We have chosen A&R Appliances services two times in the last 3 years and they have been awesome! They came promptly for service on a washing machine and on a replacement of an ice maker. I would definitely recommend them for honest and professional service. read more

Excellent service and good stuff, I recommend this it was good and excellent at the same time

We have purchased a variety of refurbished used appliances from A & R and have had great experiences every time. Washer Dryer 2 refrigerators (one for the garage) The have always delivered quickly and our purchases have held up very well, granted we have chosen their upper end products knowing they will get some tough use from us. read more

Bought a washer about 4 months ago and everything is working great still. Friendly woman that helped us and they delivered!

My dryer went out in the morning so I began my search online for an affordable replacement. A & R appliances was just what I was looking for. They had in stock appliances online that were in my price range and location was close to my home. Made a phone call to verify the appliance I was looking for was available, went down to the store to make my payment and grab my receipt. Delivery was made about an hour after payment and they took my old dryer. I appreciate the 90 day warranty on my Maytag appliance. Thank you for the quick turnaround and delivery. Will be recommending you to other friends and family members. read more

We are very happy with the service from A & R Appliances. We had a rat chew through the water hose on our washer. They replaced three hoses in one week before we blocked the hose and caught the rat. Their patience and support were a real blessing! read more

Where do I begin.... First do not purchase anything from this company. I bought a fridge from them and when they delivered it mold was growing everywhere and the doors don't close correctly. Unfortunately it doesn't stay the correct temperature bc of it. We had a 30 day warranty and they won't call us back. There are wayyyyyyyy better used appliances stores to go to so avoid this one like the plague .. read more

We called out A&R because Our dryer was making a loud noise and the heating element went out. Renee said 2 of the drum support rollers were damaged due to the drum not staying steady because the rollers went bad and the heating element needed to be replaced. That was $240. Okay, cool everything is fixed! A week or so goes by and there is a very loud noise coming from the dryer... grinding pounding loud noise we call him back out and was told all of the rollers needed to be replaced but he didn't have the wheels but puts everything back in and says it will be okay to use then he starts the dryer and the sound is WAY WAY WORSE and says okay don't use it and he will be back in a couple of days because he has to order them. After he leaves I find several screws on the ground so I put them together and save them for when he gets back. He comes back in a couple of days to "fix" it I give him the screws and he starts putting in the new drum support rollers but I find even more screws on the ground after he leaves. We figure maybe it was just a bad roller that was put in. A week or so goes by and the noise is back again but worse. At this point, we are already at $700 in this dryer. After we spoke to them again they refused to come out saying it's just a bad dryer. We called a new company and they came out and fully vacuumed everything realized that the rollers were bad again because they kept only replacing the wheels not the shaft!!! That were never replaced by A&R. The reason the rollers needed to be replaced was because the shaft was bad. (Pictured) There were several screws stripped and some were missing Also the motor support bracket wasn't put on properly so that was contributing to the noise because it was causing the turbulent to have to much pressure and not work properly. Thankfully we went through a different company and now our dryer is fixed! read more

I am Carrie. You ARE lying. My mother was there and only 1 person showed up. He left dirty fingerprints in my freezer. Which is the least of the issues. Based on how you respond to 1 star reviews, you KNOW we are right and you are wrong. Do better. read more

Robert and A&R were fantastic. He called me back the next morning, came out that afternoon, diagnosed the problem with my washing machine, ordered the part, two days later the part arrived, Robert was out that afternoon and my washer is running like new. Great job very highly recommend A&R appliance read more

They were kind and knew a lot about our specific washer/dryer (Samsung), considering they carry such a diverse range of brands and models at any given time. The mother (her name escapes me at this time.. Sorry!) was honest and attentive. I thought we had an issue with our washer, but when I called, I could tell she was confident in what she had sold me, and she explained to me that top load HE washers with no agitator work very different than front load or topload with agitator. This was in fact true. We love our washer and dryer now that we understand, they are great! We also bought a fridge and have been happy with it as well. The gentlemen who delivered our appliances were kind, knowledgeable, prompt, and respectful. Thank you A&R family! For providing great appliances and service! read more

