Came here with the family for lunch on a Friday Aaron was our server and everything started out. Great. However, it's slowly went downhill. The bar took forever to get our drinks. We also ordered a few appetizers, including the coconut shrimp, and the triple platter. Everything was very good. Haven't been here since before the pandemic, and was pleasantly reconnected. The food was excellent: My wife had the Vermont Cheddar burger and I had the Chicken Sausage El-Forno with French Onion soup on the side. What made the experience so memorable was our attentive and super friendly server Jackie! She made sure we had everything we needed when we needed it. How many servers do you know have your drink refills ready before you ask for them? I didn't think I'd be a fan of 99 Restaurants, but to my surprise, I actually was! My coworker suggested we pick up lunch there and we ended up going two days in a row. The menu has tons of options, so there's truly something for everyone. The food isn't overly flavorful, but everything was cooked well. My favorite thing I tried was the Boneless Wings, delicious! When we came to pick up our food, they didn't have any plastic utensils in stock, so they gave us legit silverware! We didn't stay to eat, but the place looked alright, nothing fancy, and a bit outdated. There aren't a ton of non fast food options in the area outside of the casino, so this is a decent option for something else. read more

When you see 3 stars it's automatically assumed it's bad as most people would deem 4 stars as the baseline. Nothing really stood out in particular good or bad. We ordered a number of things ranging from calamari to what they call their crave plates which are essentially 2 smaller entrees in one for a higher price. The only thing I would advise not to order are anything with chicken tenders. We got kids meals and the tenders were definitely sub par... like left too long in the air fryer and the kind of tenders you get are the cheapest mass produced kind with the orange batter as opposed to the light colored batter Since this is closer to an Applebees/chilis type of place, I would rather come here and go to those places for the ambiance and service. read more

I walked in and was greeted immediately. I asked if there was any openings at the bar and the young lady said yes and directed me to a spot that had open seating. The end of the bar gives a good view of the restaurant. The bartender, Adam, was my server as well. He was very nice. I ordered a skinny margarita, seafood stuffies and the royal steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The Seafood Stuffies were good. The Royal Steak was cooked, correctly. Medium. It wasn't overly seasoned and I did add salt, pepper and butter to the dish and it pumped it up a bit. Yes i had a to go box... as usual. Manager Kiara stopped and asked me how my dinner was. I hope i spelled her name right. She told me that Adam had been here for a long time and he has a following/regulars that come, in addition to Thursday Trivia night, and she hopes to see me back again. Boys and Girls Club donations were underway during my visit. I donated five dollars to that because I know that the program is absolutely great weekend! The restaurant gave $5.00 gift certificates for those who donate $5 or more. They are understaffed and are welcoming new employees. Parking lot outside needs more lighting. I drive around the building because there is limited parking. The backside of the building is very dark and I would be hesitant to park back there because of that. Had a great lunch. The staff covers each other efficiently. Gabby did an ex thin as our waitress. My wife had the fish sandwich which came with a kicked up mayo. I had the smothered steak tips that were cook to perfection with rice and a veggie. The meal came quickly ( would have liked more time with the drink but we didn't order an appetizer so...meal on the table). While there are plenty of TVs and the crowd was decent for the time of day, we didn't have an issue talking across the table. Overall great job for this location. read more

