I'll start with the end…read more I am thrilled with how my lamp looks, and I've gained tremendous knowledge regarding what to look for when rewiring a lamp. The story begins when I first brought in my Visual Comfort bedside lamp in early April after the switch started to feel as if it was overheating. Christy confirmed that the socket needed to be replaced. While the new socket was likely 'better' than my original, the flat plastic turn switch was (a) aesthetically not pleasing as the mate has a brass turn switch and (b) was not useable when laying in bed (literally, had to get out of bed to turn the lamp on/off). A little back-and-forth, some education on sockets/wattage that I didn't have prior, and legwork by Christy -- she was able to pinpoint a socket that was aesthetically close to the original, and worked better for my situation -- and I'm thrilled to have my lamp back home as good as new (possibly, even better). I am equally thrilled to have a relationship with a local, family-owned business I can trust to do the right thing. Will not hesitate to bring future projects to Quality Lighting and Accessories.

J&J Telecom and Electric - Home improvement

I would highly recommend J&J Telecom & Electric. Paul was pleasant and professional. He was…read moreknowledgeable and skilled. He did several projects around my home, including removal of existing kitchen lighting, installation of new high hats in the kitchen, installation of several GFI outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, and installation of a new ceiling fan on our balcony. When he arrived the first day at the scheduled time, he was without his helper, who called out (it was a holiday weekend!), so we rescheduled. As a gift for the inconvenience, the next day he replaced an old high hat with a new LED and swapped out old dimmers switches with new. His prices are reasonable and, although the jobs took longer than he expected, he still charged me the quoted price. He returned a couple times, once to replace a bulb he broke in the attic and to replace our TV, which he accidentally scratched. The scratch was so minor, I almost felt guilty accepting a brand-new TV, but I was so impressed that he copped to it immediately and made it right. You almost come to expect workers in your home to make a mess and not clean up, but he really went the extra mile to ensure we were satisfied with everything. The last job he did was replace a light kit in a ceiling fan in my office. It wasn't working right. For months it was hit or miss whether it would stay on. He spent hours pulling it apart trying to figure out what was wrong with it, which he finally determined it was a defective safety mechanism, which once removed solved the problem. He advised against using the light without it. I bought a new light kit and he returned to install it. He only charged me for the install. He didn't charge me for all the time he spent diagnosing the problem, which I really appreciated! I would definitely use him again.

I have used them twice. Very reasonable and very responsible. Highly recommend them.read more

Dan's Fan City - Fan shopping

I was shopping around for ceiling fans to replace the three that I currently have. Once I explained the situation to Bernie, he said before I purchase new fans, give his installer a call; because most likely I just needed my fans to be reset or something minor with the remotes. He referred me to Marc who owns Marclite Electric, Inc. I called Marc & in less than 45 minutes my three fans were working perfectly. I will write a review later for Marclite & it will be five stars. I mentioned to Bernie that I was thinking about upgrading my 52" fan in the living room to 60" or maybe even larger. When I told him my 2/2 condo is less than 1000 feet, he suggested I stay with what I have. He was familiar with my condo development as well as the condo layout and he was refreshingly honest with me, therefore saving me money. Dan's Fan City has a lovely selection of fans in all sizes and styles. If and when I replace my ceiling fans I will go back to Dan's in a heartbeat. Thank you Bernie for your time and your advice. I highly recommend Dan's to anyone looking for new ceiling fans. They have a large selection with reasonable price points, & Marclite Electric is their preferred installer. They are located a few stores down from The Girls Market & Bambini's Pizza. I highly recommend going to see Bernie for all things fan related. He steered me in the right direction and saved me a lot of money. He had an opportunity to make a nice sale, and instead he did the right thing by me; which is truly appreciated. Thank you Bernie.

She left us to shop on our own when she saw we were dragging one another from fixture to fixture! We turned the corner and as soon as we saw it we knew it was THE one. The store was closing so we returned the next day, still in love with the light, and ordered it. Laura explained the details about the Austrian crystal and quality of the Tomia 'Ellie' fixture. We were so excited that we floated out of the store and returned 3 days later to pick it up. The guy at the warehouse behind the building was super nice and helped load the enormous box into the backseat. The day after we got the fixture, Marvin from My Electrical Genie installed it and we all stood back in amazement. The fixture is even more beautiful than when surrounded by all the other fixtures in the store. It is exactly what we wanted - contemporary, crystal, linear with curves and bright. Done. One store and one knowledgeable, smart and friendly salesperson equals a new fixture that lights us up!

Beautiful Things Lighting had the most aesthetically pleasing and quality items without 'breaking the bank' or being too modern. Kathy Caldwell, our liaison at the store, was wonderful. As we discussed various items, she was able to quickly hone in on what we were looking for. Even the final price that we were able to pay was on target and in budget. I recommend at least seeing what they have and speaking with a consultant.
