I would NOT recommend A-1 Exterminators. I hired them during the purchase of my home to perform an inspection. The technician, Richard, noted some issues, including some plumbing concerns--but completely failed to identify a major leak in the guest bathroom tub drain. After closing escrow, we discovered that when the tub is used, water pours out from the drain. This is not a subtle or hidden issue--it's very obvious and would have been caught if basic due diligence had been done (simply running water through the drain). I have video evidence of the leak. When I contacted the company to address this, Richard was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging the oversight, he hid behind a disclaimer that they are "not plumbers." That response is unacceptable. This wasn't a complex plumbing diagnosis--it was a clear, visible defect that should have been identified during any reasonable inspection. Between the missed issue and the unprofessional, disrespectful response, I have zero confidence in their services. Save yourself the stress and hire a company that stands behind their work. read more

Called A-1 Exterminators after realizing that there were termites in my family's home. They came out but weren't able to look at the problem because there was too much junk in the way for the inspection to be done. Don gave us his card, and told us to call back once the stuff is moved. A couple weeks later, we called and they were able to come and do the inspection. Don confirmed the termites and explained what the next steps would be. I am now currently waiting on the next steps so we can move forward with getting rid of these pests, but so far things have been great read more

A-1 was the company the selling agent wanted to use to do some minor repairs on the cabin I sold in Arnold. i had no problem with that and I guess the repairs were made. However, 5 months AFTER close of escrow I get an invoice for the repairs. They did not submit the invoice to he escrow company and when they did hey found out that escrow had closed. So now this week, five (5) months late I get their invoice in the mail. If you use them be veery careful with their accounting procedures because they are amateur. read more

Excellent work & friendly service. We were selling our house and agreed to pay for repairs noted in A-1's pest inspection. We were very pleased by Don's excellent work and attention to detail. Don's work was especially appreciated as our home is mid-century and a lot of the materials were special-order and expensive. However, the work product far exceeded my expectations. After the wood repairs were completed we felt very comfortable handling our well-loved and maintained house over to the buyers. In a crazy housing market where a lot of people forget to act right it's nice to know there's still companies like A-1 who still have friendly customer service and stand behind honest estimates and professional craftsmanship. read more

I normally only use Yelp for positive reviews but I am so upset I cant help myself. I am selling my house and the buyer contracted A-1 to come do the pest inspection. They ran up a ticket for almost $5,000. I looked at several of the items they had listed and became suspicious. So I paid for another pest inspection by a bay area company and sent the report to the buyer and their realtor. It was less than 25% of what they had quoted and when the buyer brought out a general contractor they were shocked at reading the report. Basically the inspector ran up the quote fabricated repairs that were not necessary. Do not use A-1!!!! Maybe they can do good pest control but as far as an inspector they are crooks read more

Outrageous estimates to repair termite damage. I don't know why it costs so much to spray chemicals.

My home is in escrow. The buyer' agent selected A-1 to do a terminte inspection on my home, which is only 1080 sq. ft of mobile home. They came back with almost $6000 in repairs to be done. Of course buyer wants me to pay. My son is in the trades and he told me that A-1 has a reputation for inflated pricing and also including non-existant problems. My brother-in-law is a customer home builder. Both of them said the estimate for repairs is about double what is should be. Be careful with these people. They are not honest. There were NO photos submitted as evidence with the report. read more

