Neither of the two guys I called Dad were my biological parent. They filled the void but were taken too early. Al, who was around til I was about 8 was a big Polog from Southie with a heart of gold. He'ld take us to Carson beach to hang with my uncles and was famous for the line " if you gotta go? You gotta go. " He would encourage us to pee anywhere. Jim was around til I was about 15. He was a war hero and old school gentleman that was reserved with a dry wit. He was famous for saying " thank you for saying thank you." I stole a little off of each. I watched an awful lot of tv as a kid and often fantasized that some of the tv dad's were mine. I learned a lot from watching them. Sherrif Andy Taylor taught me to be humble and caring. Big Ben Cartwright taught me to be tough and a hard worker. Ward Cleaver taught me to be considerate and thoughtful. James Evans taught me to be honest and to respect myself as well as others. Yesterday I suprised my daughter by going to her job so she could wait on me on father's day. She works at the 99 in Hingham. She brought me some crackers and cheese that were so good that I had her wrap some up to go. I got the prime rib medium rare with a baked potato and Cole slaw. There was au jus, butter and horseradish sour cream on the side. The horseradish sour cream was awesome. For dessert I had the key lime pie. She suprised me by taking care of the tab. It was one of the better meals that I've ever had despite my still being able to see the whip marks on the prime rib where the jockey was hitting it. It was better because I spent time with her. Frequent visitor. Stopped in today with 87 year old Mom...everyone was so welcoming. Particular kudos to Tim our waiter. Overall I really like this 99. It has been redone and it really came out nice. The food is good and the drinks are always tasty. I enjoy the 9.99 dishes at the 99. My favorite is the louisana shrimp for 9.99. The customers are nice but you will run into one drunk bozo once and a while. This place blows away himgham beer works. We are never disappointed at the 99. The food is always good, always hot. The menu is extensive with something for every taste. The desserts are delicious!! They always have my favorite wine, and the bartenders are funny and engaging. Prices are perfect, a little surprising for the quality of food. They could charge more. read more

The service here is slow as all hell but the food is consistently good and my daughter loves it. My dad and I always order the lunch sized fish and chips and that's my favorite - light batter, tasty cole slaw and fries. Reasonable prices, convenient location. Newly renovated. Decent food and great service. STILL NO RELISH FOR HOTDOGS! A corporate decision for years. The old version of the restaurant had relish bought by the staff and kept behind the bar. The waitress offered to go next door to Stop and Shop and buy some, but we had BROUGHT OUR OWN and donated it to the restaurant afterwards. Went here on a busy Friday night expecting to wait forever, was sat immediately. Drinks took maybe 2 minutes to come to the table and the appetizer took less than ten. Soon after we finished the appetizer the main courses were right there, food was all great. Our waitress was also very polite and always there. I was a loyal customer for over 16 years & always enjoyed my visit there. I went there for the first time last week since they remodeled the place. What were they thinking when they installed those ridiculous high booths,which I found to be very uncomfortable & potentialy dangerous for some. By the time got off my seat It felt like I just got off a horse. The huge new bar makes it very noisy & difficult to have any kind of relaxed conversation with anyone. Hingham always go above and beyond with my expectations for the 99. My only issue is they took the turkey burger off the menu, which was what I ordered every single time I was in there. I know this restaurant has 0 control over this, but I have yet to find something that I've liked as much as that entree. I would go at least twice a week. Great service at this location. It was very busy and took a little bit longer to get our food than usual. I didn't complain about it or say anything, but when the waitress brought our food she immediately apologized for the wait. At the end of the meal they completely comped our meal and we didn't pay a penny (except for a very nice tip for the waitress). I was so surprised but very thankful. The 99 is the only truly reliable chain in the area. I have never had a bad meal here, and the service is usually good at this location. If you don't have kids, definitely eat at the bar, as it can get a bit noisy in the dining room(s), thanks to the wee ones. read more