Alana was awesome and friendly from greeting us, making small talk, and seating us. After a few times order for lunch ,for work. I've noticed a much smaller portion and less care for the same price. I ordered the $17 balsamic chicken. I got one small chicken breast with the smallest scoop of broccoli and bowl of Cole slaw which seemed like the only thing properly portioned. I also ordered a $8 house salad with honey mustard dressing which wasn't even filled half way up with dressing. We all know the cost of things have gone up. So why do I feel like I'm getting ripped off for paying the same price of something I'm getting half of when I would get the bigger ( normal) amount if I was to dine in. While the waitress was kind and good at her job, the food presentation was disappointing I have NEVER been to a restaurant where a "dinner meal" like "steak" did not include a salad. Ordered "Rare" Steak and partner ordered "Medium Rare" Mine was more cooked than his. We were served our steaks which may or may not have been the "right size" with a small serving of vegetable (chosen from three) and a small serving of rice or potato. No sides of any sort were included. No breads. No salads. I am of the impressionn we would have had to pay extra for those. The drinks of course were extra as well. I am a senior. I guess I am remembering old days so to speak. My father, a chef, never would have put out a plate like that and called it a dinner. Never got served because the manager (?) on duty who was doing seating would not allow our party (a large family with 8 people plus a baby) to sit together. Understandable with the current restrictions. My problem was with his delivery. He was condescending and rude. I've never seen him before at our recent trips to dine out there. We usually have a decent meal and the wait staff is great (even the server appeared to think he was being rude by her reaction as well as her empathetic tone toward us). Maybe he had a bad day? Even so, please don't take it out on us. A little courtesy and empathy go a long way in the restaurant business and dealing with the public. He is definitely not an asset to 99. Too bad. Horrible horrible horrible experience, I ordered the steak and seafood trio combo and they forgot the schrod and shrimp, I told the waitress and got a nasty attitude from her, she rudely pulled the plate from me and asked me if I wanted them to remake my food, I told her it's just missing the schrod and the shrimp I don't mind keeping it and just wait on the shrimp and schrod but she was just too rude and took the plate and said she had to throw it out, so by the time my food arrived my family was done eating and I had to eat alone. Not sure who's doing the cooking or if it's just that they've changed suppliers, but the last few times I've ordered takeout the food had been sub-par. Last night I ordered the fish and chips for myself and a kids cheeseburger for my granddaughter. The cheesesburger (ordered medium) was very well done (similar to a hockey Puck) and the fried fish tasted old and rancid. My kids keep giving me gift cards to 99 because at one time the food was delicious. Sorry to say that is no longer the case and I will be requesting that they no longer continue the practice. My husband and I had dinner at 99 on West Town Street in Norwich, CT at 4:15pm on a Saturday in July. We were seated right away and ordered iced teas. For dinner, I ordered the Hot Buttered Downeaster Combo which included a lobster roll, "a sampling of" seafood chowder, french fries and coleslaw. My husband ordered the Grilled Tuscan Sirloin and a side of vegetable, beef barley soup. Our soups were served within an appropriate timeframe, but we waited quite a long time for our entrees. The kitchen was very slow. When we mentioned it to our server, she shyly agreed that she was well aware. My lobster roll was tiny, although it was filled with lobster knuckle meat and not claw tips. The slaw was tasty but the portion was small. Fries seemed to be hand-cut and were quite good. The sample of seafood chowder that was included was OK but only included one, tiny shrimp and maybe a clam or two. It was obvious that the restaurant chain makes its money on fillers like potatoes; it would have cost them next to nothing to include a bit more shrimp and clams in the chowder and serve more cole slaw. The sirloin steak was small but cooked to order. The vegetable side dish was scant and unmemorable with one, slim stalk of asparagus and no artichokes or sun-dried tomatoes which were in the description. The bacon marmalade was quite tasty, though. A small pile of mashed potatoes helped to complete the meal. Bottom line - PORTIONS ARE VERY SMALL and the kitchen is SLOW. On a positive note... our server completely exceeded expectations in that I have never witnessed a more dedicated server! This nice young lady was extremely attentive, and we could see her at the kitchen window prompting the cook-staff to hurriedly complete our order. For many reasons we ended up leaving her close to a 30% tip. I don't recall her name, but she had lightly pink dyed hair - thank you, Pink! I don't think we'll go to a 99 Restaurant again - it's not worth it. read more

Stopped into 99 this afternoon for lunch. We tried their summer fresh fruit margaritas, pineapple and watermelon. Yum! both had chunks of fresh fruit floating around in the drink. Also tried the RI calamari (not impressed) was greasy and the hot peppers were not spicy. Now the main entrees were awesome! The 6oz Top Sirloin steak was rare as ordered, it had great flavor. The new Smokehouse burger was also excellent, we did substitute cheddar cheese for the Gouda cheese (because Gouda doesn't melt).