These guys got me a great deal on a refurbished washer and dryer and the install was painless and very quick. They were so helpful with communication and were very friendly. About a year after I bought my set, something was wrong with the washer. I booked a repair appointment and they were prompt and professional. They had to order a part and came back a few days later to get everything fixed but now it's good as new. The repair was also an extremely reasonable price. read more

I recently purchased a refrigerator from them! Spent 230 dollars on food and two days later everything is defrosted and ruined. Website says open 6 days a week but that's not the case. They are only open 6 days a week. I am extremely disappointed in the service I have received from A&R. Two days of having this refrigerator and no calls back to fix it or Money back. read more

My household is a repeat client.! When we moved to Modesto I was in need of a washer & dryer but couldn't afford a new set. I checked out Craigslist and found all of the unfriendly people who wouldn't deliver, even for an extra $20. I found their location through Craigslist and got a great set for $150. The delivery from Denair to Modesto was free and they even set them up for me! To this day both W & D work perfectly, I never had to use the 90 day warranty. Today we went down for a spare Fridge and we found exactly what we wanted for $350, free delivery as well. I recommend this store to anyone who wants affordable and reliable appliances while supporting the local community. read more

Two weeks ago I had a refurbished washer delivered to Stevinson. I had already paid for the washer, installation, and removal and hauling away the old washer. The installation guy refused to take it, and in spite of multiple calls to the company, it is STILL THERE in the driveway. I don't want a refund, I wand the washer hauled away, as promised. read more

Our washing machine started to make a loud hammering like sound. I called several appliance repair shops nearby and A&R Appliance was the quickest to respond. Rene came by the same day and diagnosed a bad clutch. He did not have the part with him but came back the following day to finish the job. Very professional, honest, definitely recommend! Thanks A&R. The one star is only because you have to leave at least one. The owners are nice until they get your money. They are suppose to offer a 90 day warranty. The washer was tearing up my clothes and laundry was not clean. I went in and asked to just exchange the worthless washer that I paid $299 for one that was $499. I expected to pay the $200 difference. The owners wife told me she would have to discuss it with her husband. She called me back to tell me it would be an additional $315. She said that it was for restocking fees and having to take the garbage machine they sold me to be refurbished. I would avoid these two. The positive reviews are customers that didn't have any problems with their appliance. It's only when you do that they refuse to honor the 90 day guarantee. * Rude * Dishonest * Overpriced for used junk!!! read more

Great prices , they have financing. Free delivery and set up. No problems yet. Bought a fridge and washer dryer and they all work great ! read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I purchased a fridge in April 2021. Within 2 weeks the motor started going out in the ice machine. I immediately contacted them, and they said they would send someone out. Shortly after I called, they did experience some troubles, but assured me they would fix the fridge since the problem started before the 30 or 60 day limited warranty was up. Well, finally, in July they sent someone by. This person refused to wash their hands and got thick grime all over the INSIDE of my freezer. Claimed they needed to order the parts, and would return. I messaged them several times, and never received an answer back. I tried calling, and was never called back. The fridge now has a non-functioning ice machine. I wasted my money and they never bothered to fulfill their obligation to fix it, even though the issue began BEFORE the limited warranty was out. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! They sell broken items and don't bother returning messages or calls to fix the item. read more

Excellent prices for great products PLUS! A&R delivered to my house and removed the old one and were incredibly fast and efficient. Evie in the office was very professional and provided excellent customer service and support when I needed it. All my questions were answered thoroughly and the little help I needed, they got to it right away. They offer modern, clean and affordable products delivered right to your door at a low cost. Highly recommend A&R Appliance! read more

REPEAT CUSTOMER Satisfied every time we need anything from them. If and when something is with in the warranty time they are out there to fix it or at least see what the Issue was and then tell me when to expect him to be out and fix it. Wonderful customer service and friendly atmosphere. They understand the importance of having a working Fridge and Washer and Dryer with my larger family of 6. I will and have recommend this company to others! read more

