Haven't been here since before the pandemic, and was pleasantly reconnected. The food was excellent: My wife had the Vermont Cheddar burger and I had the Chicken Sausage El-Forno with French Onion soup on the side. What made the experience so memorable was our attentive and super friendly server Jackie! She made sure we had everything we needed when we needed it. How many servers do you know have your drink refills ready before you ask for them? So, to wrap things up (yeah, we needed doggy bags) between the great food and great service, we will certainly be making return trips. read more

Came here with the family for lunch on a Friday Aaron was our server and everything started out. Great. However, it's slowly went downhill. The bar took forever to get our drinks. We also ordered a few appetizers, including the coconut shrimp, and the triple platter. Everything was very good. I also got a buffalo chicken sandwich which came with pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce My wife ordered the three course meal with a salad, some type of steak, which was more like a burger and dessert This is a chain restaurant and nothing fancy. The service was OK but the weird time was unacceptable especially on a Friday when the place wasn't packed. read more

We went in very excited to try the prime rib on special. We went on a Sunday hardly anybody there the waitress was inattentive. The mashed potatoes that came with our meal were gray and looked like they've been just plopped on the plate and just lay there in a blob( they were tasteless and even when we had to request butter it didn't help). The prime rib did not look or taste fresh and a huge hunk of it was just fat. We were extremely disappointed that the meal was over $64 that's without any alcohol one drink of lemonade and no dessert. Then having to tip the 20% just killed me. Second time hugely disappointed at this location. read more

Staff was super friendly here but the food and drinks I was not satisfied with. I ordered the TOP SIRLOIN STEAK* with coleslaw for the side. The steak had the consistency of a burger.(Basically ground meat) I barely ate it. As far as my side salad it was good and so were the coconut fried shrimp. Prices are super low here but it shows with the quantity of the food. read more

Good service at the bar, fair prices, good food that came out quickly! Love the popcorn they give you when you sit down. Only complaint was the baked potato...not bad, but not great either. Join their rewards, I got a free appetizer with entree coupon after visiting so I'll be back this week! Drinks are pretty weak so I switched to beer, decent prices on beer and frosted mugs :) read more

2nd visit to a 99 this time in Norwich CT and it was worse than the first in NH where they just served substandard food, this time was actual bugs on the lettuce. I alerted the Mgr and his first response was to say they didn't process the lettuce, like that's an excuse for complete lack of quality control in the kitchen? His visible lack of concern for exactly what that means was stunning! My opinion as someone who spent years in professional kitchens, Do not eat here! read more

I didn't think I'd be a fan of 99 Restaurants, but to my surprise, I actually was! My coworker suggested we pick up lunch there and we ended up going two days in a row. The menu has tons of options, so there's truly something for everyone. The food isn't overly flavorful, but everything was cooked well. My favorite thing I tried was the Boneless Wings, delicious! When we came to pick up our food, they didn't have any plastic utensils in stock, so they gave us legit silverware! We didn't stay to eat, but the place looked alright, nothing fancy, and a bit outdated. There aren't a ton of non fast food options in the area outside of the casino, so this is a decent option for something else. read more

We go to this place often. The service in the bar is great. Adam and Gloria take good care of everyone. Happy hour is terrific. The food is very good even though its a chain. Prices are reasonable. read more

When you see 3 stars it's automatically assumed it's bad as most people would deem 4 stars as the baseline. Nothing really stood out in particular good or bad. We ordered a number of things ranging from calamari to what they call their crave plates which are essentially 2 smaller entrees in one for a higher price. The only thing I would advise not to order are anything with chicken tenders. We got kids meals and the tenders were definitely sub par... like left too long in the air fryer and the kind of tenders you get are the cheapest mass produced kind with the orange batter as opposed to the light colored batter Since this is closer to an Applebees/chilis type of place, I would rather come here and go to those places for the ambiance and service. read more

Baby Back Rib is super tender. Only $17.99 for half-rack with 2 side dishes, which is pretty worthy. I also ordered the sirloin steak. $20/person is a very good value and good price. Besides, the waitress was polite and welcomed us, available parking in front of the restaurant. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service and atmosphere read more

