I'll start with the end. I am thrilled with how my lamp looks, and I've gained tremendous knowledge regarding what to look for when rewiring a lamp. The story begins when I first brought in my Visual Comfort bedside lamp in early April after the switch started to feel as if it was overheating. Christy confirmed that the socket needed to be replaced. While the new socket was likely 'better' than my original, the flat plastic turn switch was (a) aesthetically not pleasing as the mate has a brass turn switch and (b) was not useable when laying in bed (literally, had to get out of bed to turn the lamp on/off). A little back-and-forth, some education on sockets/wattage that I didn't have prior, and legwork by Christy -- she was able to pinpoint a socket that was aesthetically close to the original, and worked better for my situation -- and I'm thrilled to have my lamp back home as good as new (possibly, even better). I am equally thrilled to have a relationship with a local, family-owned business I can trust to do the right thing. Stopped by to pick up a lamp shade, they have soooo many to choose from! We were helped by the store manager, Christy who provided very good advice. The store, as so many lighting shops are, was very crowded, and as we were making our way up to the front counter to make our purchase, we began noticing some of their lighting fixtures and fans. As fate would have it, we were looking for some additional items for our home. We found several items that struck our fancy (we like modern, clean designs) and after spending s lot of time with Christy figuring out what would fit and work in certain rooms, we ended up buying six fans to replace ones we were not really fond of. Having lived with them for the past three years, it was about time! And we bought the lampshade too! UPDATE ---------- We returned to pick up our order, and noticed that the four outdoor fans that we had selected were a different brand than what we thought we had purchased. When we placed the order, they had a fan on display with a sign which we interpreted as saying it was a "Big Ass" fan (hey, that's really the company's name -- and it is a well known manufacturer of large commercial fans). The fans they put into our car were made by Craftmade, a brand unknown to us. We were told that Big Ass did not make a fan in the size we wanted, and that Craftmade was also well made. We took the fans, and then checked Craftmade out online. We found that Craftmade did, in fact make quality fans, and stood behind them. However we also saw that big online companies were selling the same fan for quite a bit less than what Quality Lighting charged us. We called Quality Lighting, describing what we found, noting that we understood they were a small company, and might not be able to meet the prices posted online. However, the price difference was fairly significant (especially considering we purchased four fans), and we asked for an explanation. After checking it out on their end, they promptly issued a refund to our credit card for the FULL amount of the difference, which was not requested, nor expected. They claimed their sign (which they say has since been changed) was just showing a picture of the Big Ass fan to indicate the Craftmade fan was similar-looking, which it was, and with them being a small dealer, and not getting a volume discount from the manufacturer, quoted a price based on their cost. The fans have not yet been installed, and we are looking forward to putting them all up on our lanai. We note that we also purchased a chandelier and two other fans at the same time, and our research indicates that they were fairly priced. As noted in my first review, we received good advice, information, and service when we made our purchase. Without the detour related to the brand/price differential, I would give them 4 stars. However, taking everything that happened into account, I have to mark it down to a 3-star rating. read more

Despite what Amy F stated solely based on politics, she obviously know anything about this business. In fact, she didn't even have a customer experience to review. I, on the other hand, bought 3 lamps and was extremely impressed by my salesperson knowledge of light design. She was extremely helpful in determining my lighting needs for my bedroom and office. In fact, she was much more knowledgeable about light design than almost any general interior designer. She did mention that they had been providing lighting for GL Homes model units for many years. Stay away! Rude is to put the treatment mildly! The hostile employee followed me out of the store (to my car!) screaming that I'm a B*tch for about the fifth time. When I was at the door leaving she said she hoped I would trip. My order took over 5 weeks to fabricate instead of the 2 to 3 week time frame as promised. No apologies just hostile , arrogant attitude. Take your business elsewhere. One star is being generous; I wish a negative option was available. read more

We brought an antique lamp in for repair and were quoted $130 (new cord, new stem, new switch). We balked, because we were not sure it was worth it. Christy, our salesperson, told us that lamps like this can sell at auction for $1000-$2000 and recommended that we use Hood, an auctioneer, down the street. We should've gone over to Hood right away but we didn't. I figured we would make a little money even if she was off by a long shot. When we returned a few days later and paid for the repair, we went over to Hood and were told it would probably bring $100! Shame on us for not checking first of course, but, to be off by an order of magnitude like that, I can only conclude Christy has no idea what she's talking about, or she's full of it, or both. When we got the lamp home we realized they had forgotten to put a switch on the new cord! They refused to pick it up and made us drive back there for a 3rd time to get the switch put on. I don't know the name of the gentleman we dealt with that second time, but he was very weird. I don't recommend this place. Two stars only because the lamp does work after all. read more

Just repaired three lamps at Quality Lighting. I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews that were written on the web. The lamps were very special to me - two were antique oriental lamps and the other was a statue table lamp. They came out fabulous. I brought in an antique lamp for repair. The electrician really did an excellent job on an intricate repair. They added a two socket pull chain and a three way switch at the base. It was a really nice job! Excellent. A 75 year old lamp works just like new now! read more

