We called out A&R because Our dryer was making a loud noise and the heating element went out. Renee said 2 of the drum support rollers were damaged due to the drum not staying steady because the rollers went bad and the heating element needed to be replaced. That was $240. Okay, cool everything is fixed! A week or so goes by and there is a very loud noise coming from the dryer... grinding pounding loud noise we call him back out and was told all of the rollers needed to be replaced but he didn't have the wheels but puts everything back in and says it will be okay to use then he starts the dryer and the sound is WAY WAY WORSE and says okay don't use it and he will be back in a couple of days because he has to order them. After he leaves I find several screws on the ground so I put them together and save them for when he gets back. He comes back in a couple of days to "fix" it I give him the screws and he starts putting in the new drum support rollers but I find even more screws on the ground after he leaves. We figure maybe it was just a bad roller that was put in. A week or so goes by and the noise is back again but worse. At this point, we are already at $700 in this dryer. After we spoke to them again they refused to come out saying it's just a bad dryer. We called a new company and they came out and fully vacuumed everything realized that the rollers were bad again because they kept only replacing the wheels not the shaft!!! That were never replaced by A&R. The reason the rollers needed to be replaced was because the shaft was bad. (Pictured) There were several screws stripped and some were missing Also the motor support bracket wasn't put on properly so that was contributing to the noise because it was causing the turbulent to have to much pressure and not work properly. They were kind and knew a lot about our specific washer/dryer (Samsung), considering they carry such a diverse range of brands and models at any given time. The mother (her name escapes me at this time.. Sorry!) was honest and attentive. I thought we had an issue with our washer, but when I called, I could tell she was confident in what she had sold me, and she explained to me that top load HE washers with no agitator work very different than front load or topload with agitator. This was in fact true. We love our washer and dryer now that we understand, they are great! We also bought a fridge and have been happy with it as well. These guys got me a great deal on a refurbished washer and dryer and the install was painless and very quick. They were so helpful with communication and were very friendly. About a year after I bought my set, something was wrong with the washer. I booked a repair appointment and they were prompt and professional. The one star is only because you have to leave at least one. The owners are nice until they get your money. They are suppose to offer a 90 day warranty. The washer was tearing up my clothes and laundry was not clean. I went in and asked to just exchange the worthless washer that I paid $299 for one that was $499. I expected to pay the $200 difference. The owners wife told me she would have to discuss it with her husband. She called me back to tell me it would be an additional $315. She said that it was for restocking fees and having to take the garbage machine they sold me to be refurbished. I would avoid these two. The positive reviews are customers that didn't have any problems with their appliance. My household is a repeat client.! When we moved to Modesto I was in need of a washer & dryer but couldn't afford a new set. I checked out Craigslist and found all of the unfriendly people who wouldn't deliver, even for an extra $20. I found their location through Craigslist and got a great set for $150. The delivery from Denair to Modesto was free and they even set them up for me! To this day both W & D work perfectly, I never had to use the 90 day warranty. Today we went down for a spare Fridge and we found exactly what we wanted for $350, free delivery as well. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I purchased a fridge in April 2021. Within 2 weeks the motor started going out in the ice machine. I immediately contacted them, and they said they would send someone out. Shortly after I called, they did experience some troubles, but assured me they would fix the fridge since the problem started before the 30 or 60 day limited warranty was up. Well, finally, in July they sent someone by. This person refused to wash their hands and got thick grime all over the INSIDE of my freezer. Claimed they needed to order the parts, and would return. I messaged them several times, and never received an answer back. I tried calling, and was never called back. The fridge now has a non-functioning ice machine. I wasted my money and they never bothered to fulfill their obligation to fix it, even though the issue began BEFORE the limited warranty was out. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! They sell broken items and don't bother returning messages or calls to fix the item. read more

Another REPEAT CUSTOMER here! I like the low pressure shopping experience. I LOVED the low prices; the free, fast delivery; and the assurance I received from the (unused) warranty. I bought my HE top loading washing machine here about a year ago for half of what I could get for an open box/floor model washer at Lowes or HD. Plus, A&R could deliver the next day. Lowes & HD were a week out -- not gonna work with a family of 5. Their guy showed up, took my old washer, and set up the new one. It's worked like a champ since! Fast forward to a couple of months ago when my dryer started sounding like I was trying to dry a brick even after a couple of diy fixes. I went back to A&R and bought a dryer with the biggest drum on the face of the planet (or at least that's what it looks like to me). Horrible experience. We bought a fridge, washer, and dryer. All three broken once delivered. So the washer the middle comes out and is broken, the dryer has to be ran two to three times to dry clothes. Our real issue? The freezer doesn't freeze anything. The service man came out and "serviced it," still didn't freeze. So he came back out and spent an hour or so working on it. Still not freezing!!! I call and get no answers. Finally someone schedules me an appointment for him to come back out a few weeks later. The day of they cancel on me!! Then the next day say oh your out of warranty! Have cash in hand! Then basically call me a liar and argue with me over text saying they haven't come out to service before!!! Horrible!!! And if you read other reviews you can see that Evelyn is very rude to the customers! You would think they would make the service better and apologize as it seems I'm not the only one with the same issues. read more

