Scott the new owner has fare pricing, honest inspections, excellent customer service, professional, responsive, respectful, exceeded all my expectations. I knew there was a problem and explained that I had a new garage door opener installed less than a year ago and the chain had come off track because the knot that the previous technician at a different garage door company had tied in the cable had come lose and now the door doesn't go up or down. The previous company wouldn't honor their labor warranty and would charge me $45 just for coming out to look at it and assured me it was a broken spring that would cost $200. When I called A-Better Choice Scott explained that he would charge $75 to come out but, he honored a coupon on their company website and came out to do a free inspection and liberation and agreed to tell me the issue for free so I would know what's wrong and I could make a decision. True to his word Scott came out for no charge he inspected the door, and lubricating every squeaky hinge as he proceeded to point out all of the shortcuts the previous tech had taken and explained what needed to be done to fix the issue. Just as I thought the cable had loosened, but I decided to have Scott fix problem even though it cost $15 dollars more than the previous garage door company. In return I got an unbelievably quiet door and a get ready for it......TWO (2) YEAR WARRANTY" on the labor. My advice to anyone needing garage door work is to avoid the quick, cheap company. One spring broke from my garage door and I had one company come to give me a quote and quoted me at least $265 to start and the guy would have to see if anything else might be wrong then it would be more. The guy was full of $&@# A friend of mine referred Scott and I was happy I called him. He was on time on the day we agreed on. He took a quick look at my broken spring and the rest of the door and immediately gave me a FINAL quote. No BS. Just how I like it. He replaced my broken spring and replaced the older one that was there too and charged me only for the price of 1 spring! On top of that he did some tuning and reinforcements to the whole assembly at no extra charge. Scott is fantastic! Two friends of mine had Scott work on their doors and he came highly recommended by both. I can see why! Called for a quote to replace a busted spring on my garage door (residential). He asked a few questions and gave me a quote. Said he could be out around noon on the same day! My friend referred Scott to me. She said he was honest and reasonable. I didn't believe her. He was not only honest and reasonable, he was funny and nice. He did a thourough job and was here and gone in less than an 1/2 hour. He answered/returned my calls promptly. Scott was fantastic to work with. Called at 10am and he was out to our house by 2pm and done by 3pm. Replaced two springs with larger ones because of a heavy door (and he tested them to make sure they were enough but too much) and he also checked all of the components of the door including the cables, track and the opener itself to make sure everything was tight and working properly. Refreshing to see someone care about their work and not just perform the task at hand but also go the extra mile to make sure that everything was in good shape. For years I've just been calling "the number on the door" but after replacing the spring 3 times in the last 10 years - something told me it was time for a change and I'm glad I did. The garage door spring broke on a Saturday night so I called the number on the sticker for the door that was most recently repaired. Frankly, I didn't expect a call back until Monday. Scott's suprised me by contacting me within minutes to ensure that my job was not a rush and he scheduled our appointment for Monday morning. Scott was on time, outgoing, and up front. Wow! Scott was amazing! My double garage door quit working properly and would not close. So I disabled it and locked it for the night and called first thing in the morning. By 10 a.m., Scott was there looking things over and with his experience and quality workmanship, was able to adjust the tracks and rollers, stabilize the light-beam safety feature and get everything working perfectly again. His ability to know where to look and how to fix it was great! He explained the problem to me in a way I could understand. He explained what he was going to do to fix it. And he did! Called up Scott because I had used ABC in the past under their previous owner. My garage door had been slow, noisy and finally stopped working completely. I was certain that it was a goner and the whole thing was going to need to be replaced. Scott came out and took one look at it and figured it was just a minor repair. Called Scott early this morning and he showed up at my house in less than an hour. He replaced broken springs and cables and all other pieces that needed to be replaced. He explained everything before and as he was doing the work. After replacing springs, Scott realized that the springs he installed were not going to last long enough since our garage door was very heavy. He then redid the entire job with heavier springs at no additional charge from the original quote. Scott is great. 20 years ago I installed garage doors. Scott knows his stuff. Looking at the couple of reviews that complain about springs. The springs that Menards sell are uncoated and not the same quality. The better quality springs are thicker and coated to prevent rust and yes they do cost more. Please realize that you can not compare. Had an issue with a unit where the door got stuck and bent a rail, cable came undone and door was stuck 1/2 open wedged to the side. Scott came out at night, rehung door, replace rails, realigned reasonably priced and does good work. I have already recommended him to a friend that needs work done. read more

I had purchased a new garage door opener myself and called Scott to install it. He was able to fit me in within a few days; I was in no rush. He was very knowledgable and fixed a few other things about the door in addition to the installation. The job was done in less than 90 minutes and he left my garage cleaner than it was when he got there. The price was reasonable.
