Really like the food. Beer was nice n cold, and good selection. Was very pleased at how tasty good food was. I got corned beef and my friends steak was delicious. We got the wings to have on our road trip next day but had to try while hot, did not disappoint! Great smokiness and bite! Ambiance was nicely local. Prices were very reasonable for food served. Unfortunately, our visit last month was an awful experience from start to finish. The issues began almost immediately when I discovered the locks in the women's bathroom were broken -- I actually ended up trapped in a stall and since banging on the door for help didn't work, had to call my friend to come in and rescue me. To make matters worse, there was no soap available, which is both unpleasant and unacceptable. Service didn't improve things. We were seated off to the side and seemed to be forgotten about for most of the meal. It felt like we were an afterthought the entire time, which is weird because there were several other occupied tables around us. The food itself was equally disappointing. I ordered the fish & chips, and the fish was both overcooked and somehow mushy at the same time. My friend's meal was greasy and unappetizing. On top of that, there was clearly a problem with the soda machine -- it had run out of syrup, and multiple people mentioned it to the waitress, who didn't seem to believe anyone. The frustrating part is that the restaurant itself is cute and has real potential, but the experience left us both pretty scarred. read more

We decided to come here on a Saturday where the bartender was really nice and put on the game we wanted to watch. The rest of the staff was attentive and kind. We got the steak bruschetta to split as an app and that was great. I got the pastrami bomb and it was good but really salty. Given the food prices, I would say a great place to get a drink but not the food. read more

Made reservations for a party of 9, requested the rooftop. The service was top notch, we had our own waiter and bartender. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, and when asked, he gave great recommendations. The food, was also very good. It came out quick, and together with nothing being cold. If you have a larger party, I highly recommend this establishment. It's a hidden gem! read more

We had originally planned to dine at a different Irish pub but even after verifying they were open through the website, when we arrived, it was closed. OK, taking a look on Yelp, this spot is nearby and open so off we go. We definitely have a knack for arriing at restaurants at 'off' meal times. Which we actually love. When we arrived there were maybe 5 parties total in the restaurant and most were at the bar. We also seated ourselves at the bar, ordered a Guinness and looked over the menu. The bartender was the only person working on this floor. The second floor looks to be a private function room and the roof has a huge full bar, also staffed by one bartender and lots of tables, chairs and umbrellas on two levels of deck. There are also restrooms up there. We started with the Blarney Stones app. This is a lot of food and very tasty. If you like steak and cheese, this could be a good app for you and would feed at least 4, or cut them in half for more. My cesear salad was not quite as fresh as it could be, but still very edible and the dressing was good. This is a very large salad and a good size for the price. The reuben sandwich is exactly what you would expect, tasty and comes with a side of good fries. I can see this place must be hopping after work or on the weekends. Especially on a balmy summy evening, that rooftop bar would be a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the evening if you live nearby. There are some big trees out there lending a cool shade and as it is so high, you catch the breeze. Parking is on-street or in a local garage. There are restroom on the lower level, up a few steps from the dining area. Definitely not handicapped accessible and no baby changing station. There is a pool table to the left of the ground floor bar, which by the way wraps around a couple of corners, so there's a good amount of bar seating available. read more

We were looking for a place to grab dinner in Norwich, and went with Harp and Dragon. There were mixed reviews I had read, but we had nothing but a positive experience from beginning to end. To start, the service was pretty good for us, but also seemed a bit unorganized. We saw the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate, which I had never seen in a restaurant before. Drinks were good and not overpriced. Good selection of beer, as well as specialty drinks. For food, we ordered buffalo wings, the mac & cheese, and a side of fries. I was very impressed with the wings. Usually when I order buffalo wings, they don't have much spice, but these were a perfect amount of spice, and also had a good crunch to them. The bleu cheese they were served with was phenomenal, it tasted maybe house made? My friend was very pleased with her mac & cheese. She said it was very flavorful and creamy. We shared a basket of fries which were delicious. You could tell they were hand cut fries, doesn't seem like they cut corners here. All in all a great experience and a cool bar environment, I wish it was a bit closer to me and I'd be here all the time!! read more

I have been here three times and had this dragon bowl twice. One of the best meals I've ever had. Crispy honey garlic chicken with creamed corn, cheddar cheese and mashed potatoes. SO GOOD. It's a similar mix to the KFC famous bowl but this is so so much better. read more

When in town, as in Norwich, stop by Harp & Dragon for some quick eats. Took a short family trip to Ledyard CT near by and the Main Street area definitely took an impact from COVID, some shops have shuttered. Harp & Dragon Pub is open, has outdoor seating up on their roof deck. It was too hot on the day of our visit so we ordered to go. Apparently - this part of town is "mask" optional so use your own judgment. Patrons & staff were not covered; they do provide hand sanitizer. We got a few pub staples such as Buffalo Wings (can't go wrong!), Burgers (decent), Reuben (a little tough but decent), and Chicken fingers (over fried). Recommend sticking with regular bar food and you'll be fine. Service was friendly and we gave a tip (16%) for take out. It's the new normal my friends. read more

We had the Guinness chicken and mashed potatoes (more like BBQ chicken), red-skinned mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had, the Reuben was soooo good (real corn beef!!), and fish and chips hit the spot (tarter sauce was flavorful). The blarney stones (mini steak sandwiches), hit the spot since we were starving - the leek sauce was unique and paired well with the steak. The server was so attentive, nice, and very fun! The ambiance was a typical Irish pub (huge). We found this place on the 4th because all other businesses were closed. read more

