I recently visited 9292 shabu again since their opening!! After one bad experience I had with them, I never returned until recently. We've been their twice in two weeks and I have to say this place changed a lot. Our server was amazing and they have varieties of toppings to vegetables. Our server make sure our meat never empty and he's super funny as well. After the first fun experience we decided to go back the following week to my surprise was the same server. He didn't recognize us but we did!! He was as fun as always and running when we press the bell. For the price, no one should be complaining about the place. This place is PERFECT for a vegetarian-leaning person! I was thrilled to try this place and it didn't disappoint! For $13.99, I was stuffed to the brim. First, there's OTHER FOOD besides just hotpot toppings. Even if you come and just eat the pasta, it's like endless pasta, fried rice, etc. On top of that, endless hotpot toppings and sauce bar! It's primarily veggies, but it also includes some proteins like pork dumplings, fishcakes, hotdogs, tofu, imitation crab, etc. There's tons of photo so you get the idea already. But it's definitely one of the biggest hotpot buffets AYCE's I've been to in ATL so far, and for the price, pretty impressive!! The only things missing are mostly cultural; we hope they might expand into offerings of: 1) Chinese BBQ sauce : ) 2) proper soup LADLES instead of soup spoons, as you can get to the broth better and 3) more tofu types would be cool. I love this concept of the buffet style and proteins by the plate. No more crazy amounts of cabbage and the stuff you don't want in hot pot. I really appreciated the variety of mushrooms and noodles. The wheat noodles were actually really good and did not make my broth murky or thick. Also I'm a big fan of lotus root, and it was so happy to see that available. The Korean rice cake turned out really great in my broth, and I should have had more of that and less of the noodles really. I had never had Korean hot pot before, and I really loved the flavor of the spicy mola broth. Also the Shabu sauce was really great. I usually make my own, but I had this one instead. 9292 Shabu was a little bit different. So far, I've had Viet style hot pot, Chinese style hot pot, Taiwanese hot pot, and Korean tofu soup. Now it's Korean style hot pot and what better way to try out 9292. I've been to their sister KBBQ restaurant and I enjoy it there. It's not the best in my opinion, but it's still a good spot. Now, 9292 Shabu is just the hot pot style of that. And all I have to say, if you're a vegetarian, this place is heaven for you. Why? Because they have a full on buffet with nothing but vegetarian dishes along with processed foods. I personally thought 9292 Shabu wasn't bad, but as a meat eater it was a little bit more limited. Yes, you could order the all you can eat, but truly how much can you possibly eat? And depending on how many people you have, will you be able to really enjoy it fully? Now, I think the way to go is a la carte. Order how many dishes you want and that's how much it is. Most likely you're probably going to eat maybe 3 max 4 dishes of meat (depending on what type of meat) and you'll probably be full. I think there are other options as far as hot pot, but this style isn't bad at all. I would recommend if you like hot pot and you're down to eat all the veggies to your heart content. I came here for my birthday dinner. It was really good! I really enjoyed the vegetable AYCE.. veggies only! It was worth every penny, because it was very filling even though I didn't get meat. I didn't have to. They serve a lot more than just vegetables. They also served udon noodles, konjac which is an herb and has a gelatin like substance (which I loooove to eat.. it has a lot of fiber, too, and very good for you), glass noodles, and frozen mandu (Korean dumplings). I got beef bone broth for my soup base. There are also other soup bases.. my mom got anchovy broth and I think there's one for vegans and vegetarians as well. Dinner price without meat: $12.99 Lunch price without meat: $9.99 Our waitress wasn't very attentive. That was the only down-side and she wasn't very friendly at the beginning as well. Great selection and everything stays pretty well stocked. My biggest issues were with the price vs quality of meats/sauces. While the buffet style selection is great and includes many Korean inspired items (dumplings, kimchi, kimchi fried rice, etc) the sauce bar was lacking many traditional Chinese items that pair well with hot pot in my opinion. I'm sure being Korean owned plays a big part in the sauce or lack of traditional ingredients. Also, the quality of the meat delivered was off. While we ate mostly beef brisket, it looked and definitely tasted very low quality compared to the plethora of other hot pot/kbbq places I have been to in my life. I heard good things about this place and finally got to try it recently! It's a shabu shabu buffet from the same people as 9292 kbbq. Since it's very new, the interior is clean and modern. The space is huge with lots of tables and seatings. In the middle is the place where you can grab the food to put into the shabu shabu. I like that it's centrally located unlike many other buffets where it's in a corner somewhere. It's also shapes like a zigzag