I always counted on the 99's for the nachos, boneless buffalo wings, steak tips, coconut shrimp, salads. However, they recently made a few changes and got rid of the nachos and shrimp. :o( I also noticed the steak tips are cut much smaller and the once jumbo boneless wings are now small. This review is more about our server, although the food was also very good. Her name was Chelsea, and she was very congenial and helpful, which is becoming rare these days. My wife's grilled chicken was good. I got the seafood chowder, which was great. Followed by the "Signature" Steak which was worth the $3.-upcharge over the regular sirloin. It was tender, flavorful and trimmed so well, not a morsel was left on the plate. I've paid more for a lesser steak, that's for sure. I had taken a long break from the 99, but this visit today has won me back as a regular. Thanks Chelsea, for taking pride in your work! P.S. I've been here many times over the years, with the most recent visit being last night. Our group got the buffalo wings and potato skins app...classic bar food, but good. They accommodated the special request to put the buffalo sauce on the side (for the spicy food hater in our group), which was good. My meal was delish - I had the baked salmon with spices only - no glaze. It came with grilled tomatoes, asparagus, and broccoli. The salmon came out perfectly; the way I can never get it at home!! I appreciated this healthy low-cal option after having had those fried apps and some popcorn. All of my dining companions were equally happy with their meals. The last time I was here my drinking partner and I got frozen margaritas, which weren't the best of the best, but they were really really good for a cheap, random, mid-week lunchtime buzz!! We decided to do take out and our French onion soup was great but the county fried chicken was all bread and no chicken.. No exaggeration.. It had to have been a new person on the grill. I am starting to think we need to stop going to this 99 read more

The 99's continuously holds the title for consistency. I've never had a bad meal here. The prices are extremely fair and the service is top-notch. This place has become the hub for townies (Stoneham and elsewhere), so there are a lot of regulars. It's right off Rt. 95/128, and I'm sure this prime location has a lot to do with their success. It began the demise (and eventually closing) of the crappy Ground Round down the street. I guess they just did some new renovations which I haven't seen, but apparently they expanded the bar and whatnot. Which is good, because it was pretty small. The bartenders are funny and cool. Hmmm...what else. Service is great, the food is always well-prepared, with quite a bit of variety on the menu. The 99's has a pub-like feel with Americana on the walls, yet it's also very accommodating for children. It seats quite a few people, but unless you do the call-ahead seating, you're going to be waiting for a while during dinner hours. The only REAL reason I don't always like coming here is because I may not want to run into somebody I know! read more

Consistently GREAT quality and tasting food for a budget! I've gotten the fried and baked Fish and Chips with the vegetable of the day and garlic mashed potatoes about 20 times! It's one of the most consistently fresh and fantastic tasting fish meals I've gotten anywhere any time. I've had it in and taken it out - ALWAYS good! And the Steak Burgers are FANTASTIC! One of the only steak burgers I've ever had that actually tasted like steak! I would eat at least at this 99 restaurant at any time - its consistently good - no matter what you order pretty much. The service is usually good - had bum service only once or twice. I would give this place an 87%+ rating for excellent food and service consistently. read more

tonight i called ahead at 6:12 and they told me 20 minutes. we waited until 7:20 to be seated. on top of the long wait i ordered a salad and there was a bug inside. they deducted the price from my bill but it was still an overall bad experience. i was not impressed tonight. read more

