I walked in today ready to buy -- not browse, not waste time -- actually purchase two lamps I had already picked out. I spent 15 minutes in the showroom while every salesperson sat behind their desks, pretending to be busy, not even bothering to look up or ask if I needed help. If walk-in customers are such an inconvenience, just put a sign on the door. I guess they don't need people who show up ready to spend money. I went to the store specifically because I prefer to buy local instead of ordering on Amazon, but after this experience, I'll gladly click "Add to Cart" online. Customer service: ZERO. Interest in helping customers: ZERO. Huge disappointment. Would not recommend.

The staff is more knowledgeable than any other lighting store you'll find and their prices are competitive. They've grown from basically a light bulb store with some light fixtures to a lighting fixture store three times its original size (that also sells light bulbs) and for good reason; they sell major designer brands and they treat their customers with respect. Yes, they're often busy since they cater to designers and tradesmen that can take some time to accommodate. It's worth waiting.

(No offense to the big box stores, but I know exactly what those guys have in stock and while some of the lighting is nice, none of it is quite right for our particular house.) The old porch light fell victim today to a new front door installation. Hence the need to find a new mid-century modern light -- and quick -- because along with the installation crew is a stucco and brick repair crew that will be patching tomorrow. Due to the wider width on the fabulous new door -- and the narrower strip of brick remaining -- the fixture could only be 4-1/2" wide. At 5pm, what are the odds of being able to find the right thing before 9am the following morning? Well fortunately, it was NOT a problem! Capitol Lighting is a stocking dealer with an amazing showroom and very helpful staff. Lots and lots and lots of lighting eye candy! And lucky for me today, some cool fixtures that were exactly what I needed.

She left us to shop on our own when she saw we were dragging one another from fixture to fixture! We turned the corner and as soon as we saw it we knew it was THE one. The store was closing so we returned the next day, still in love with the light, and ordered it. Laura explained the details about the Austrian crystal and quality of the Tomia 'Ellie' fixture. We were so excited that we floated out of the store and returned 3 days later to pick it up. The guy at the warehouse behind the building was super nice and helped load the enormous box into the backseat. The day after we got the fixture, Marvin from My Electrical Genie installed it and we all stood back in amazement. The fixture is even more beautiful than when surrounded by all the other fixtures in the store. It is exactly what we wanted - contemporary, crystal, linear with curves and bright. Done. One store and one knowledgeable, smart and friendly salesperson equals a new fixture that lights us up!

Beautiful Things Lighting had the most aesthetically pleasing and quality items without 'breaking the bank' or being too modern. Kathy Caldwell, our liaison at the store, was wonderful. As we discussed various items, she was able to quickly hone in on what we were looking for. Even the final price that we were able to pay was on target and in budget. I recommend at least seeing what they have and speaking with a consultant.

BUT I had to pay a $150 service fee to have the "free" light installed. Seriously?? The installation would only happen after the review was removed, and not the other way around. What?? And the worst part was their manager Catherine convinced that she was providing the Best Customer Service with an approach like this. Terrible! JUST NOT WORTH IT! Those lights burn out so fast, and they consume major electricity. We live in the Sunshine State, the Solar Lights is the way to go!!! Save your money and the headache of dealing with a company like this. They are great in selling you their expensive products but once the job is completed, don't count on them! Only few months after, the lights were already burned out and of course "those" weren't under any warranty. Their electrical job started to come completely apart from the ground and all the lights stopped working. Left several messages and even sent emails to their website, but couldn't get anyone to assist me. Twice they called me back saying that someone was going to stop by, but it never happened. I had to hire a real electrician and another company to fix their job since they DIDN'T FOLLOW THE LEGAL ELECTRICAL CODES. Extremely disappointing! Spent a lot of money with them AND because of them.

I'll start with the end…read more I am thrilled with how my lamp looks, and I've gained tremendous knowledge regarding what to look for when rewiring a lamp. The story begins when I first brought in my Visual Comfort bedside lamp in early April after the switch started to feel as if it was overheating. Christy confirmed that the socket needed to be replaced. While the new socket was likely 'better' than my original, the flat plastic turn switch was (a) aesthetically not pleasing as the mate has a brass turn switch and (b) was not useable when laying in bed (literally, had to get out of bed to turn the lamp on/off). A little back-and-forth, some education on sockets/wattage that I didn't have prior, and legwork by Christy -- she was able to pinpoint a socket that was aesthetically close to the original, and worked better for my situation -- and I'm thrilled to have my lamp back home as good as new (possibly, even better). I am equally thrilled to have a relationship with a local, family-owned business I can trust to do the right thing. Will not hesitate to bring future projects to Quality Lighting and Accessories.

He showed up fully equipped and ready to tackle two full days of labor-intensive work without missing a beat. If you're looking for more than just a handyman and want someone who truly takes pride in their work and delivers great service, Mike is your guy.

I hired this handyman to repair a closet shelving system that had pulled away from the wall which…read morewas being used for ordinary clothing storage and was not overloaded beyond normal household use. He assured me that the repair, including the anchors he installed, would support the weight of the clothing and items normally stored in the closet. Unfortunately, only about a week after the repair was completed, the entire system failed again and collapsed. The shelving and clothing ended up on the floor, creating a significant mess and forcing us to empty the closet once more. When I contacted him, he stated that the anchors he installed had held and that the real issue was that I needed an entirely new closet system. However, this was not what I was told when the repair was performed. Had I been advised from the outset that the existing system could not be safely supported or that a replacement was necessary, I would have appreciated that honesty and made a different decision. What is most disappointing is that despite the repair failing after only a week, he refused to return and evaluate the situation without charging an additional service fee. I understand that not every repair is guaranteed forever. However, when a repair fails within days and the customer relied on the handyman's representation that it would support the intended load, I believe standing behind the work and at least reassessing the situation is reasonable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service. **UPDATE: With respect to Mike's response, many of the implications are categorically false, namely, that what is remaining of my closet is still usable and "hanging". The anchors screws, and brackets have bent and are misshaped. He also indicated fixed my toilet for "free" when, in fact, he actually exacerbated the issue and spent no more than a minute looking at the toilet and twisting the float and fill valve. So the contention that he was being generous with his time is unfounded. With respect to the text messages he's alluding to, admittedly, he did indicate he did not warranty his work, but also claimed "I'll also say this, I've never hung any shelving in somebody's called me back later and said that it came down". Moreover, "I can tell you that it's gonna go in with anchors at hold 220 pounds each and there's probably gonna be three or four so outside of that hopefully it lasts a long time". That said, given the estimated weight of the closet was no more than 150 pounds, that was less than 35% of its intended total weight, which should've held it without incident. Moreover, it's only been one week as opposed to two since he performed the job Finally, the mere fact that he wouldn't return to audit the job or two provide structured guidance and repair onsite as a gesture of Goodwill is woefully inadequate.