Another REPEAT CUSTOMER here! I like the low pressure shopping experience. I LOVED the low prices; the free, fast delivery; and the assurance I received from the (unused) warranty. I bought my HE top loading washing machine here about a year ago for half of what I could get for an open box/floor model washer at Lowes or HD. Plus, A&R could deliver the next day. Lowes & HD were a week out -- not gonna work with a family of 5. Their guy showed up, took my old washer, and set up the new one. It's worked like a champ since! Fast forward to a couple of months ago when my dryer started sounding like I was trying to dry a brick even after a couple of diy fixes. I went back to A&R and bought a dryer with the biggest drum on the face of the planet (or at least that's what it looks like to me). Of course, they delivered, set up and took away the old one for free. I will ALWAYS shop A&R for appliances FIRST from here on out. read more

Got a refrigerator from here back in 2009 when we first moved in to our house. Barely had issues with it so called them for a repair. Luckily it was just a fan and didn't have to buy another refrigerator. The man that came out was the same who had delivered initially. He doesn't talk much just to the point which is fine. Evy on the phone is always very friendly. Recommend this place. Always nice to work with local family owned businesses. read more

I feel like I got a great deal and they delivered them same day! The owner is very knowledgeable and only refurbishes quality machines. My first purchase with a and r was a fridge about 1.5 years ago. It's still running great! Never a problem. The second purchase was a washing machine and gas dryer about 4 months ago. The washer started having trouble almost immediately. I called a and r and the handyman came out that week. He ordered the part and came back the next week and it was fixed. Been running great since and no charge since I live in Turlock! I recommend you read their fine print- they provide a 90 day free warranty if you live in denair or Turlock. I see a lot of complaints from people outside that area, who were charged for the handyman to come out. It clearly states that on the order form when you purchase your appliance. I would def buy from them again! read more

I bought a washer and dryer from this store in Denair and initially I was pleased. I thought the price they quoted me was good and we even bought a refrigerator too from them. All was well for 4 months then all of a sudden the lid switch on the washer goes out. I call A and R and they tell me that it's past the 90 days of warranty but someone will come out an take care of it for $50. The guy who was sent out here told me that he'd REPLACE the switch and he left to get the replacement. 45 minutes later he returns and tells me it's replaced. All I owe is $50. Great. So this past week the lid switch breaks once again so I call A an R. Another $50... Then I decide to look for myself. The switch hasn't been replaced, it has been zip tied!!! Plus the wires aren't properly secured - they only have electrical tape around them. Awesome. So I call A and R again and they try to tell me that I'm mistaken an I'm SOL. Umm WTH. I loved the idea that we bought and supported a mom and pop shop but now I'm regretting it. * horrible customer service * lies to their customers * unprofessional read more

I have no idea how this business is successful in any way shape or form. I made a purchase from here a month ago and although the actual purchasing process was actually quite smooth the service afterwards has been terrible. I bought a fridge and a washer and dryer from A&R and have been pleased with my washer and dryer from day one. Like i said when I made the purchases it was a smooth process, good price, and delivery was fast and easy. My fridge was great at first but has now started to have problems. My freezer doesn't get cold and stopped making ice. I called A&R and had a horrible time trying to get a hold of anyone. I called multiple times and got no answer. This was all during business hours. I finally got an answer and was brushed off the phone because the person who answered needed to go to a doctors appointment.... Unprofessional but I gave her my information and let her know she could call me back. She called back and let me know she had no history of my purchase at all. After arguing with her over the phone the next day she finally found my purchase and sent a technician to my home. The tech barely did a thing. He looked at my fridge temperature and changed it and told me that would fix it and that if I still had a problem to call since he works Saturday's for half the day. I said ok and gave the freezer sometime to get cold. It ended up getting worse. All of my food defrosted entirely and absolutely nothing was frozen anymore. I called A&R right away again during their business hours and no answer. I left a message for them to call me as soon as they could. I received a call today from someone who apparently doesn't even work there just "volunteers" and was told no one can come to my home until Monday. UNACCEPTABLE. I asked her to contact the technician directly and she told me she can't because she does not have the contact number for him or the lady who is the manager. So that again is more unprofessional. This "volunteer" told me she is gonna wait for them to call and check in on her and then she will let them know about my problem. None of this makes sense to me at all. I am now stuck with a broken freezer, no ice, and frozen food that is now defrosted and at the point of spoiling. If I do not receive the service I need from this joke of a business I will never return to them again. I would have rather spent the extra money on new appliances at this point then deal with people who are so unprofessional and unwilling to help to a customer with an urgent need. read more

