I called Excel because it was one of three Angie's List recommended, and Karen - the office manager - said a technician would be out the next day. Even though Excel was the third Electrician I called, Victor was here the next day. I showed him the two problem switches/fans and then showed him my other fans (I have one in each room & 2 in the kitchen). The first wall switch he removed had suffered a short. He showed me the 'Flash Point' before removing the ceiling fan. He discovered that the fan had been wired improperly, and give me my acceptable options that conformed to FL code. I had to order the switches and adapter for inside the ceiling wiring (which Amazon was able to deliver in 2-days). So by the end of the week, the fans were working perfectly. When victor got to inspecting my bedroom fans, both had burned out the wall switches and the lights. That night I picked up two 3-blade fans. Three days later, I had all eight fans working perfectly. Florida Power & Light has been bombarding me with ads for a whole house surge suppressor. I had done some research and Victor showed me their 'top of the line suppressor. With the monthly charge that FPL would charge me each & every month, the suppressor Excel would install would pay for itself after 15-months. Needless to say, I found Excel Electrical to be excellent electricians. Their service is impeccable, their prices are competitive, and their work is thorough for the services they were hired to perform. I can't recommend Excel Electrical strongly enough! Thanks to Karen. This morning I called Atlantic AC Supply asking if they had wall vents for my apartment. I gave…read morethem the measurements and they confirmed availability. So at 2:00 PM I went there to buy them. I purchased four vents for a reasonable price and came back home to install them. I installed the one in the master bedroom and the one in the great room. When I went to install the third one, I realized that one of the flaps was missing it place. I checked the last one I had bought and it was in the same condition. I decided to go back immediately, and when I arrived, the store owner immediately asked me what was wrong. I approached him and showed the problem. At that moment the lady who took care of me when I did the purchased, immediately said that the vent had fallen and that someone had damaged it. I told her that I was the only person in my house and that I hadn't even opened the vent's packaging. The woman started manipulating the vent, trying to bend the sides to fix the problem, to which I replied that I would prefer a new one. The store owner angrily refused. He said he had carefully handed them to me and they were in perfect condition. He said I had taken them out of the box and everything seemed normal. I replied that I had taken one out to check the screws and see if they matched (comparing) the used ones I had brought, which the woman confirmed. The owner started yelling. I told him there was no need for that, and he continued yelling, telling he knew people like me. I replied that he didn't, that he didn't know who I am, and finished by telling him that I am a decent man. At that point, I felt it was appropriate to leave the store to prevent things from escalating. The truth is, I feel I've been scammed. There was no intention of accepting defective parts from the beginning, which violates consumer rights. I definitely cannot recommend them, but this will not go unpunished. I am going to file a complaint with the small business bureau because there is no justification for the kind of treatment I received. It's not about the nearly $70.00 that was stolen, it's about the trust one can have in a business that doesn't provide the support that every consumer is entitled to, not to mention the rudeness with which I was treated.
