I contacted A-1 Mobile Window Tinting in Elk Grove while they were on a job tinting windows. I stopped, asked questions told them what I needed and the owner, Alan Helmer, quoted me a price for my two front side windows. He told me he could do the job that same day; unfortunately I can't recall the date but I think it was Weds 06.04.2020. He asked me to text him with my name, address, info and then he'd reach out to me once he was done. He never responded to my text, didn't call me back and never responded to my 2nd text. I was willing to pay cash, accepted his price, made myself available and stayed at home all day and yet no response. I'll assume he didn't need my business. I won't reach out to this company in the future, nor refer them to others. A simple call or text indicating he couldn't do the job, we needed to schedule for a different time would have been appreciated or something would have been great. My time is valuable and this was a wasted 5-6 hours. I used another vendor and am pleased with the product, customer service. read more

He did my window tint in January 2019 the tint started to bubble and peel I've called him a total of 30 times I sent him a total of about 20 to 30 text messages. He replied wait till it gets hotter. I have had 3 cars tinted by A-1 Mobile Tinting and all three of my cars look great. Very professional, came to my house and did the 08 Volvo C30 a yr ago, it has a round curvy window on back (very hard to tint) he did a fabulous job on it and it still looks great. He recently tinted the two front doors on my daughters 02 Honda CRV and did a great job. He also tinted all of my windows on my 2022 Hyundai Venue, it looks so sharp. Unfortunately, I've made the mistake of using this guy numerous times. First, we scheduled him for my husband's Cadillac a few years ago. I remember him being un-professional but no exact details to share. Then, we bought a gift card from him for our brother (because we liked the fact that he came to us). The guy was nearly an hour late, and when I called to ask my husband how the guy was doing he said he hadn't showed yet. I told them he needs to call the guy, and when he did the guy said he forgot about the appointment (he sounded drunk on the phone and said he was out on the boat). Since we already had a gift certificate we were stuck at this point. They re-scheduled for another day, and he was late AGAIN! This was all a couple years ago, and when my husband got a new truck, I wanted to get the front windows tinted as his fathers day gift. Immediately I thought of this company, and must have lost my mind because I thought maybe it'd be fine and plus I just love the convenience of someone coming to us instead of us going somewhere. I made the appt with him on Friday for a Tuesday, called him Monday again to confirm....then he calls us over an hour after our appt time and said he cant make it!WTF???!!! Here is my review: I spoke with Alan on Wednesday of last week (9/3/14) and scheduled an appointment with him for Friday at 1PM for two vehicles at my home. Prior to the call ending, he said he would be at my residence at noon (as I had somewhere to be later in the afternoon). I was surprised and frankly, based on the other reviews, was not holding my breath that he would be early. He did not disappoint... As expected, he did not show at noon, 1PM or at all. In July 2020 they came to my home to tint the windows of my 16 yr olds first car. A week later we washed the car and at their recommendation used 1/10 parts water and vinegar solution.. well washing the windows only made us discover the mistakes and cuts on the edges of the tint. The back window tint is not centered perfectly either. I sent him pictures. He said he would fix but ignored me thereafter. They are not the cheap $100 window tint places. All they talked about was covid being fake. It was not professional. At the time we didn't care about anything but the tint for our kids birthday. I've used A-1 4x over the past 8 years. He's amazingly good at what he does. Each new car gets the A-1 treatment. He's friendly and his prices are very reasonable. Has he always been right on time? No - but pretty close. He's a mobile service and that is a huge convenience for his customers. Sometimes traffic or a particularly difficult job earlier in the day might throw his planned schedule off a bit. Be patient and block off some extra time. It will be very worth it. My tint never bubbles after he works his magic. I drive a lot for my job and tend to go through cars often. A-1 will always get my business. read more

Alan answered my call right away and was able to come the same day to tint the two front windows on my Rover. Pros: Quick service, cheaper price than I was quoted by any other window tinting company and he was mobile. Cons: Alan said he would be there by noon but didn't get here til 1 pm. Being a little late isn't a big deal for me, but if your anal with time, make sure you reiterate with Alan, the meeting time.
