It was def my fav out of the 4 cocktails we ordered, but all the drinks were honestly rlly good. Besides the drinks i rlly love the ambience as well; i rlly loved that they play c r&b and cpop!!! 929 Lounge has such a sexy vibe and is absolutely perfect for a date night. Maybe not a first date since it's definitely on the cramped side... unless you're already sure there's going to be a second one. The cocktail menu being printed on CDs is such a fun, nostalgic touch, and every drink we tried was genuinely good. I'm already planning my next visit just to work my way through more of the menu. Cool atmosphere, great drinks, and a spot you'll want to linger in. Can't wait to go back.

Good lounge bar. A bit too warm and it was filled with people. Really appreciated the canto pop music. Found dj ing with cd really cool! Def don't see this often. Drinks are more creative than that of downstairs in travelers. Really appreciated the ambience and music

Located on the 2nd floor of Hue House, a multicultural Asian American building, this is a nice sit down bar that features Canto and Mando pop culture influences. I love the tea infused cocktails and their craft is high up there. We made reservations a few days in advance which is mandatory in the weekends. Even if you want to only try the tea vending machine, you may not have luck just trying it since they mandated reservations or waitlist to get tokens, since a lot of people are waiting for tables for the 929 bar and there's extremely limited space on the first floor My friends and I were able to get seated 30 min before our reservation, noting we would only have 90 min which is basically the same rule enforced for a reservation at the original time. We tried the following drinks - Shanghai Summer Fling - their most popular drink. I really liked this one - fruity, tea, with a bit of tropical and foam - Heirloom + Folklore - clarified cocktail, smooth - Eyes, Smoke, Magic - an acquired taste - you either love it or hate it. I enjoyed it - smoky tea flavor profile that can be a bit medicinal in smell, and spirit forward - Years and Years - fruity and slightly herbal, has a nice fruit roll up like garnish to enjoy Drinks were delivered fairly quickly and we were able to easily catch up with one another as the place was not too loud while we are able to sit in close proximity without being too tight of a space. Water refills were abundant which I appreciate. While cocktail prices are above average ($21-28 each before tax and tip), you'll be rest assured you will be well taken care of!

Delicious drinks, a stunning interior, and incredible service. Just a tad bit expensive for drinks, but I understand what the 929 team is doing, and they're absolutely killing it. Their new location is tucked upstairs in Midtown East right bt Grand Centeal; moody, great jams, Taiwanese inspired everywhere you look. Bites and drinks were phenomenal, but as i mentioned just a little pricy. Excited to come back and try the rest of their menu.

Definitely need a reservation for this place. They're all very inventive drinks that use Chinese ingredients. Highly recommend!

We loved the variety in cocktails and the ambiance of this place. My girl friend and I felt so cozy and enjoyed the music and dedication to the theme as well. Food was also amazing - I'd love to come back and try everything else on the menu!

Great ambiance, super fun vibes, great music, and creative drinks! The cocktail that I ordered, shanghai summer fling, was very tasty. It's a good lounge/cocktail bar to sip drinks with friends. The drinks and food is a bit pricey, and I would definitely stick with drinks because food was just okay and not worth the price. Of note, there's also a 90 minute seating limit, which was not an issue for us but may be for others.

Great speakeasy ! Will come back again. Come try this place out. Really cool music and vibe

Service: 4.7/5 Drinks: 4/5 Price: $$ ($20-30) For those unfamiliar, 929 is a Canto/Mando-pop themed bar just re-opened in Midtown, so they'll be playing nostalgic tunes all night. Sometimes there's a live DJ you can make requests to. Decoration-wise, it's very similar to their old location, just more elevated. Mostly booth seating (on plush red couches) suitable for smaller groups, or bar seating for solo/paired drinkers. The bathroom is kept very clean + smells good, albeit snug. A little bit like your walk back there passing the bar. The staff is very attentive (maybe a little too much), checking in multiple times to refill waters + take additional orders. I think they have a time limit, though not sure how long. I imagine it's around the 1.5-2 hour mark. What I Ordered (in order of preference): - Shanghai Summer Fling: tastes like my chinese gma's pickled fruit candy - Spring of Life: truffle-y + creamy, can't tell if I like, only shaken drink on the menu - Very Tipsy Poet: fragrant barley foam, kinda strong drink, grew on me - Years + Years: strong-ish - Memoir in a Tea House: strong, kinda 1 note - (off menu) Gin Fizz: very tart

What a fun bar! Love the immersive theme, attention to detail throughout the space, and of course, the delicious cocktails. 929 is nestled in the backroom of a Taiwanese bento box / street food restaurant. As soon as you enter, you're transported into a lively but intimate space! I downed my drink in probably under 10 minutes, which was a first for me because I'm usually a sip-and-savor drinker, but the HKD was so addicting it was quickly gone...

Pineapple Shrimp Youtiao

The decor was very thoughtful and aesthetic. I loved the red seats and Mando-pop and Canto-pop theme. The menu was unique, it was a CD case with each drink on a CD, and I liked that the drinks were in order from least to most strong for your picking. I got the Shanghai Summer Fling and my partner got a Very Tipsy Poet. Both drinks were tasty with a fresh tea flavor. I also loved the foam on top of our drinks, I especially enjoyed the salted soy milk foam on the top of my Shanghai Summer Fling. We got Pineapple Shrimp Youtiao and were surprised by the presentation. It had the sprinkles and white sauce, we didn't realize it would look like a dessert! But it was tasty, it kind of reminded me of honey walnut shrimp and the sprinkles surprisingly went well with it. Would definitely come back to try more of their food items and drinks!

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

Would definitely recommend to visit if you like gothic stuff and tiki bars.

Dim lighting, plush seating, rich wood + wallpaper details, and that lounge-library vibe make the place feel like a secret hideout right in the middle of Midtown. It's moody, cozy, and effortlessly intimate -- perfect for a date night, a chill catch-up, or just a night out with good drinks. Nice service, too! However: be ready for the price tag. The cocktails are absolutely beautiful -- well crafted, creative, and flavorful -- but each one will remind you that you're not exactly paying dive-bar prices. It's worthwhile, but the "overpriced drinks" vibe absolutely hits. That said: the interior design and ambience are amazing. The mix of antique-meets-modern decor, low lighting, and comfy couches gives you that classic speakeasy romance. If you appreciate aesthetics and vibe over cheap drinks -- this is your spot. We needed a place close to our Broadway show "Social Club" From welcoming, to ambiance, to service and to of course the food! My husband had indicated it was our birthdays so they provided a cute birthday card and made sure to wish us Happy Birthday when we checked in. Due to some unforseen circumstances (on our part being First time visitors not understanding NY traffic) we were short on time and they were still able to accommodate us! We were looking forward to do one their prix fix menus but had to cut our time shorter. We had the shrimp cocktail, would recommend and also really loved the serving coupe it came in! Fried artichokes that were mid at best and saved by the sauce it comes with. To save time we split the steak frites, I would recommend, though bot as tender as I normally like, I appreciate the serving and flavorful bites. The drinks are amazing and we love how they're all accompanied by a story! I had the heir to empire and our lovely waitress asked for my favorite color and when the drink arrives, it came with a little coaster in purple! And it was strong without it being overwhelming. For the remaining of dinner, I had a red wine and it was a perfect choice for the meal. Our trip to New York was too short because we wished we had been able to go back and check out their live performances. The vibe if the place was moody and inviting and we wished we could have gone back! We loved the Broadway homage throughout without being tacky.