I walked in and was greeted immediately. I asked if there was any openings at the bar and the young lady said yes and directed me to a spot that had open seating. The end of the bar gives a good view of the restaurant. The bartender, Adam, was my server as well. He was very nice. I ordered a skinny margarita, seafood stuffies and the royal steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The Seafood Stuffies were good. The Royal Steak was cooked, correctly. Medium. It wasn't overly seasoned and I did add salt, pepper and butter to the dish and it pumped it up a bit. Yes i had a to go box... as usual. Manager Kiara stopped and asked me how my dinner was. I hope i spelled her name right. She told me that Adam had been here for a long time and he has a following/regulars that come, in addition to Thursday Trivia night, and she hopes to see me back again. Boys and Girls Club donations were underway during my visit. I donated five dollars to that because I know that the program is absolutely great weekend! The restaurant gave $5.00 gift certificates for those who donate $5 or more. They are understaffed and are welcoming new employees. Parking lot outside needs more lighting. I drive around the building because there is limited parking. The backside of the building is very dark and I would be hesitant to park back there because of that. The lighting out front wasn't very bright either. Note. My food came out pretty quick but just in case, They are working with limited staff, so patience is a plus, from patrons. Be kind! read more

Had a great lunch. The staff covers each other efficiently. Gabby did an ex thin as our waitress. My wife had the fish sandwich which came with a kicked up mayo. I had the smothered steak tips that were cook to perfection with rice and a veggie. The meal came quickly ( would have liked more time with the drink but we didn't order an appetizer so...meal on the table). While there are plenty of TVs and the crowd was decent for the time of day, we didn't have an issue talking across the table. Overall great job for this location. read more

10 out of 10 service from this location!! We were a party of 7 without reservations on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Alana was awesome and friendly from greeting us, making small talk, and seating us. She accommodated our every need and made sure she sat all of us together at one table while maintaining safety and covid regulations. Our server Rich was lovely from the moment we met him! He is such a friendly person and cracked a joke on us here and there. He was also super attentive throughout our entire time there. The food was great! The boneless wings and skins sampler was amazing! They were super generous with their portion size as well. read more

99 in Norwich, Conneticut. Great food, quiet atmosphere and good prices. I give this place a "thumbs up". Largest restaurant in the area with FRESH food (plenty of chain restaurants all around it) But if you want a freshly-cooked meal with good service, stop in at 99 while in Norwich read more

After a few times order for lunch ,for work. I've noticed a much smaller portion and less care for the same price. I ordered the $17 balsamic chicken. I got one small chicken breast with the smallest scoop of broccoli and bowl of Cole slaw which seemed like the only thing properly portioned. I also ordered a $8 house salad with honey mustard dressing which wasn't even filled half way up with dressing. We all know the cost of things have gone up. So why do I feel like I'm getting ripped off for paying the same price of something I'm getting half of when I would get the bigger ( normal) amount if I was to dine in. Please improve on your dine out customers they want quality too. read more

I had not been to that restaurant (Norwich) in many many years. That said; I was disappointed. While the waitress was kind and good at her job, the food presentation was disappointing I have NEVER been to a restaurant where a "dinner meal" like "steak" did not include a salad. Ordered "Rare" Steak and partner ordered "Medium Rare" Mine was more cooked than his. We were served our steaks which may or may not have been the "right size" with a small serving of vegetable (chosen from three) and a small serving of rice or potato. No sides of any sort were included. No breads. No salads. I am of the impressionn we would have had to pay extra for those. The drinks of course were extra as well. I am a senior. I guess I am remembering old days so to speak. My father, a chef, never would have put out a plate like that and called it a dinner. Too; the ambiance was "ok" but certainly did not expect to be seated next to playing children. Oh well... Lesson learned. Willl cross them off the list of weekly restaurant trips read more

Food was good. Couldn't finish my dinner so I got a take out box. Accidentally forgot the box on the table and went back within 10 minutes and the waiter, Brandon had already gotten rid of my take out box. He could of rightfully left it with the hostess for at least 30 minutes. Very disappointed. Food is expensive and eating out is a luxury these days. Very disappointed once again. read more

Never got served because the manager (?) on duty who was doing seating would not allow our party (a large family with 8 people plus a baby) to sit together. Understandable with the current restrictions. My problem was with his delivery. He was condescending and rude. I've never seen him before at our recent trips to dine out there. We usually have a decent meal and the wait staff is great (even the server appeared to think he was being rude by her reaction as well as her empathetic tone toward us). Maybe he had a bad day? Even so, please don't take it out on us. A little courtesy and empathy go a long way in the restaurant business and dealing with the public. He is definitely not an asset to 99. Too bad. Thankfully we did find a local restaurant to accommodate us. A little common sense goes a long way. read more

Horrible horrible horrible experience, I ordered the steak and seafood trio combo and they forgot the schrod and shrimp, I told the waitress and got a nasty attitude from her, she rudely pulled the plate from me and asked me if I wanted them to remake my food, I told her it's just missing the schrod and the shrimp I don't mind keeping it and just wait on the shrimp and schrod but she was just too rude and took the plate and said she had to throw it out, so by the time my food arrived my family was done eating and I had to eat alone. Happy birthday to me smh. read more