I bought a washer frontloader. Didn't last me that long, 4 months later and it broke down.I called a service technician and he came out to look at it. He said its not worth fixing it. It will cost me $500.00. He asked where we bought it and I told him that we bought from A and R Appliance. He said you got ripped off! This frontloader is between 8 to 10 years old. Its not worth 500.00. So I called A and R Appliance and told them to come and pick up their shit. I can't believe we got ripped off. The technician said that they get alot of customers calling em for services and they have brought from A and R Appliance, they have ordered customers the wrong parts and make the customer pay the restock price to get the right part. I have no idea how this business is successful in any way shape or form. I made a purchase from here a month ago and although the actual purchasing process was actually quite smooth the service afterwards has been terrible. I bought a fridge and a washer and dryer from A&R and have been pleased with my washer and dryer from day one. Like i said when I made the purchases it was a smooth process, good price, and delivery was fast and easy. My fridge was great at first but has now started to have problems. My freezer doesn't get cold and stopped making ice. I called A&R and had a horrible time trying to get a hold of anyone. I called multiple times and got no answer. This was all during business hours. I finally got an answer and was brushed off the phone because the person who answered needed to go to a doctors appointment.... Unprofessional but I gave her my information and let her know she could call me back. She called back and let me know she had no history of my purchase at all. After arguing with her over the phone the next day she finally found my purchase and sent a technician to my home. The tech barely did a thing. He looked at my fridge temperature and changed it and told me that would fix it and that if I still had a problem to call since he works Saturday's for half the day. I said ok and gave the freezer sometime to get cold. It ended up getting worse. All of my food defrosted entirely and absolutely nothing was frozen anymore. I called A&R right away again during their business hours and no answer. I left a message for them to call me as soon as they could. I received a call today from someone who apparently doesn't even work there just "volunteers" and was told no one can come to my home until Monday. UNACCEPTABLE. I asked her to contact the technician directly and she told me she can't because she does not have the contact number for him or the lady who is the manager. So that again is more unprofessional. This "volunteer" told me she is gonna wait for them to call and check in on her and then she will let them know about my problem. None of this makes sense to me at all. I am now stuck with a broken freezer, no ice, and frozen food that is now defrosted and at the point of spoiling. If I do not receive the service I need from this joke of a business I will never return to them again. I would have rather spent the extra money on new appliances at this point then deal with people who are so unprofessional and unwilling to help to a customer with an urgent need. read more

I bought a washer and dryer from this store in Denair and initially I was pleased. I thought the price they quoted me was good and we even bought a refrigerator too from them. All was well for 4 months then all of a sudden the lid switch on the washer goes out. I call A and R and they tell me that it's past the 90 days of warranty but someone will come out an take care of it for $50. The guy who was sent out here told me that he'd REPLACE the switch and he left to get the replacement. 45 minutes later he returns and tells me it's replaced. All I owe is $50. Great. So this past week the lid switch breaks once again so I call A an R. Another $50... Then I decide to look for myself. The switch hasn't been replaced, it has been zip tied!!! Plus the wires aren't properly secured - they only have electrical tape around them. Awesome. So I call A and R again and they try to tell me that I'm mistaken an I'm SOL. Umm WTH. My first purchase with a and r was a fridge about 1.5 years ago. It's still running great! Never a problem. The second purchase was a washing machine and gas dryer about 4 months ago. The washer started having trouble almost immediately. I called a and r and the handyman came out that week. He ordered the part and came back the next week and it was fixed. Been running great since and no charge since I live in Turlock! I recommend you read their fine print- they provide a 90 day free warranty if you live in denair or Turlock. I see a lot of complaints from people outside that area, who were charged for the handyman to come out. It clearly states that on the order form when you purchase your appliance. If I could put a negative review I would! We paid them $75 to come out. The repair guy did nothing but clean the lint trap! The problem is with the moisture sensor which we told him. They took the $75, didn't fix the problem and do not want to come back out because we are not "local". Since when is Hickman not "local" to Denair?! It's seriously 10 minutes or less. They don't want to fix things or make things right and think people should just call someone else or buy a new $1000 dryer! Are you serious!? We'll never use them again! read more

Horrible customer service, very unprofessional. I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer set here 2 mos ago. After a few weeks I started noticing a small leak coming from the bottom of my washer but I was not too concerned at that point, however over the past few days my floor has flooded each time I run my washer. After calling to request someone to come check it out (being I still am 1 month within my warranty) I was told to read my paperwork, I will be charged an extra $40 service fee. When I asked why, since I am still under their (100% warranty) I was told I was outside of their covered area. So I did my research and I am actually only 3 miles outside of their "covered area" I find this ridiculous being that I spent my time, gas, and money to take my business to them in Denair, and when they are not able to back up their claim that they sell reliable appliances, they are not willing to come to Newman to please their customer because it is of inconvenience to them. Lesson Learned! *Waste of time, money, & headache. *Take your money elsewhere *They basically give their customers the middle finger when something goes wrong. *Warranty is a JOKE! *They won't have that "A rating" with the BBB very much longer doing business this way! read more

I chose a Kenmore Refrigerator and plan to go back for a washer/dryer set in the near future. I love the fridge-a way better designed model than some of the more expensive ones. I appreciate the time and friendliness she showed me and she took time to explain the whole process if something goes wrong, the warranty, etc. I know when we buy anything, then anything can go wrong. After a service call to check the needed repair for a washer, I ordered the part and requested a repair date. That call was $75. The repair man did not show up on the initial date and after a call to the business, we were told messages were left to advise of the cancellation as they were busy. We did not receive any voicemails. Finally, 2 weeks later, they were able to schedule the repair. He was approximately 30 min late after the hour he was originally scheduled. Furthermore, when asked to pay, he requested cash, which was not mentioned at time of service call. He was upset and had a poor attitude that he had to wait for us to obtain cash. We requested him to sign a receipt to indicate he received $140 cash and he refused. After some convincing, he signed the receipt and was very unprofessional. $215 total for the labor on the repair. The poor customer service is what will send me to another service, very unfortunate. read more
