Our group stopped here on way home from an event. While our waitress was good, especially as our group of 9 included 5 younger kids, the food was not so good. Anyone that got something from the grill (burgers) had a longer wait then rest of the food. Waitress said the grill was backed up. Once my food came I realized why girl less backed up, brocade apparently they were cooking everything super well done. My ordered medium rare was dry, heavily charred, and generally horrible tasting. Went out to 99 for lunch and decided on the Bacon Tomato Macaroni and Cheese. Excellent in it's simplicity. (Why didn't I think of that?) I also ordered the petite Peanut Butter Mousse. I really love the concept of mini desserts. That hit the spot. Great and prompt service though I often wonder why restaurants don't stagger the seating throughout the restaurant during non-rush times. Is there a science I am missing? So my most outrageous complaint about the chain is that they once had a Banana's Foster Pie on their menu that is now long gone. Why? Oh my. That dessert was the bomb! Bring it back! read more

Newly redesigned interior was a mistake. Who's idea was it to tear down walls, expand the bar and replace booths with stools and smaller tables? It's more bar than restaurant now. Guess they're trying for the younger generation. Did all of their old grey hairs finally die off? Food quality was average at best. The cheesecake dessert tasted like someone shat in the mixing bowl. Giving it two stars out of nostalgia as it's nothing more than a shell of what it once was. Came here 2 times this month and both days were great. Servers were very attentive and polite. Food was cooked perfectly and tasted great.

Ok so I'm from out of town so I don't if the local people are used to such mediocrity, but it's insulting to me. This place needs to get it together. The s-l-o-w-e-s-t service EVER! No wonder the wait is so long to get a table. Orders take so long reach the table. The food is Applebee's. Same sheep different clothing. We have gone here a couple times in the past few months and each time has been excellent. Our waitress tonight was Jen and she was more than pleasant and very nice. Our food was delicious and perfectly cooked - fish and chips and glazed salmon. We will definitely be back. They also have a new vegetarian section in the menu and the options are great, there's not many options for vegetarians in the area or at chain restaurants in general. 99 opened in Woburn, Mass in 1952. Since then they've opened about 114 locations so far, all of which are in the Northeast (most are in Mass). It's a more local and more friendly/fresh version of Applebees. In fact Applebee's got their decorating ideas from 99 and ran with it. It's just simple American food done at cheap prices, nothing fancy but nothing trashy either, just a good hometown type restaurant/pub. read more

Came here for a late lunch with my mom. The employees are all so friendly and food was good. An older man didn't feel well and almost fell at the bar- the manager Dave stayed with the man the entire time- by his side making sure he was ok. Very compassionate and comforting to the man. This was a great little find on our way thru town. Service was fast and friendly and the food was great. You get a bowl of complimentary popcorn to munch on while you wait. French Onion soup and Sirloin Steaks were delicious. I liked the mashed potatoes but the white cheddar sauce and caramelized onions were a little too much of a good thing. How do you screw up Potato Skins and Nachos? I have no idea, but the cooks at 99 in Auburn sure do. We don't go there often and won't be going back. The potato skins were dry as dirt and had zero flavor. The Nachos had, and I am being generous, 1 tsp of "Guacamole", 1 tsp of Sour Cream, zero Salsa or Pico De Gallo and had some fake cheese on them. I asked for some Pico or Salsa and they charged me for it. Service was weird, the waitress actually took a plate out of my hand and set it on the table where she wanted it. Then she moved our beer glasses, so they would be on the paper coasters. She actually came back twice and told us to keep them on the coasters. read more

Its a convenient location when we're out & about however the food is nothing special & the way the waitstaff is so abrasive toward each other is uncomfortable. They are rude to each other when crossing paths or coming behind another.. Not something you want your customers to experience.. The restaurant has changed their seating and it is much nicer. But the food is simply not healthy - too much salt and sugar - although it tastes really good. My special marguerita was watery and very bland - guess you get what you pay for. I had fish tacos thinking they would be more healthy but no, they were covered with sauce. I will not go back there. The music was dominating and very loud and not at all pleasant - unless you are a teenager. I looked around and most people were over 50; I can't believe they like this music - if you want to call it that. read more

Enjoyed a nice Grey Goose martini and the crispy chicken honey mustard salad at the Pub 99 bar this past weekend. Steve was a wonderful server/bar tender. Very pleasant and attentive. Definitely made the entire visit worthwhile and would be the reason we go back except we overheads him saying he's moving to South Carolina - good luck, Steve!!!! Food was average to good. Went on a Friday night at 6pm and the restaurant was packed. I was able to get a seat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and able to get a menu quick. The hamburger I ordered was meant to be medium but came well done. Bartender offered to change it out but I settled to keep it since I knew it would take awhile. I have to say the bartenders were all attentive and observe them politely slow someones drinking down which was great to see. Overall good experience except for the overdone burger. read more