Life savers! I'm remodeling my home, the flooring guys were removing floor moldings & found TERMITES!!! Tick Tock, I'm only on vac 2 weeks, Have to have them move fast! Any delay and I'm in trouble! The guys could not put down the flooring until it was treaded. UGH! I went on FB an put out a call for referrals, I got several for A-1,so I pm'd Glen Reich. This was on around 8PM on Sunday night, he got rite back to me. AWESOME! He came by Monday afternoon (the holiday when everybody is closed) on his way back into town,Took a look around and told me what needed to be done. Before I started with Area Wide, I had another pest control company. They were OK but if I found ants or "bugs" between scheduled appointments, I sometimes had to wait for them to find time to fit me in. Area Wide staff are friendly and responsive. Wesley is my regular technician. If I have ants in kitchen, or notice few bugs in hall, I call Lisa, in the office. She has Wesley come out usually within day or two. Wesley is always polite and clean. He explains what he's doing and what I can expect. I recently had some water damage in laundry room at the ceiling. Repair required a section of the ceiling be opened up. I called Area Wide 'cause I was worried about "critters" (bugs 'n stuff) entering the house. It was between my scheduled visit, but Wesley set bait and traps, just in case. And never once have they charged for visits between my scheduled appointments! I absolutely would recommend Area Wide. If I could, I would give this business zero stars. Very unprofessional and lackadaisical. It took them about two months to complete a job that they said would only take two weeks. They are not consistent and then attempted to charge for work that was not completed. When asked to complete the work, we waited over a month and they never showed up. The work was left undone. I called for an estimate of deck repair, which was done in a timely fashion and appeared to be professional and extensive. The fee charged for pest inspection was to be included in the deck repair. So far so good. After not hearing anything from them for almost 2 months, I called and was told that "Courtney," the inspector, would call me back that very day to schedule the work. No call from Courtney. Long story short, I called them every week to schedule the work, for approximately 2-3 months and was told the very exact same thing, that I would "absolutely get a call back that same day." Never, ever heard a word. In today's mail, I get a "past due" notice for the pest inspection!!! That fee was supposed to be included in the repair bill. Also, I finally got smart and got a couple more estimates last week and they came in about 1/3 less than the A-1 estimate. I will NOT do business with A-1 or recommend them. I called A-1 Exterminators after hearing that my husband observed a rat in our backyard last night. Oh No!!! RATS AND MICE are my greatest enemies and fear. Okay, sooooo I IMMEDIATELY went into ULTIMATE COMBAT MODE and called A-1 Exterminators. Brittany answered the phone. She was courteous, pleasant and listened to my concern. She laced up her boots and called Christian. Christian arrived to my home IMMEDIATELY (within an hour) and assessed my attic for rodent activity. Thank God; Christian didnt see any rodent activity inside of my peaceful palace. However, Christian was HONEST, knowledgeable and didn't lie to me just to solicit business. Although I don't need A-1's services; I will Definitely be referring anyone that does to A-1 Exterminators. NO need to call Clark or the rest; A-1 is totally the BEST!!! I had A-1 perform a pest inspection on a house I had in escrow on a Tuesday. The inspector showed up on time and did a thorough job and told us he would have the report in a "couple days." I checked with the office on Thursday and he hadn't turned anything in. Then I called Friday and said I really needed it that day. Again, he hadn't turned it in. Then I talked to the inspector and he said he would definitely have it ready by Monday morning. When nothing was emailed that morning, I called the office and they said he had just turned it in that morning and would have to type it up. I ended up getting it on Tuesday, a full week after the inspection. I was not happy with the time frame. I won't use them again, as I am afraid it will take a week to get the report. When we are in escrow, timeframes are everything! read more

I am giving A-1 Exterminator 2 stars just because people there are very nice and friendly, you can feel that they are willing to help you. Guess my case is different. I had them perform fumigation back in October at my house in Lodi, CA. They started on Friday and took the tarp out on Monday. Sunday night, my house got burglarized and took $10K worth of stuff. When I get back home on Thursday night, I learned about the burglary. I called the police right there. I called A-1 on Friday morning which I was told that they know about the burglary when they took the tarp that Monday and they claimed to have left me a voicemail which I did not receive. Long story short, I did get a bill from them the next day which they have kindly deducted $500 off. Yes, I paid them. I am just very disappointed that they did not call the police after learning the burglary which I would think is the right thing to do. They also told me that I have signed a document that has a line which states that they are not responsible for any burglary, surely enough - it's there in line 63. read more

We had a home for sale and we called A-1 Exterminators the biggest mistake of our life. It was ovious they were trying to drum up bussiness the the company. By the time it was said and done their repairs were about 3,000.00 Dollars. Dumbfounded by this all we had enough common sences to have a second look at the home a second inspection. They never thank me for my business or even act happy that I'd like to use their service. I feel like I'm bothering them!
