dishes. All that was needed, to meet my request, was to cut up half a head of lettuce and throw the non-liquid ingredients of the soup on top. Every restaurant should remember the customer is always right. Their only purpose is to meet their customers' requests to the best of their ability. I understand when a kitchen cannot meet requests with the ingredients or equipment they have. For example, I always call 24 hours ahead to order Peking Duck because the traditional methods require that amount of time to prepare the dish. Or I remember being refused a request to have my meat served rare when the restaurant had already cooked all its meat to medium rare using sous vide. I don't expect the kitchen to do the impossible. But every kitchen must be ready to meet special request whether health related like peanuts, shrimp, gluten, salt, carbohydrates, etc. or relate to tastes or ethics like vegetarian, vegans, seafood, etc. To fail one's customers is the first step to being one of the numerous restaurants to fail and become irrelevant. Any restaurant that refuses to meet reasonable requests fails the fundamental test for good service and does not deserve to be patronized. P.S. I end up going down the road to Yaya's Thai Restaurant (another local restaurant) to get something that met my tastes and preferences.

All things in my mind brought this down from a 5 star to a 4. Clean up the tables is definitely something the restaurant has control over. We sat down, and the acetone smell dissipated so either I was use to it or they turned down a shared ventilation system. The food though was the big surprise! It was excellent. We ordered the Special House Bun with beef, pork, chicken, shrimp and a crispy egg roll. All the proteins were cooked perfectly. The real winner was the lemongrass Banh mi with once again perfectly proportioned ingredients. We also ordered the fresh spring roll, which never came but wasn't missed except that they did try to charge us for but did remove them. They definitely have some work to make this a comfortable dining experience but I wouldn't let it stop you from trying some phenomenal Vietnamese food.
