It was a full day of Sea2Sky driving with lots of waterfall hiking, gym and spa stops in between! A&W brought us back to our childhoods - I hadn't been to one since 2001! But man, was I stoked for a chili cheese dog and a root beer or cream soda ice cream float! We walked in... looked at the menu - asked the cashier - she said they have Whistler Dogs (which, to me, look like Chicago dogs with ketchup), but they haven't had chili cheese dogs since she's been there and they haven't had root beer floats in two years. (Sorry we are visiting so we had no idea) ‍ We ordered a Papa cheeseburger, Tennessee hot chicken sandwich, and poutine with a diet root beer and a frosted mug. For what we ordered the food was good. Really. No complaints - typical fast food. The chicken sandwich was great - not hot - not spicy but the chicken was thick, lean and cooked/fried nicely. Poutine was ok. So, I understand where the negative reviews are coming from, when you compare to other A&W Canada locations, this one is probably on the lower end. Still, the total experience was worthwhile. An hour of driving north from Vancouver, my stomach grumbled for nutrition. What better, healthier food to put down than Canadian fast food? I quickly parked my rental car in the rather spacious parking lot and hurried out of my car. To the perplexed cashier, I came in with a massive grin on my face. I ordered a burger, poutine and root beer, and sure enough, the root beer was served in the iconic frosty mug, see pic attached. Anyone who's read my reviews, you know I'm passionate about my public WiFi. I toggled it on my smartphone, and connected to the guest network. Speedtest results, see attached. 25.00 Mbps down. I couldn't believe it. I've not come across a SINGLE Starbucks in California that tests that high in speedtest, I'm lucky to even get 1 Mbps but a middle-of-nowhere fast food chain in Canada can beat LA network traffic speeds? What. The. Hell. Canada takes the cake. Gratefully I wolfed my burger down and finished the root beer. The chill from the frosty mug was a welcome freeze to my head. Poutine, with the assistance of a silver fork, became an empty container in minutes. We had two Uncle burgers, an order of sweet potato fries (that comes with delicious chipotle mayo) and two root beer floats. I highly recommend this place. A Local that has become unfortunately quite disgusted. Ive lived in this town my whole life. Our Local A&W has become bad. Im sorry to say but SOMETHING needs to be done. Multiple bad experiences in the past 3 months of 2019 from SEPT to NOV. I have pictures, Ive made Complaints, I have filed Complaints. From chunks of hair to 1 piece of bacon in my Teen burger....Its getting gross and disappointing. There is a Serious language barrier too (Nobodys fault) It makes things difficult and mistake are mad because of communication. There are also un uniformed employees at this establishment without hairnets...... My GF loved BeyondMeat Burger, but after that hair ball she is dissapointed and disgusted and it makes going there CLEARLY regretfull and stressful for the two of us now. This is my honest experience, we used to love A&W but now were pretty dissatisfied and unfortunately quite disgusted. read more

This is our usual pit stop in Squamish, on the way to/from Whistler. I tried the sweet potato fries. They were nothing to rave about. The dip was spicy and went better with regular fries, not so well with the sweet potato. Both our hamburgers had the buns on crooked, and both our chicken strip wraps were unraveled. After a day skiing Whistler, their root beer float hits the spot. I seldom order one of these, but was just reading an article that awarded the A&W root beer float as one of the best fast food items in America, and I'm assuming that honor is transferable to Canada as well. So I had to try. If you are having a day where calories don't count much, you really can't go wrong. I didn't try much else here, but the burgers looked palatable. However, with so many other options in Squamish, you may just want to stick to the float and then happily move along. read more

She confirmed my order, did my payment and then just handed me the bag and couldn't be bothered to say "thanks" or "here ya go, have a nice day" or "thanks and have a good day"..... Secondly.....they do not take expired coupons unlike 99% of the other stores. Thirdly..... I called the store from 20:00 to 22:00 to try to address this with the manager, but the phone was never picked up. I called the next morning and talked to the manager and he had little to no concern in his voice with my experience. He said that the reason there was no one answering the phone was that it was really busy. Hmmmm. As I ate my food in the parking lot, I recall maybe 5 cars came through in the 20 or so minutes. Our daughter had a very nasty fall in the hall leading to the washrooms this afternoon. The floor area was wet with not just water, but some sort of greasy dark material. No signage that the floor was wet. She cried out for help and it took forever for the management to respond. They put up a sign, and started mopping up the floor. Very poorly handled! Poor Customer Service Experience... Monday, April 21st at 6:14pm via Drive-Thru. The slovenly cashier in his disheveled uniform, took my $2 Mama Burger coupon and then told me that the total was $2.57. Unless the Taxes went up to 28%... The cash register was obviously wrong. I questioned the price, and he informed me that as the machine had tabulated the amount, that it must therefore be correct. I then requested to speak to the manager, who oddly enough just happened to be the girl immediately behind him... She was rather lazily leaning against a stainless steel kitchen appliance, while chewing on bubble him. This 18 year old high schooler, and obvious math and taxation prodigy leaned forward to unenthusiastically echo her colleagues belief in all things computer processed. Upon further questioning, as to how I could contact the general manager or owner... She then admittedly made the brave hypothesis that the total of $2.00 with current BC/Federal taxation levels may not actually come to $2.57 But, there was nothing that she could do... And, the fault was clearly placed with the "Upper Management" for making many mistakes when setting up the new machines. VERY POOR SERVICE THAT DAY !!! read more

