Definitely a restaurant I don't go to often but when I do, I can't say I'm too disappointed! The inside usually isn't the cleanest place in the world but I've definitely seen far worse, they keep the bathrooms pretty clean at least. As far as service goes, it's usually very friendly and efficient, can't say I've ever had a bad experience with any of the servers! Lastly, the food. A couple of days ago in went in for lunch, food was good but service sucked. all waitress were in the back texting on phones laughing loudly and talking. I was here for breakfast, and short staff with only 1 waitress, and was there only 1 cook as well? If so how can one cook keep up with all the orders that come in? Service was adequate; wish I could say the same about the food. Stopped for breakfast with my wife - ordered eggs over easy, potatoes w/onions, bacon, whole wheat toast, and decafe coffee. For some reason the food all tasted as though it had been prepared beforehand and was sitting under a heat lamp for some time. Eggs were rubbery and overcooked, potatoes were semi warm and tough, toast was dry and tough, bacon was tolerable. Best part of the meal was the coffee, it tasted fresh (and at $2.99 a cup it should be) Have eaten breakfast there before and had a better experience. I stop in like every 6 months hoping they have changed something or made something better but they never do. It always seems to be dirty with bad service and sub par food. We waited 10 min before I went in search of service and there was only two people in there. Ordered onion rings with my meal got fries. A&W Restaurant - What's up with the lights - Burgers Near Me - Mason, Michigan

Food is as You would expect from a drive thru restaurant. Somewhat greasy at times. Service is always timely and friendly.

This franchise is near my work so I keep hoping it will get better. I don't go frequently because it is very inconsistent and expensive. This will be my last visit. Ordered chili/cheese dogs with no onion and light chili and cheese since, in the past, they have been so carelessly overloaded that they were impossible to eat without a knife and fork. Very sloppy and wasteful, since half of the toppings ended up in the Styrofoam container. So I ordered light chili and cheese. I honestly think that pissed them off somehow because when I got back with my food there was maybe a tablespoon of chili sauce and NO cheese. Zero. So that's it. This once proud franchise has fallen into disarray. I understand the difficulty hiring people and staffing can be but why open at all if you can't do the most basic services. Goodbye. read more

My husband and I went here this morning for breakfast. The restaurant was not busy. The waitress never said a word to us. She came in and out of the back no less than four times and never asked if we would like a menu or coffee. She did clean a table up. It was like she was purposely not waiting on us . The customer service there is absolutely terrible. They made a simple mistake by misunderstanding our order so I explained to them what we needed & we would pay for whatever wasn't rung up. The lady the proceeded to tell me I just don't understand what you're saying. They ring it up, I gave cash & some change. She closed the door before I could even hang her change because she just had a bad attitude. When I got the food she slammed the door on us. Our Mason A&W is not only a quality place to eat, but they also go out of their way to support events and charities in Mason. Well, we came thru the drive thru as we passed the town and got two coney dogs. One with onions and one with out. The dogs were not that warm and their coney sauce tastes just like Chef Boyardee spaghetti sauce. The one you ate as a kid and had the rings. The fries were fresh and hot, but that's the best I can say about the experience. We were traveling and we didn't want to turn around, so we dealt with it. I like this restaurant for their breakfast! No, it's not shown on their menu , but they have it! Typical eggs, hashbrowns toast, omelettes, french toast & great coffee. For lunch... I recommend a burger, wish I could say Coney Dog or Chili, but they have my ultimate downfall in / on them.... green pepper. I found that out the hard way rather than asking first.... yes, an allergic reaction.... not good. So I really can't say how good they may be. I did get comped for the Chili though. This place is an all American classic. The location is great right off highway 127. Very easy to get to. There is ample parking in their private lot. The outside is well maintained, as well as the inside is kept clean. The staff here is so friendly. If it's your first time coming, it might be confusing to know what to do when you first walk in. If your dining in, just go find a table and a waitress will be over shortly to take your order. If your getting something to go, just go to the counter to order. Of course you need to order a root beer float, no brainer there. And the burgers are the way to go food wise. I had the Double Papa Burger, and boy was it great. If you find your self in Mason, or traveling to Lansing, this is a most stop. I can't wait to go back. read more

Typically A&W has offered the best Coney dogs I've had anywhere. Yesterday I visited the Mason, Mi A&W where I ordered a couple coneys. Not all A&Ws are created equal. For Coney sauce, they use a spaghetti flavored sauce. Not at all Coney/chili base flavor. There hot dogs are NOT koegels. They us a soft mushy hot dog that has a green tint. Buns were not the soft fresh style typically used at A&W. The experience was awful. Again not all A&W restaurants are created equal. read more

It's a mistake to think of this A&W as fast food. 50 years ago, maybe. This is a restaurant, with real waitresses, where people sit down and eat, off of real dishes. We're in a group that enjoys breakfast here every Friday. Sometimes, lunch. They are family friendly, and active in their community. As they advertise, "All American Food". The food has been great for A & W food. Place always look a little on the dark side, looks like it is not clean but that is do to the coloration of the walls, tables and booths. The numbers of times that I've been there it has always been clean and the staff has a low turnover. Was displeased the last time I stopped in as the has taken off the hot beef Ana had run out of turkey for the hot turkey sandwich. Root beer is lays good, but you need to check on the caps to see if they are on tight. read more

my wife and I ate at the Mason A&W this afternoon, we both had the fish basket, both were disgusting , processed fish, and as your eating the fish you can't help but to eat the paper basket liner, as the paper soaks up the grease from the fish it is falling apart and mixing in with the fish. the only good thing about the whole thing was the root beer, overall 21.00 dollars was a bit of a rip, won't be back read more