Not sure who's doing the cooking or if it's just that they've changed suppliers, but the last few times I've ordered takeout the food had been sub-par. Last night I ordered the fish and chips for myself and a kids cheeseburger for my granddaughter. The cheesesburger (ordered medium) was very well done (similar to a hockey Puck) and the fried fish tasted old and rancid. My kids keep giving me gift cards to 99 because at one time the food was delicious. Sorry to say that is no longer the case and I will be requesting that they no longer continue the practice. A really good place gone bad. read more

The location is well kept. The food came out quickly and was appealing. The baked potato was over cooked but chicken was delicious! Martini had a lot of pulp. There were kids at the bar at 10:30pm and a customer yelling about a golden shower which staff laughed and jokingly responded to. read more

My husband and I had dinner at 99 on West Town Street in Norwich, CT at 4:15pm on a Saturday in July. We were seated right away and ordered iced teas. For dinner, I ordered the Hot Buttered Downeaster Combo which included a lobster roll, "a sampling of" seafood chowder, french fries and coleslaw. My husband ordered the Grilled Tuscan Sirloin and a side of vegetable, beef barley soup. Our soups were served within an appropriate timeframe, but we waited quite a long time for our entrees. The kitchen was very slow. When we mentioned it to our server, she shyly agreed that she was well aware. My lobster roll was tiny, although it was filled with lobster knuckle meat and not claw tips. The slaw was tasty but the portion was small. Fries seemed to be hand-cut and were quite good. The sample of seafood chowder that was included was OK but only included one, tiny shrimp and maybe a clam or two. It was obvious that the restaurant chain makes its money on fillers like potatoes; it would have cost them next to nothing to include a bit more shrimp and clams in the chowder and serve more cole slaw. The sirloin steak was small but cooked to order. The vegetable side dish was scant and unmemorable with one, slim stalk of asparagus and no artichokes or sun-dried tomatoes which were in the description. The bacon marmalade was quite tasty, though. A small pile of mashed potatoes helped to complete the meal. Bottom line - PORTIONS ARE VERY SMALL and the kitchen is SLOW. On a positive note... our server completely exceeded expectations in that I have never witnessed a more dedicated server! This nice young lady was extremely attentive, and we could see her at the kitchen window prompting the cook-staff to hurriedly complete our order. For many reasons we ended up leaving her close to a 30% tip. I don't recall her name, but she had lightly pink dyed hair - thank you, Pink! I don't think we'll go to a 99 Restaurant again - it's not worth it. read more

Hubs and I stopped here while tooling around the area on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised, We just guessed at what to expect, as we're not from New England, and it appears to be a NE-specific chain. Our waitress (who said they just finished a renovation) was friendly and efficient - always a good start. My husband's burger came out as requested and his fries were tasty. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on some very tasty cibatta, alongside an equally yum Caesar salad. We were only slightly naughty in terms of dessert, ordering the platter of three mini desserts (chocolate cake, Key lime pie, and cannoli somethingorother) to split. The bill was about what one would expect to pay for two sodas, two entrees, and one dessert at a chain restaurant. Overall, we're rooting for this chain to make an appearance in our neighborhood. read more

It all began when it took the waitress 20 minutes to get us our drinks after it took her 15 minutes to take our drink order.(Shout out the horrible waitress Cassandra it's not cool to try and blame the kitchen either). We placed our food orders when she took our drink orders and after about an hour and fifteen minutes of waiting she finally brought out our food and it wasn't even warm. There were also two other patrons that stood up and left after not getting there drink orders taken 20 minutes after sitting down. read more

I generally do not like to go to chain-type restaurants. 99 is an exception! I really like this place..You know, just a family-friendly, reasonably priced, decent food kinda place. Stopped into 99 this afternoon for lunch. We tried their summer fresh fruit margaritas, pineapple and watermelon. Yum! both had chunks of fresh fruit floating around in the drink. Also tried the RI calamari (not impressed) was greasy and the hot peppers were not spicy. Now the main entrees were awesome! The 6oz Top Sirloin steak was rare as ordered, it had great flavor. The new Smokehouse burger was also excellent, we did substitute cheddar cheese for the Gouda cheese (because Gouda doesn't melt). Would definitely go there again if we could get a repeat of the food and the service, our waitress Siobhan(?) probably spelled wrong but she was an excellent server. read more