The worst customer service, they lie and are Rude. I purchased a lamp shade and when I bought it I was very hesitant because the color was wrong but the saleswoman told me I could bring it back. She also told me it needed a "riser" and put another harp on it, which they charged over $10 for. Home Depot charges $4 . 1 week later I brought it back because it wasn't the right color. I stood around for a while because they had 1 other customer. A man can out of the back room and asked what I needed and I told him I wanted to return my lampshade. He turned around and went back into the back room without saying a word to me. The saleswoman comes over to me and tells me "All lampshade sales are final" and I look at her and tell her she is the same woman who told me if it wasn't right to bring it back. She then said look at your receipt it says "sales final". I argued with her and she finally offers an exchange but I told her they didn't have the right color last week. Then she says we can make a "custom" shade for me. Typical bait and switch. I told them I was going to post on social media and the guy says "go ahead nobody reads them anyway". I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before going in there. What store doesn't return an item that the customer is not happy with, one who is only interested in a one sale per customer and doesn't expect to be in business very long. A very short sighted business practice, especially if your a small business that depends on repeat business. I believe these are fairly new owners or managers of this business. Oh by the way, the woman did the same thing to me chasing me out the door taking pictures of my license plate yell obscenities. This is a long review because I want to warm people this is a rip-off store, most of the items they sell can be had for have the price on-line or at Home Depot, that's why there is a sign no photographs, they don't want you to price check to see how much you are getting screwed. read more

This establishment isn't even worth one star. I took my Grandmother's antique lamp in for a new socket. I received a call that one of the feet was broken off. I stopped by to see it and they had me believing I brought it in broken. I left thinking that I will look for the foot. However, after putting all the facts together that was not the case. I took the lamp from the house wrapped up in tack to the store. Houdini couldn't have gotten out of the wrapping. Kevin wrote it up at a quote of 65.00. When I said that was a lot he said that the electrician is firm on his price insinuating that he was difficult. When Kevin took it in - if the foot was broken why didn't he notice???? Professional businesses would want to protect their reputation by inspecting at the time of intake. I was unable to find any piece surprise surprise! So here are the facts...1. if the foot was broken how did it stand on the counter when I brought it in.-- this lamp has been in the family for years with no damages. 2. Kevin made no note that it was damaged because it wasn't. 3. They told me the electrician who turns out to be the father (nepotism) - of the owner fixed it so it could stand broken... if they thought I had a chance of finding the piece why would you do this? Is he really an electrician and why didn't he have this conversation with me since he did the work? Ask to see his certification. When I went in to the store to have a discussion that I did not bring in broken, the female just kept denying everything saying they have been in business for many years like I was insulting her and her elderly father. I have the utmost respect for older folks she was trying to make me feel bad. It is a crystal lamp and they were quick to tell me they cleaned the inside of the crystal. That was not on the agreement I signed so why did you do it! I didn't ask for that! And it looked no different. For a company so strict with money why would you do something the customer didn't ask or PAY for???????? Behinds how would the inside get dirty... She said but look how clean it is.. and now broken! It gets better.. she said she has video to prove it was broken upon intake... I quickly asked to see it. Her response was no because there were private things like money on there. Really? Hey, don't throw it out as evidence if you are unwilling to produce and clear your great reputation!!! I asked for a discount, and the answer was no.. even though they make you pay up front.. and now I know why. She then wanted me to sign for pick up and I wrote a note on the paperwork and she held the lamp hostage until I signed without the note documenting the truth. I put in the car to see that the bottom had not been closed properly with felt. She took it in fixed and had the nerve to say she wont charge me. They also kept saying I had the cord wrapped around the feet- then why didn't all the feet break? I am an educated, business professional, and I cant believe the manipulation, lack of service and professionalism. If you are reading this I encourage you to trust the consumer and look elsewhere. If you choose not to believe, buyer beware. Document and take pictures. Simply ask them to pay when you pick up and lets see if they will stand on their reputation!! Do they ask everyone to pay up front?? Or even just give them a deposit. What do I have to gain from lying???? To save 65.00? Really! I never asked them to replace the lamp!! Sadly, one of the few mementos I have from my Grandmother is ruined. My time is valuable but I wrote this review as I was compelled to help the next consumer. Have been to QL twice - the second time was today - and each time was helped by Christie. She is SO knowledgeable AND so nice, my husband and I thought surely, she must be the owner. But she's not, which is what makes our experience with her all the more delightful and impressive. Her boss should definitely, definitely definitely give her another raise!! Brought a lamp for repair and told them that I was having trouble with the switch. When I returned, they said the problem was the transformer, for which I paid. But when they tried the lamp, it did not work. On my insistence they checked the switch and the lamp worked. I asked for my original transformer and the Female said she would get it. Soon after the Male said it was thrown-on MLK day!! I believe that I was stuck with a transformer I did not need. I also do not believe the electrician was was truly an electrician, as I asked for his name and lic. Number and was refused this information. Beware of this place. You are warned. read more

After doing an extensive Google search, I decided to go to Quality Lighting to have two antique lamps rewired and cleaned up. I also needed new shades. As soon as I walked into the store, I knew I had made the right decision. My confidence in Andrew's expertise was immediate, and I was happy to leave the lamps for the necessary repairs. To my surprise, the lamps were ready after only two days. When I went to pick them up today (3/5/2018), Andrew helped me to select the finials and shades. I deferred to his knowledge and impeccable taste, and I am so happy with the final product. The lamps look beautiful in my newly renovated apartment, and I am so pleased that I was able to "keep" them because they have been a family possession for over 70 years. Andrew's guidance in this endeavor was essential and I will be forever grateful. Guess what? I will be going back to Quality Lighting in a few weeks to have work done on three other lamps.
