I paid $95.00 for these people to put on a new handlock, which is a different color than the deadbolt and it was not keyed to the top lock as requested. After speaking to "Chris" about this issue, wrong color and not re-keyed, I was told that no service charge would be required, but a charge for the re-key. I told him about the different color as well. We were told that "something" had to be ordered. No reason why a real "locksmith", let alone a half intelligent person would even put on a different color handlock! After several weeks, no call returned to me as they said they would. Then I spoke with some David person who claims I did not request what was stated above. He said he has the phone recording... Now, the charge would be another $95. Bull crap to that! They are refusing to take care of their mistakes and got nasty with me! So be it.......

Elinor said they could and I ordered new locksets. After I received them, Luke showed up to install them and repair my doors. He went far and above the typical service call by advising I first check to be sure all spare keys worked in the lock. He actually went to retrieve one of the keys for me and discovered it did not work in all the new locks. Luke then re-keyed all the locks to a new factory master to be sure I did not get locked out. I spent about an hour calling every single Locksmith in the Charlotte area I could find for quotes. Every place I called tried to win me over with this "$19" service charge but said that each lock would be anywhere from "$29-$49" and that they wouldn't know until they arrived. Plus they try to win you over by sending out someone to quote, and that they "won't do any work without your approval," but you would still owe the $19 service charge. VALUE ADD: I don't like signing up for anything without a clear understanding of what I'm getting into which is why I made the choice to go with Consolidated Locksmiths. After spending 1-minute with them on the phone, I was relieved that I finally found a company who was providing me clarity into the two things I was looking for: 1) what they were going to charge me and 2) what was included in that price. They assured me that they don't play around with this guessing game, and they give you a clear understanding of what they will charge you before arrival. They were able to get me in the next day and were able to change my locks in 15-minutes! TOTAL COST: They have a flat $65 service charge plus $10/lock. So for two locks it will cost $85 total - and this includes tax. They give you 3 keys included with this purchase, and its about $3 for each one after that. They accept all major credit cards as well. They were an hour late to my appointment and were super apologetic and even gave me an extra 10% off as a courtesy. He was extremely professional and had me back inside my house within 5 minutes. What really sets this company apart is its advanced technology. I have a Kwikset Smart Halo system (Gen 5) lock, and every other locksmith I called wanted to drill the lock because these smart locks are extremely difficult--if not impossible--to pick. Fortunately, this locksmith had the LockTech Kwikset SmartKey GEN 5 Decoder/Digital Scope, which allowed for clean, non-destructive entry. The pricing was fair at $145 total, especially considering the specialized equipment and fast response time. The replacement smart lock would have been over $200 alone! Before leaving, he also made sure I could use my Kwikset smart key re-key system, so my existing keys continued to work--something I really appreciated.