I usually like this particular 99 on Main Street in Stoneham near Redstone, but after today will NOT go back! The 99 likes to take really good meals off of their menu without notifying or asking what the customers want. Is it only money that matters to the 99? They took off a seafood combo plate that was 9.99 to 13.99but you got a lot of food. It came with one stuffed clam, a cup of clam chowder, fried shrimp, fried haddock, and fried scallops and a side of French fries & coke slaw. Taken off the menu a couple months ago. Then our waitress was very nice, but her nails looked unprofessional. Long pink pretty nails with a nail missing or two. Very nice until I decided not to order anything and then she ignored me. I was with my mother. I know I was difficult in the beginning, but to ignore me when we ask for the check and then to only tell my mother to have a nice day and NOT me, very unprofessional. I did order a drink. We sat in half booth, half table right in the area where you can see the kitchen. When walking in the restaurant, you go straight back and it's the first table to your right, up against the wall. Our waitress had dirty blonde hair very tall and thin. Wore hair pulled back in a ponytail. We were there around 3:45 to 5pm. Not really impressed with any of the lobster rolls which are in the menu. Great price, but very bland. Love the fish taco's, but since I had that already earlier this week, didn't want to order it again. Appreciate that the waitress did listen to what I wanted, asked about it even though she knew it was off the menu and then suggested clam chowder knowing that came with the dish. I really appreciate that, but to be ignored and not looked at at all or told to have a nice day when my mom asked for the check, is unacceptable. 99 in Revere and Lynnfield have much better service. Please don't waste your time going to this particular 99. Service is not consistent at this place. read more

We visit the various 99's quite often. The food is decent, the staff are fine, the atmosphere is usually good. My only complaint is the physical menus themselves. They are too big, there are too many pages, there are too many pictures, and they are arranged very poorly. We spend 10 minutes flipping through the various pages trying to find what we want. I know what a cheeseburger or a turkey club looks like....I don't need a picture. I wish they would go to a "traditional" text-only menu, just arranged as appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, and desserts. Half the time I know what I want and can't find it. read more

The food was terrible, the service was terrible, and dinner took 3 hours. I went to the 99 on a random Wednesday night hoping for a decent meal served in a timely fashion. We arrived at 6:30pm. The food took forever to get to the table and our server was incredibly rude. After dinner, our waiter disappeared for an hour. We begged for the check and he told us that the computer was down. I asked for our bill, so we could pay in cash. He refused and disappeared again. I was a big fan of the 99 chain before this night. I don't think that I'm ever going again... read more

The service was very good, and the food was excellent. We had 30 people in our group, cellebrating my mom's 90th birthday. The area was decorated nicely for a birthday get together, and everyone was made to feel comfortable. We all had a great time and enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the wonderful staff. read more

Have been to the Stonehame location twice since moving here. Both have been very pleasant experiences with good food and great friendly service. The 2nd visit we had an excepionally great server "Michael". Keep up the great job! Will be back read more

The food was okay, the service was great. Had a hard time getting from the handicap parking on one side of the building to the door on the other. I decided to order the Seasoned Salmon and much to my delight it was the BEST salmon I have ever had. They cook it to perfection. Moist, juicy,seasoned deliciously and very good size serving. It's a must try for anyone who likes salmon and if you don't .. try it anyway ... it's to die for. read more

I will start off by saying there is no good restrount chain in all of Massachusetts this restrount stunk too it all began this time with getting a terrible waitress I went with my gf we get in there and we don't have to wait we sit down right away but we sat next to a party of loud old folks and trust me at least 80 percent of the people eating were old people it's like a nursing home starring at you in 3d so we get this horrible waitress who gave us are drinks my gf got wine I got a coke and it tasted like watered down tolit water I got the baked stuffed clams for a appetizer and the dumb waitress did not bring it over until are main dinner came so by that time it was cold and tasted like crap for dinner I got the country fried chicken and it was fried to much so I ate it but it was to crispy and dry my gf got the top Sirloin steak and she said it was the worst piece of meat she ever had well done fatty crap so I got the waitress to get the manager over and I waited 10 minutes for him to come over and when he did I said I need a refund for my meals and after arguing with him I got him to take the steak off the bill for dessert I got hot fudge sundae they gave us no cherry not enough fudge and when they bought it out to us it was all melted and was crap so I paid the bill gave the crappy waitress five bucks for her trouble walked out and they said have a good night and I said back it was and not a word back horrible place to eat 99 sucks folks never go there read more