Went here last night. When we went in we were told there would be a 10 - 15 minute wait. While I was waiting I went to the ladies room, as I walked through the dining room I counted 8 empty tables. When I came out two minutes later, they seated us in the other dining room which had at least 6 empty tables, while we didn't really wait why did they say 10 - 15 minutes. We waited another 5 minutes for our server by this time we ordered our drinks and our food. We were never offered the standard popcorn, we had to ask for it. Both of us order salads....when they brought our entrees out we still had not gotten them. When I asked the waitress, who was not our original one where our salads where and why we hadn't gotten them yet, she said "Oh did you want them first?" The best Gold Feaver Chicken Tenders out of the entire 99 chain. The appetizers are the best thing on the menu, I eat them for my main course happaly. The take out is quick and easy, it has plenty of parking, and if for some reason they run out of parking, there is a full stop and shop parking lot behind them. Jeez... what can I say? My friends and I went into the Lincoln Street 99 in Hingham Ma on a Thursday afternoon. The service was just god awful My waitress sees a group of 18-21 year olds walk in and immediately disregarded our table, as if we weren't going to leave any gratuity because were younger. No smile, no greeting, all she did was take our drink and food orders. In fact she never stopped at our table once by herself to check on us, she was actually so bad we were finishing our drinks quicker to see if she would refill them... NOPE!! Later when the food came out she forgot my friends silver ware and wasn't apologetic, then never gave us any napkins (for buffalo wings ). To cap off the worst dining experience I've ever had, not one plate or glass was cleared the entire meal, not apps, not salad, no drinks, it was just terrible and should really be fixed. Not angry just confused at how an establishment can have such poor service. I'll stick to the Rockland location from now on, thx! read more

Food is always great, but I'm not sure where the attitude from the bartenders comes from. Went in with a few friends for drinks and apps, we sat at the bar. I got a 23oz draft beer that I waited almost ten minutes for and ordered some boneless buffalo wings. I finished the beer just as my food and came and I asked for another one. I got this one right away. Ate my food, drank my beer, and even had some of my friends bbq chicken flatbread which was very good. I finished my second beer and the bar tender asked me if I'd like another and I said yes. This time, I waited a few minutes and she came back with a 16oz beer. I didnt say anything, just drank my beer and was deciding how much I should tip her considering that yes it was the beer I ordered but the smaller size. I let go. When we were ready to go the bartender split our checks and when she handed me mine she said "dont say I never gave you anything". So I thought that the 16oz beer was on the house. When I looked at the bill the woman charged me for everything I had ordered. So this is when I got angry. I was not drunk, nor was I acting as if I was. She clearly gave me a smaller beer because she thought I was, and then acted as if she did me a favor. I love the 99 but I will never go back to this one because of it. I hope she enjoyed her 75 cent tip. read more

Surprised to see some of the bad reviews on here, I live nearby and this place is one of the few trusted favorites. From someone who frequents here alot because of how close I live, I've never had to wait over 20 minutes or so for food or 2 minutes for a drink. AWFUL!! Never again will I waste my families time here. We sat down and it took 35 minutes to get are drinks. My wife ordered a glass of wine and the glass still had lipstick on it, okay this can happen right? But then the "waitress" needed to throughly inspect the glass. Really! Just bring a new glass. Another family came in and sat three booths away from us, they received their drinks and appetizer before our "waitress" came back with the new glass of wine. We hit the hour mark by the time our dinner came out. Oh and the order was wrong! But it was nice to see that other family leave before us, I mean we were only there a half hour before them, when the new food came out it was brought by the manager. Apparently our "waitress" must have been to tired to do it herself. When the manager asked how are night was going, I stated don't ask what you don't want to hear, she was kind and removed one item from the bill. This is a good restaurant. Restaurant can be fast paced and on weekends there are many parties coming and going. The wait can be extensive at times however you can call ahead to get your name on a list. We ordered steak tips which were cooked as ordered and tasted good. Menu is very affordable. This restaurant serves their draft beer in frosted mugs up to 22 oz in size and the beer is very cold so that is a great combination. Waitstaff consists of mostly very young women who for the most part aim to please however due to the business at times there may be times when orders could become confused. We have never had a problem at this restaurant. Dining area is a good place for conversations as it does not play loud music and it has been generally quiet the times we were visiting. At times there may be children however one must consider that children are a part of life and people should consider that in a family restaurant they may be present. We had a rehearsal dinner for my son and his fiancee here today, 8/9/15. This 99, unlike most, has a function room off to one side, which accomodated our party of 27 perfectly, I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It has been a favorite of ours for several years-good food, great service,, cozy atmosphere-and they were so accomodating for the dinner. Terry, the facility manager, sat with us and walked us through the process of which food items to order, and how much of each, and showed us how the room would be organized. She quoted us a price which was at the bottom end of what my expectations were for the cost, and honestly, it was a bargain, given the food and drink items which were included. The waitress, Sam, who attended to us couldn't have been nicer! I would recommend this 99 without reservation just for lunch or dinner, and for anyone looking for a venue for a special function, they can't be beat! Kudos to Terry and her wonderful staff here! read more