Horrible experience. We bought a fridge, washer, and dryer. All three broken once delivered. So the washer the middle comes out and is broken, the dryer has to be ran two to three times to dry clothes. Our real issue? The freezer doesn't freeze anything. The service man came out and "serviced it," still didn't freeze. So he came back out and spent an hour or so working on it. Still not freezing!!! I call and get no answers. Finally someone schedules me an appointment for him to come back out a few weeks later. The day of they cancel on me!! Then the next day say oh your out of warranty! Have cash in hand! Then basically call me a liar and argue with me over text saying they haven't come out to service before!!! Horrible!!! And if you read other reviews you can see that Evelyn is very rude to the customers! You would think they would make the service better and apologize as it seems I'm not the only one with the same issues. read more

I bought a washer frontloader. Didn't last me that long, 4 months later and it broke down.I called a service technician and he came out to look at it. He said its not worth fixing it. It will cost me $500.00. He asked where we bought it and I told him that we bought from A and R Appliance. He said you got ripped off! This frontloader is between 8 to 10 years old. Its not worth 500.00. So I called A and R Appliance and told them to come and pick up their shit. I can't believe we got ripped off. The technician said that they get alot of customers calling em for services and they have brought from A and R Appliance, they have ordered customers the wrong parts and make the customer pay the restock price to get the right part. Iam never buying from them anymore. read more

If I could put a negative review I would! We paid them $75 to come out. The repair guy did nothing but clean the lint trap! The problem is with the moisture sensor which we told him. They took the $75, didn't fix the problem and do not want to come back out because we are not "local". Since when is Hickman not "local" to Denair?! It's seriously 10 minutes or less. They don't want to fix things or make things right and think people should just call someone else or buy a new $1000 dryer! Are you serious!? We'll never use them again! read more

Do not waste your time or money here! Ridiculously rude employees that yell at you. Also they won't come out to fix your stuff when you say it's broken. I bought a fridge here and it broke within six months. I had to fight to get someone to my house just to look at it. Then they wanted to charge me the cost of a new fridge just to fix it. Stay away from this place! read more

Horrible customer service, very unprofessional. I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer set here 2 mos ago. After a few weeks I started noticing a small leak coming from the bottom of my washer but I was not too concerned at that point, however over the past few days my floor has flooded each time I run my washer. After calling to request someone to come check it out (being I still am 1 month within my warranty) I was told to read my paperwork, I will be charged an extra $40 service fee. When I asked why, since I am still under their (100% warranty) I was told I was outside of their covered area. So I did my research and I am actually only 3 miles outside of their "covered area" I find this ridiculous being that I spent my time, gas, and money to take my business to them in Denair, and when they are not able to back up their claim that they sell reliable appliances, they are not willing to come to Newman to please their customer because it is of inconvenience to them. Lesson Learned! *Waste of time, money, & headache. *Take your money elsewhere *They basically give their customers the middle finger when something goes wrong. *Warranty is a JOKE! *They won't have that "A rating" with the BBB very much longer doing business this way! read more

We had an inefficient washer and dryer, that came with new house, we just purchased. I called A & R about selling these because we already had a set. Evelyn and her family own this small business and work hard at it. I was very impressed with them and the selection of appliances. I chose a Kenmore Refrigerator and plan to go back for a washer/dryer set in the near future. I love the fridge-a way better designed model than some of the more expensive ones. I appreciate the time and friendliness she showed me and she took time to explain the whole process if something goes wrong, the warranty, etc. I know when we buy anything, then anything can go wrong. What matters in the end, is how it's taken care of-I can see the A & R owners are really trying to make their business better all the time and I believe they will continue to have success at it. read more