I attended your store #0594 in Squamish BC this afternoon for lunch. I experienced some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. The staff member (I have her name on my receipt if needed) was in the process of taking my order ... she had already said "What would you like" I started giving the order but she had multiple side conversations going with several other people and completely ignored what I was saying. I finally said "Please I am the customer, you should be talking to me!" but she was so engrossed in conversation with others I was left standing at the till. I stood there for about 5 minutes with the staff member not showing the slightest indication that she was in the slightest interested in hearing my order. In the meantime other staff members were arguing about which order dumped onto the counter was for which customer. They all seemed pretty much confused and useless. I might add that the store was not very busy at this time. Finally when we did get our orders and went to sit down, every table in the store was absolutely filthy. There were several people all standing behind the counter, not doing anything at all, yet every table was filty! Given how dirty the store was and how incompetent the staff were, we didn't feel safe eating our food. We dumped it all into a trash can and went to another nearby restaurant. I've been going to A&W for over 40 years and this is absolutely the dirtiest and most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered. read more

I finally just grabbed some napkins and wiped the counter myself. Best A&W I've ever experienced. The food is great quality, and literally the best burgers in Squamish (the Uncle Burger trumps the brewpub, copper coil, and watershed). A&W, Home of the Worst Service. The irony of this restaurant being a "fast food" restaurant is really quite rich. After luxuriating in a 20 minute wait, standing (first) in line at an empty till, with the employee ambling by now and again leisurely, only to ignore us, we were told that our teen burger would take at least thirty minutes to make. Apparently despite their advertisement of "we proudly make burgers all day", they have neglected to include the caveat that you would have to book an hour out of your day if you wanted that to happen. I'm usually a fan of A&W and I like the fact that they use "real" meat. However, this location is run very poorly. Fries are half cold and extremely greasy. Worst of all the staff (mostly teens) just don't care. You're better off spending a few bucks more and head over to Fatburger or if it has to be fast and cheap across the street to McD's read more

They kept asking if we were American, and when we told them we were they declined all of our credit cards, even our company credit card. They insisted we had to pay in cash, then refused to convert our American dollars to Canadian dollars, which means they overcharged us by 33%. The employee was very rude and wouldn't let us pay the equivalent of the sum in American dollars, which we had to calculate ourselves. If it were possible to give this less than a one star review, they would deserve it because the food was not even good. read more

We dont have this fast food joint in Seattle. We made a late night pit stop here on the way up to Whistler and it was one of the only things open. I would say that they are a notch above McDonalds with the quality of the food. The service was good and the place was clean. You cant ask for much more than that for a quick pit stop to grab dinner. During our drive from the Vancouver Airport to Whistler, we needed a bathroom break. Also, after the constant talk about Poutines during the car ride, we were all craving some. Chubby chicken and fries/ gravy are great. Love the root beer too! But the service is poor- you always have to park when going thru drive thru. No staff every say thanks or Coke again- very indifferent . One big concern when I ordered breakfast sandwich couple of months ago , I saw employee who took my order walk to back and make my food without washing hands or using gloves. I go to A&W most days for Breakfast, In Vancouver. Last weekend i went to A&W Squamish, had not been in a while , as food and service was pretty bad . Decided to try again. Last weekend was ok. Took quite a while for food. 15 minutes. Eggs were hard as a rock , toast was cold, and barely butterd (asked for easy over) Already took my insulin, had to eat right away. Today i went again (should have known) Eggs where e hard again, sent them back (guess i insulted the cook, as they were even harder !) 15 minutes i waited for breakfast, then second time 10 minutes. Third time , the owner cooked them, was perfect this time and about 3 minutes. Problem was now my toast was cold and rock hard. Ate and ran. Must have been 10 more people in waiting this time, and counter girl was no where to be found for 5 minutes. They all waited (well some just left.) and they all waited over 10 minutes for regular breakfast. read more

Holy Jesus what can I say about this place. We had to stop for a quick bite on our way back to Vancouver from Whistler. The girl who took our order was no older than 12 or 13 years old and had no idea how to enter our order or answer any questions about the food. What's even better is that the girl who was helping her was also 12 years old. My mom asked "what is 'the whistler' and what comes on it". The response was "it's like a hot dog... Kind of... With like bacon... And some other stuff on it". My mom repeated the question, "can you find out what's on it?". She turned to her coworker who responded with "yeah it's like cut down the middle and filled with bacon, and maybe ketchup, and some other stuff". WOW. I couldn't help but to laugh at how funny this situation was. It took us almost 10 full minutes to order for 3 people and I'm positive she didn't even enter it correctly. When the food was handed from the kitchen to the cashiers, I saw one girl use her bare hands to touch my burger to check if it had no mustard as I had requested. No doubt this girl had used those same fingers to pick her nose earlier. I cannot believe any establishment would hire 12 year olds to work the counter. The food itself wasn't half bad despite the unsanitary treatment of our food, but there's no way in hell I'd ever eat here again. STAY AWAY!! read more

As an avid a&w lover I have been to thousands of restaurants all over Canada but this location is by far the worst! When we received our order we checked our colas to make sure they we're cola but they tasted like root beer we immediately began to tell the employee that they tasted wrong and she then proceeded to tell us..."we'll...this is an a&w and then began to explain that the way the system works they can't clean their spouts properly therefore root beer taste will always be in the drink" this has never happened to us before and the tone of the employee was very disrespectful.
