The lady who answered the phone was so helpful and honest! I called to make an appointment for a service call to possibly replace our garage door opener because our light on the opener kept shorting out and we were afraid it could start a fire besides it being a pain in the neck. We change the lightbulb and it would last a week or two and then go out so thinking we needed to replace the whole thing we were going to have a repairman come out, but she happened to ask me if we used a regular lightbulb or a LED bulb and I said I wasn't sure I would have to go check, but I thought it was an LED cause she said those don't always work too well and could give a person problems so she suggested I checked that first and changed to a regular lightbulb first before even setting up an appointment we did change it and just as she said the problem stopped and it was all good. We were very appreciative that she was so honest and could've just sold us a new garage door opener at hundreds of dollars we definitely will call them in the future when we do have an issue or need to replace our garage door or door openers as I can see they are a very honest and helpful business. read more

My experience with Ace was initially positive: quick response to my service need and replacement of my garage door opener was swift. I realized the next day that the wall control did not have an electronic eye to automatically turn on the garage light with movement. I called and inquired whether they could upgrade what they had installed and was told those units were no longer available. She even went on to say that she has told her husband not to replace their garage door opener because she can't live without this feature. Ridiculous! Unnecessary lie! I was able to purchase on Amazon and have it installed. Seems like a small thing - but this interaction was a FAIL to my overall experience. My 92 year old mother had the misfortune to purchase a new garage door from Ace Overhead Door (Downers Grove, IL). She was required to give a $100 deposit so that the door could be ordered, but the delivery was delayed. By the time the door was installed, my mother had forgotten that she had paid the $100 deposit, and there was no reference to her deposit on the final invoice. Consequently, she paid the full amount of the new door, some $1,200.00. A few days later, my mother remembered that she had paid the deposit and attempted to contact "Steve", the person with whom she had dealt when the door was purchased. Steve was never available, but she did speak to "Donna" on several occasions regarding the overpayment. My mother first was told that someone would drop off a $100 check to her. After several days had passed and more telephone calls, Donna then said that a check would be mailed. This run-around lasted for three weeks, at which point my Mom asked me to help her. I've contacted Donna twice - the first time I spoke to her and was told that a check would be sent within two days, but it wasn't. The second time (a week later) I emailed Donna and said that, if no refund had been received within three business days, I would publicize the company's unscrupulous behavior. The deadline has passed. This matter is simple and straightforward: the company has refused to refund my mother's overpayment. If you prefer to deal with ethical companies, you should have no dealings with Ace Overhead Door. read more

This is the second time I've attempted to use Ace in the last four years after my mom used them all the time and both times I get a scheduled time and "we'll call before we come" that turns out to be a no call- no show and then never pick up or return phone calls. Terrible service and forced to use someone else. Thought maybe the first time was a bad week, but for it to be a second time I'm externally disappointed. Worst part is they are in my own neighborhood and I see the trucks everyday, even twice today while I was waiting for them to show up. read more

We've used Ace Overhead twice. We purchased an overhead insulated door with opener and remotes many, many years ago at our first home. No problems with install and quality of product purchased from them (Lift Master). When the spring broke after 15 years, they showed up the next morning to repair, at a reasonable rate. When we moved into our new home, we had them install two Chamberlain belt-drive openers, one on a 2-car, 2" insulated and the other on a 1-car, 2" insulated overhead. Marc Kukla was fantastic ... professional, quality wiring job and he programmed the portable remotes, making our life so much easier (we'll handle the car remotes). We recommend Ace highly, they have good follow-up if they have to come back for anything & they take care of their clients in a timely manner. Would recommend. read more

Poor customer service. The previous owner of my house had a garage door opener installed by Ace. I left a message on their website (now discontinued) and never got a response after a week. I called them to set up an appointment and was able to get one scheduled for the next day. The following day they never called or showed. I called at 7pm and they rescheduled me for another appointment. Once again they failed to call or show. I'm done asking for service from this company. read more

I have called Ace Overhead Door twice to replace springs and the price was fair and the service was great both times. On their last trip, they had to do some minor repair on my garage door opener due to the spring breakage. That had to be done on another day since they did not have the part on them. They came the next business day early in the morning and completed it. The did not charge an additional service charge. Mark was the tech and was great. I called them to fix my garage door and was told that someone would be out in the afternoon and they would call on their way. At 4:50 I never heard from anyone so I called back. The woman that answered the phone said she would get in touch with 'him', took down my number and that she would call me back. After waiting half an hour and hearing nothing, I called back and got answering machine and left a message. No call back. I left two more messages. Nothing still. Never even heard anything until I called them back the following day. I never did get a straight answer on what happened or why no one called back OR why nobody showed!! read more

I had used them before and was pleased so when my garage door got stuck I called them again. The cable had come off the track. They came a little late but they replaced the rollers and put the cable back on the track ($150) but I was on my way out of town and needed my car. The garage door had been making a loud clanking noise ever since so I called them back. I must admit, I didn't call them right away since I knew I had to be available for them to come back. I called and they scheduled me for Saturday, June 18th, and said they would be there between noon and 2 p.m. They called me at 2 p.m. and said I was next, then I get a call at 3:56 saying they should be there shortly. They arrive about 4:15 and the repair guy asks me to open and close the garage door which I do. He says there's nothing wrong with the door. I told him it's has a loud clanking noise that he wasn't making before the cable came off the track and he said it's sounds the same as it always does (not really sure how he would know what it always sounded like). He was ranting and raving and said I'm not being an ass and I said actually you are. You have an attitude problem. He continued being rude and I told him, just forget it. At this point, I walked out of my garage and he walked towards his truck that was parked behind my garage but stopped right where the door would come down. I asked him to move so I could close my garage door and he said, I'm not in the way you can close it. I said I don't want the door to brush your arm or your land on your boot and he said it won't. He continued ranting and I just stood by my gate until he put his hands on his car door. I then hit the button to close the garage door and he moved back towards the closing garage door and said see it's not going to hit me. I told him just don't worry about it - he said I'm going to worry about it cuz there's nothing wrong with the door.
