Classic Dive bar…read more This bar is the definition of the dive... but not the kind that when you leave you check yourself into the clinic. Ohh no, if you are going to have a drinking night in Worcester, this is going to be the place you start out at or where you find yourself at the end of the night! Its always dark, has oNE pool table and 2 arcade games. If its not jam packed they always have a game of beer pong going in the back corner. I always end up standing because the stools are only so comfortable for so long.. SO many good memories here and not one of them includes paying a cover, even on an event night. I had my 2nd legal drink at this place "(lets not talk about the first) and Have even puked in a cup and gave it back to the bar tender ( who was super sweet and understanding) The owner of this place is always trying to get rid of Celtics tickets for like almost nothing. In the past few years they have made some updates, like a few more LCDs and having more contests where you will cools stuff. They always have 2 dollar shots ( select kinds) and the staff has always been good to me. Never give you a hard time about your ID, fairly fast service and they KNOW how to make a drink better than a bunch of places you could be paying more!! Place is definitely the 2nd student union for most of the area colleges. Yes, you will see lots of bros and floozies from the surrounding schools, but this place still consistently attracts the locals ( like yours truly) It looks like your gran dad's "nobody in here has bathed since last month" type of bar on the outside but its one of the many hidden gems of us young pioneers of Worcester.

Beyond that, there's pool and some very distinct atmosphere. You're here for the standard taps at rock bottom prices, ya heard? Don't come calling for craft or cocktails (well, maybe a rum & Coke). Have dollar bills ready, maybe deal some cards if you keep it on the level, rack 'em in the billiard area next room over, and peep the ship room itself in the back. (It was empty and dark when I visited, but I walked around anyway - felt like I wasn't alone, so bonus points for that creepy Amityville Horror feel.) I don't claim to know legit, hardcore Worcester, but this seemed like a small slice of it at the base of Green Street. See pics for ambience and decide accordingly if this is your cup of 'Gansett. (If you can imagine the 2010 edges of Washington DC's H Street district, you're in the ballpark.). *FYI: Four police cruisers passed by me semi-urgently at my Lamartine@Harding parking spot even as I drafted this review. But the bar? I got a kick out of it.

Cold! Confusing! Charming! Clandestine!…read more We drove up to Rascals for the Hell's Belles Classic Rock Burlesque Show. Trying to find the venue felt like a fever dream - the inside of the building leading up to Rascals was just a maze of basement backrooms with barely ANY signage. It was very bizarre. When we finally found the actual entrance to Rascals we felt so accomplished. The cover was cash only, but they had an ATM right there. The space is BIG. I can see why it's such a popular venue for line dancing. So much room for activities! We got a drink & some change to tip the performers from the very sweet bartender & found a high top table near the back of the audience space so that we could have a good line of sight to the stage. It didn't take long for us to become chilly. It felt like it was 62 ish degrees inside, & since it's a basement venue with no windows, this felt really cold. Bring layers! Despite the crowd being a bit more subdued than what we're used to, the show still knocked our socks off. The acoustics were well balanced, the space allowed the performers to be creative, & you could see the stage from almost anywhere in the venue. I would definitely come back to Rascals for a special occasion, or maybe even to try their beginner line dancing classes, but I'd remember to dress warmly.

You gotta try the Keg tots and they make one hell of a spinach artichoke dip. Its very open and they have live music often; it does get quite loud in there after 8pm so if thats a problem maybe consider another place at that time. The only thing I could complain about is the frequency that people (mainly children) are barefoot in the restaurant. They do have a volleyball court in the back so it is understandable, however its not the best thing to see while enjoying a meal. Other than that, I hope the place continues to to great business and stays there for a long time! Thanks!

I heard the food was really good. The bartender Desiree was an absolute delight to to talk to and made sure she was pleasant and polite to all her customers. My only complaint was the bartender Amanda who was bartending inside, she was not friendly at all, she had a puss on her face the whole time the group of us were there. Amanda made sure that she waited on any and all of the regulars, but when it came to any of the new comers she made you wait till the very last second, when she couldn't ignore you anymore. I even had a guy next to me say to me what is her problem, she has looked at you 3 different times with the $20 in my hand and still will not wait on you, even made 2 trips to the dishwasher in between taking her time to wait on me. I never shok my money or anything to annoy her, so I don't understand. I was not the only one who had complaints about her, I heard numerous people complaining. If a person is having bad day and don't want to wait on the public then suck it up and smile or stay home.

Great Spot in the middle of nowhere…read more A local watering hole in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. It definitely used to be someone's house. The parking lot has more craters than WW1 France. Inside has a bar and a bunch of TVs for watching sports. Out back has a large open yard filled with picnic tables and pits for playing horseshoes along with a stage area for bands to play. Food was surprisingly very good. After 2 entrees and 4 beers our bill was under $50! Tip: Grab a burger, hand crafted, delicious. Throw some 80's on the jukebox. Thanks