so it's not like a line of queue which is a great idea! As for the food, you choose the broth and have a choice of getting any kind of meat as a la carte. This means all the food in the middle of the restaurant is included in the base price. I decided to get pork plate just to try it out. I will say the amount of food you get in the base price is amazing. There are so many options you can pick. There are some non-vegetarian options as well such as sausages and spam. It's great that not only there's a lot, there's a lot of options in different categories of food, such as noodles, meat, veggies, etc. There's also some non shabu items as well like fried rice, garlic pasta, and ttukbokkggi. I can think of two downsides of the food. First, the broth isn't as flavorful and deep. Perhaps it's the choice of broth that I picked (dashi) but they said it's the most popular one so I hoped it would be better. Another is that the meat is not that good of a quality. It was kind of chewy and unflavorful. It was a surprise since they have the same owner as 9292 kbbq. Next time, I wouldn't bother ordering a side of meat. Another non food complaint would be the place inside is very humid from everyone boiling away their shabu. It'd be cool to have some kind of vent to suck away the moisture. I really enjoy 9292 KBBQ so I knew I had to check out it's sister hot pot restaurant. This is located all the way BEHIND the Emory Clinic if you are coming from Steve Reynolds. You might end up parking closer to Kroger when it's busy because the lot here is small. I met up a friend here for lunch during the weekday (currently only $9.99 until Feb 28, then goes up to $12.99). There was no wait at noon but it was definitely getting packed when it was closer to 1pm. Go early! Service was efficient and they did a good job keeping our water glasses filled. You do have to wave them down to get their attention when it comes to ordering other items off the menu but that's normal for Asian restaurants. The servers helped each other here so they were all friendly about helping us. Also, it's a buffet so you're expected to serve yourself. The space is also HUGE and spacious. Could easily accommodate large groups. I saw the biggest table had 6 personal burners. You start off by picking your broth. I decided on the Spicy Dashi (seaweed based soup according to our server), which ended up not being spicy at all but it did have this pleasant umami radish flavor. The buffet line had a large variety! Proteins: various fish cakes, pork dumplings, hot dogs, etc. Hot Foods: fried rice, spaghetti with meat sauce, cream pasta, japchae, rice cake in that Korean sauce Carbs: ramen, rice, vermicelli, wheat noodles, udon, etc. Veggies: watercress, cabbage, spinach, bok choy, carrots, broccoli, different types of mushrooms, cauliflower, corn, etc. Sauce bar: sesame cream sauce, soy sauce, ponzu, minced garlic, green onions, cilantro, fresh jalapeños, etc. (This is one area I thought they could have done better. Missing oyster sauce, sesame oil, fish sauce, etc) I stuck to the buffet but it appeared the a la carte protein items were fairly priced and you received a good portion. The buffet area did get dirty due to the amount of customers but there was always someone wiping things down. They also replenished items fairly quickly. For meat eaters, you can either get meat a la carte or all you can eat. I personally really like 9292 Korean BBQ, one of my favorite KBBQ places in Atlanta actually, so even though the reviews for this new place didn't look that stellar (3.5 stars overall at the time of writing this review), I decided to give it a chance. My girlfriend and I went to the place at 3:00 pm on a Saturday. The place seemed very spacious, and as only had like perhaps 25-30% of the tables occupied, we did not have to wait at all to be seated. We immediately chose the AYCE Option B (compared to Option A, it includes some more choices of meat, such as rib-eye and shrimp), and requested rib-eye and brisket for two of us. We expected the meat to be ready by the time we got back from the self-service vegetable/sauce bar, but all we were given were broth and cold water. I thought "okay that's fine, it's AYCE, so I guess they try to space out the serving" and went to get some hot food section of the self-service. This hot food is only served until 2:30 PM at lunch and from 6:00 PM at dinner. So we were literally SOL, and there were people scraping what were remaining of the hot food. It's insane that the place charges the exact same amount between 2:30 PM and 6:00 PM when the business is relatively slow and the food options are severely limited. Has the owner ever heard of happy hours? Anyways, we patiently waited for our meat, hoping that the meat will redeem all the initial red flags. ... 