I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. Every time I drive by the parking lot is packed! I will say, it was good but not the best! Which made me a little sad. The prices are absolutely reasonable, the place is cute inside, the food is good, but not something I would go back for. The service is kind of where they lost me. I will say if it wasn't for the service then I would probably go back cause like I said the food was not bad. It took about 20 minutes after the hostess sat us for the waitress to come over and she didn't even know she had a table. Overall, disappointing. Walking in you are slammed with the smell of the cleaning products, overwhelmingly so. It smelled like fabulouso and was so strong (good to know they clean but I don't want to be eating the taste of cleaners while I am trying to enjoy a meal.) The service was terrible and our waitress kept joking how she has a problem with getting distracted and talking to much in the back. My fish and chips looked great when it came out but it was very greasy and had a weird sour taste to it after I got a few bites in. The burgers that everyone else got were tough and not a fresh hand packed burger like the waitress said they were. My mother's burger was cooked well when she had requested medium rare and the waitress's response was well I didn't cook it. In a space of Auburn dominated by chain and fast food restaurants Bentleys might be an afterthought but it shouldn't be. With that being said we normally venture into Worcester for family dinners but changed things up and had a wonderful experience together, the other night, at Bentleys. We were promptly seated, it was winding down at that time (approx 7:30) and we were greeted by our waitress who immediately took drink orders and asked if we wanted to get our kids meals in. We ordered the kids twin hot dogs, kids Mac and cheese with fries, fish and chips and the stuffed baked sole. All of the food was delicious. The kids hotdogs were huge, the Mac and cheese was hot, creamy and cheesy. My husbands fish and chips were delicious, the crust was take on beer batter but was light and the ratio of fish to batter was perfect. My stuffed baked sole was so good. Filling but light and the sauce and stuffing were very flavorful. The fries were also great, seasoned nicely. The drinks were stiff, just the way you'd like, nothing watered down. My boys got a couple rounds of Shirley temples which is always a treat, but they were most excited for a decked out ice cream cup that came with their meals. We normally spend $110+ on a family night out for dinner and our bill came in around $70. The serving sizes of everything in comparison to the cost was refreshing to see. Is the decor outdated? I guess so if you don't like wood paneling or funny Santa adorned fish sculptures lol but who cares really? I want good food and good service over a fancy joint. Have to give a shout out to Carol F, our waitress. She was the best; very attentive and complimentary towards our boys which is nice when we're trying as parents to teach them proper manners for dining out. She had recommendations for food and always had a smile on her face. May just have to ask to be in her section when we return. From what I've heard Bentleys is unfortunately going to close in the near future, date TBA, due to sale of the location. I guess what means we'll have to sneak in a few more visits when that does happen and proves to me why you should always give your local family owned spots a try before headed to the chain restaurants. read more

Came here for Monday night dinner. I was hoping to be greeted by a bowl of fresh popcorn but they didn't seem to have any tonight. The crackers and mystery dip was tasty none the less. We ordered two sodas, a bowl of clam chowder, fish & chips, and the roasted turkey dinner. The chowder was exactly what you'd expect - perfectly well made New England Clam Chowder. I give it a 4/5. If it had bacon bits and chives, I would have gave it a perfect score. Our server also gave us a generous amount of oyster crackers which was appreciated. Nobody likes running out of crackers before soup. The fries here are not your typical French try. They have that outer crispy coating seen on many small restaurants but the ones here are definitely meatier than others. They're more of a thick cut fry but still have the same crunch. 5/5 The beer battered fried haddock was better than most. I found the batter to be thin and crispy leaving a healthy ratio of fish to batter. The coleslaw was complete trash. Needs a complete recipe haul over if you ask me. Overall 3.5/5 The roasted Turkey dinner was delicious. Easy 5/5. Everything was on point here. The Turkey was juicy, stuffing had the right amount of salt and it all blended real nicely with the gravy. The mash potatoes had some room for improvement. But overall delicious. Good Old Pub I went to Bentley Pub only because it was top rated by tripadvisor. I wasn't disappointed. I seated myself at the bar and was quickly asked if I would like something to drink and if I was staying for dinner. Yes to both. Very nice little hometown pub! Nice decor fast friendly service for a very reasonable price. We had seafood chowder buffalo boneless wings and American chop suey. The boneless buffalo wings were exceptional and the chowder was as very tasty. Menu full of traditional meals like fish and chips, meatloaf dinner and steak tips ect ect. We went to Bentley pub to pre-game,get a bite to eat and meet up with other hockey parents before a game at the Auburn rink located just down the street. The Bentley pub is a great location and size for this kind of thing. There was only one bartender serving the bar so service was a little slow, not sure if that's usual. The bartender was friendly and tried to be as quick as she could serving the bar and getting the drinks out. The vibe in the pub was reserved and fairly quiet, which was surprising. The bar had the usual number and type of domestic and imported bottled beer and a small number of draft beers. The mixed drinks were ok, note that they do not serve doubles.... Not sure if that's a state, town or just their thing. Food was usual comfort food/ pub faire, and nothing to talk to zagat about, but it was good and the portions large. Bentley is a good place to return to, not so much specifically for the food, but as a meet up place prior to a hockey game at the Auburn rink because of the nearby location. Some of the negative reviews kept us away for the three years we have lived in this area, and I regret that. Bentley's is a good family restaurant with house made elements that go into the recipes. I was expecting the garlic green beans to be canned, but they were made with fresh beans and had a good crunch. Nothing was oversalted, undercooked, or overcooked. You will not be wowed with presentation and nothing here is complicated. But it's done correctly. The prices are very reasonable and they have specials. We had the baked haddock and it smelled and tasted fresh. People rave about the mashed potatoes, and they did look good. But, I'll tell you, they make a perfect baked potato! They also give you really good REAL butter! In case, you haven't noticed, you're kind of in a 'good restaurant' desert. Lots of franchise places to eat it. If a place is good, like Major League, they know it and charge for it. My husband and I had dinner complete with appetizer, sides, coffee, tea, and dessert for under $29 (and leftovers in a to-go box).