I want to preface and start by saying a few of us in our group used to be servers ourselves so we gave lots of grace until we literally could not anymore. It felt as if they were actively avoiding serving our table. My friend had to ask for a water 3x before getting her first one and had to ask another 4x for her refill. They would drop something off and immediately dodge away even though someone tried to get their attention or said something and it seemed like they were always avoiding eye contact. They never checked on us or would ask if anyone needed anything else literally we had to go to them. An extra item was brought that we didn't order which wasn't a big deal at the time. They brought all the food and had one thing left on the tray. My husband ordered two things, but everyone had a plate so when my friend who didn't said she didn't order anything, he took that plate back with him as we tried to flag him down that that was my husband's other plate. Why not ask if anyone ordered the item?! Is it unfathomable that people have more than one plate? Then the checks came. No one asked if we wanted it split or how to go about it. They just split it 3 ways unsure what they decided to split where for the large group of 8. They also tried to charge us for the extra plate they brought. We asked if we could have it split between couples but because things were all over on three different checks, she asked us to just write on it how to split it. Well the splits came back with tons of extra items and double some other items. To sum it up it took 4 tries before splits started getting correct and someone had to spell it out as they printed them. It felt like a lot of this could have been avoided if asked how many checks or just asking what each couple ordered from the check. We had to do all the work to make sure we didn't get charged incorrectly. It wasn't even crowded, there were only 2 other tables and we literally felt like we were being avoided. We thought about just splitting one check, but it wasn't feasible financially for some. We had no complains on the food as it was amazing, but the service was practically nonexistent. I don't recommend going here if you have a large group because they can't handle it even with two servers. read more

The only positive thing I can say about my visit to this restaurant is the atmosphere and the drinks. The service was awful. We sat at a table in the bar area and ordered the dry rub garlic parmesan wings and the steak bruschetta. It took over an hour for our food to arrive and it wasn't excessively busy. Other than take our drink and food order our waitress never checked in on us because she was more interested in doing silverware than serving us. The manager delivered our food which was cold and we had to go up to the bar and ask the bartender for the check because our waitress didn't bother to bring it to us. Sadly I will be reluctant to visit here again. However if I were to try it again I will eat in the restaurant and not the bar. read more

I was so excited to visit the Harp & Dragon! I'm from Charleston SC and my boyfriend is from Norwich CT. I've enjoyed showing him my town , and this week he is showing me his. He used to hang out here when he lived here years ago! The food was delicious and one of the owners was there. I bought a great TShirt and we were looking for a sticker as well. They were out and She actually went to the office and got one from a briefcase!! Now that's customer service! We had a couple drinks and the cheesesteak sliders and the corned beef and sauerkraut cakes and they were both so delicious!! Of course we had to have the chowdah!! I like Harp & Dragon. Let me begin with that. It's a local joint with good food. But the fish & chips... This is supposed to be an "IRSH Pub". Well, they have beer. They have large comfortable booths, a lively bar and tables with ample seating. They even have somebody with a guitar playing over in the corner occasionally. (No fiddles or accordions, sorry) But the fish & chips... Served in a basket of "fries", with the generous piece of fish piled on top, I couldn't figure out how I was going to cut said piece of fish. I eventually flagged down a server and asked for a plate. So I could eat in a civilized manner. Now, Norwich is not the culinary center of the universe, or the world, or the hemisphere or the country, state or immediate vicinity. But for christsakes, who the hell puts pepper and other spices on chips??? Heathens, that's who. Chips, with a nicely deep fried piece of Cod or Haddock, are meant to be plain, greasy, fried sticks of potato. To which the individual diner will add their own idea of what they should be covered with. From ketchup, to salt, to pepper (ugh) to the standard for fish and chips, vinegar (yes, that's what I said) you get to make them YOUR chips. Not some Pub 99 type, pedestrian, standardized corporate idea of what you want. Harp & Dragon, please, puh-leeze, bring back the humble chip. read more

The food here was amazing. My two friends and I enjoyed everything that we ordered. I got the smoked pasta, which was amazing and I had some Trulys. I can't remember what the others got, but they loved it. This place has such a nice set up with live music and a beautiful rooftop bar as well. I would return. Amber was very hospitable. Stopped in for lunch. No trouble finding parking on the street outside. Pub was sparsely populated. Bartender/Waiter greeted us warmly and we took a table. Service was prompt and the waiter answered all of our questions about the menu with a welcoming attitude. We started with the Irish potato cakes and I order coffee. The appetizer was out prompt accompanied by a freshly brewed dark Irish roast coffee. Both were superb. The coffee strong but not bitter and the Irish potato cake was a wonderfully delicious. For the main course my wife chose the shepherds pie and I the Cobb Salad. Again we were both extremely pleased with the taste and portion size. The interior was dark, but this was not unexpected. The interior architecture/design is a continuation of the exterior facade. Although dark we both found it welcoming with a feel of an old Irish pub. No real surprise there 4 instead of 5 stars: 1. No other clientele so unable to gage the level of service for a lunch/dinner rush 2. No nearby parking if street parking is full. Not really the fault of the establishment, but would affect if I returned for another meal. Having a leg disability the requires the use of a cane would rule out my ability to walk several blocks to park. The city should consider opening the "permit only parking" to the public after 5pm and on the weekends My wife and I will return in the future, the quality of the meal and it's reasonable price make it worth the trip down from Storrs. read more

The service on the patio was very good. The food was good except that the chef included all the stalks with the asparagus spears. Never experienced this before in a restaurant. They are tough and inedible. Make sure you request NO stalks if your dinner has asparagus or you will be disappointed. read more

Stopped in for food and drink a couple times. First thing we noticed when we walked in was a strong musty smell the second you walked in. It was really bad and almost caused us to walk out but we gave it a try. Bartenders each time were great. Good collection of local CT brews on tap. The food was alright. I had the chicken tenders and my wife had the Reuben. Reuben was good. But my chicken was very dry.