30 minutes have passed... And I guess our main male server knows a table of two females right in front of us, because he kept going to talk with them every 5 minutes even when they didn't press the assistance bell and were busy eating, asking "why aren't you eating? should i bring some meat?" in Korean (and he said variations of this multiple times). I honestly wished I could not understand the language. This server literally have ignored our table for 30 minutes after bringing broth and water, ignored our multiple assistance bell presses, and has the audacity to try to hit on girls right in front? We have already pressed the assistance bell at least 5 times at this point. The server eventually comes (35 minutes after we first got seated), and when I stated (as nicely as I can at this point) that we are still waiting for meat, he said he's going to go and check the status. He comes back a minute later, and says "sorry, I forgot to put in the order for your table. what meat did you want again?". My girlfriend had to calm me down, as I was about to loss my all shit and call the manager over, so decided to just leave a review here. He must have known he screwed up, because another server started helping our table soon after this point. And he completely side stepped away from us in an alley of the restaurant after we were done eating and paid our bills. Very mature move. The attached photo is literally what our table and my personal hot pot looked like by the time server came with the whole "forgot to do my job because I was so busy hitting on girls in front of you" shenanigan. Half the broth has boiled away even at minimum boiling power. This server seriously needs to learn priorities in life. If you are at work, work, don't hit on girls (that you know from outside of work) with the dumbest pick up lines while completely ignoring your responsibilities. All in all, honestly, the meat that they did manage to bring out were really good, especially brisket (kind of fatty though, up to 70% fat) and rib-eye, but the service weighs down so much that both of us have no intention of ever going back unless if I see a public announcement that the waiter has been fired, because no restaurant in their right mind should bother hiring incompetent individual who clearly lacks any ability to prioritize social and professional responsibilities. read more

We went to 9292 around 6pm on a weekday and there was ample seating. Our server quickly took down what broth and meat we wanted and we were able to get started. They have ayce veggies, fishcakes, and noodles included in the base price and charge extra for meat. They have their ayce items spread out buffet style and we were able to pick and choose what we wanted in our hotpot as much we wanted. As much as I love the concept and selection of this place I have to take away one star. While some servers were going above and beyond cleaning tables, taking plates, and bringing refills I saw that most of the servers were standing around and talking with each other. They were actually huddled up in a way that they were being an inconvenience to people trying to access the veggies and other foods on the buffet table. Shabu-shabu is Japanese. Chinese hot pot is flavorful and different. I'm totally ok with eating fishballs and mushrooms until I get full. I felt better than eating AYCE KBBQ. I wasn't as sweaty and tired after 9292 Shabu. My wife is a fan of the fish cake. I was a fan of the dumplings and mushrooms. They have a small selection of hot foods and they were all ok. Nothing stood out. I came here for a birthday and it was worth the experience but the quality of everything was just ok. I didn't feel sick afterward and I was stuffed. I feel like the people that got sick here didn't use good technique to prevent cross-contamination or just didn't cook their food properly. Where are the best places to dine in the winter? Shabu shabu or a great bowl of Pho! I was excited to Yelp this place and found it extremely tasty. The whole restaurant was quiet, super clean, and everyone had their mask and gloves on. When you are preparing for your food, gloves are available and please make sure you put your mask on, so that when you sneeze, you're not spraying your snot all over the food. As a paying customer too, who is also trying to enjoy the same food as you, I beg of you. The ladies are super helpful at this restuarant. I had a server with a beautiful smile. She would check on me occasionally to see if I needed anything and pretty much just let me enjoy my food the rest of the time. I like that there was also a hot food section, including soup, porridge, fried rice, white rice, japchae, and several types of pasta. The hot food section was slow to be replaced though, and several of the items were almost empty throughout our dinner. There are several hotpot broths to choose from. I chose dashi, which was ok - I think it could have been more flavorful. There is a sauce bar where you can pick and choose ingredients for your sauce. This was my first time trying 9292 shabu! The service was decent! We asked him what and how it is there because we have never been there. So, normally they would have the buffet open, but it's currently closed. He said it will be open sometime next week. Also, they do have extra condiments, you just have to ask them to make it for you. Not sure if there's a sauce bar. They have their own dipping sauce from regular, med, or spicy I believe. It is SOOOO good! If they had this at kbbq, it'd be fire. I had the Original Shabu $9.99 which was mostly vegetables, fish cakes, tofu, dumplings, etc. The serving size was huge. It was not a problem asking for more food if there was something you want. I asked for more tofu and dumplings. The sauces are now made by them. So you can't make it yourself. The soup choices are now only 2: original or spicy.