I've been in here a lot, but most recently went in one night late after work and have a great dinner! The waitress was very social and nice, she checked back in quite a few times, even as they were closing up. I had a steak that was prepared perfectly, my asparagus was very good, and thoroughly cooked! (some restaurants don't take the time to cook asparagus properly, BONUS POINTS!) and the mashed potatoes were great! I was very impressed, and would definitely go back there again!! read more

I don't like leaving a review like this but after the last two visits I felt it was warranted. For the last few Saturday visits we have gone there in the early afternoon and was handed a buzzer and told it would be a 20-30 minute wait. Each time a quick look around you could see a dozen or so empty booths. Either employees called off or management did not schedule enough staff. They really need to address this. read more

Phew... Where do i start? Walked in, first thing i smelt was pee. Everywhere. I turned to my family & boyfriend and immediately said "It smells like piss." Mind you, we weren't near the bathroom, we were in the front of the restaurant. I wanted to gag. We go get seated, and the chairs were disgustingly greasy to a point where i was sliding. I looked up at the Brady jersey & all i see is grease & prints but that's normal, i guess. The plus side was the waitress we had, was super nice. The tables were gross though, i was not touching anything after that. The food was below average, the burgers were super sickening & not good at all, and i'm not a picky eater. I never leave reviews. Since I needed to head to Auburn, MA with my mom take care of some business, I decided to research beforehand what restaurants were in the area, as I was hoping to grab a bite to eat while we were in the area as my mom took care of her business. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants in Auburn did not seem great, as they did not get the best reviews on Yelp. Thankfully, 99 Restaurant & Pub popped up, which was great as I had heard great things about them from friends who have patronized them as well as rating well in Consumer Reports's ratings of table-service chain restaurants well ahead of similar restaurants, like Applebee's and TGI Fridays. With that in mind, I decided to stop here for lunch, as I liked the menu and it was convenient to where my mom was. After I parked, I entered the restaurant, which was clean and inviting, with many seats, a large bar in the center of the restaurant, many large-screen TVs showing sporting events and the news, and tsotchkes and knick-knacks along the wall. I was then greeted by Trish, a bubbly and welcoming hostess, who happily escorted me to a very nice high-top table near the bar. Since it was a bit busy, I had to wait a little for my waitress, but I was greeted by Lois, a very sweet older waitress who reassured me that my waitress Helen would be right with me. Thankfully, Lois was right and I was greeted by Helen, who was very friendly and jovial. Since I knew what I wanted as I looked at the menu before I went, I ordered the Balsamic Grilled Chicken off of the 9 Real Size Entrees for $9.99 menu along with a Strawberry Lemonade to drink. Helen also asked if I wanted popcorn, which is standard at this chain, but I declined. With my order placed, I relaxed in the cozy and inviting atmosphere. Helen arrived with my Strawberry Lemonade, which was sweet, fruity, and tart. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay long as planned as my mom was done with her business and needed to be pick up. Thankfully, Helen was very understanding and made sure my food would be packed to go. After she delivered my food about fifteen minutes after I ordered, I thanked her for a wonderful time and was on my way. After I met my mom, I had the chance to enjoy my lunch and found it to be very good! The portion was large, with two nicely sized moist, tender, and juicy grilled chicken breast complemented by a tangy, sweet, and slightly fruity balsamic glaze. In addition, I also enjoyed the well-cooked broccoli and fluffy and slightly salty rice pilaf that accompanied it. While I will not get to eat at 99 Restaurant again anytime soon as I do not have any in my area and will not be traveling to New England again anytime soon, I would definitely dine at 99 Restaurant again as the food was very good, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the value for the money was excellent, making this a far better option than a comparable restaurant like Applebee's and TGI Fridays! read more

Whole chain is pretty mediocre. Good menu with a lot of selection, food is usually average at best. Loaded mashed potatoes were served so cold the cheese on top never melted and chicken tasted like rubber. Staff was OK, but nothing spectacular. We love this place. Their toasted lobster rolls are great. We have also had their fresh haddock - grilled!! Delicious. Also had the broiled lobster and stuffed shrimp. We love their mashed potatoes. Bar is fine. Our servers have been great!! We ate there three times during our trip. It was convenient to our hotel. We look forward to eating there every time we come in May. We wish they would bring back the mashed cauliflower. read more
