86 This is a welcomed addition to the sparse food selections of Ellsworth. Outside of fast food or fast casual, Ellsworth only has a handful of restaurants to offer decent food that doesn't taste like it was taken out of a freezer from a plastic bag. The atmosphere of 86 This is casual. It is not seeking a Mexican theme, and instead decided on simple decor, which works. There is ample seating to mow down on a burrito with tables or lunch counter style seating. They have an assortment of bottled beer, soft drinks, iced teas, and water. The burritos are good, plentiful, and delicious. I've been here twice, ordered the Boss Hog both times, and the taste was consistent, which is a big plus. I like the food selection of build your own burritos, or a list of signature styles. My critiques: The burrito has a tendency to be cold at times, with hot meat and cold coleslaw mixed together, which does not bode well for me. All hot or all cold. This mixture is slightly off putting. Also, the food is all layered in the burrito. In other words, since you hold a burrito upright to eat, it is like an archaeological dig of ingredients. I wish the layers were spread along the wrap, not in globs at differing places. I get halfway down and it I've eaten all the pork, and now it is just beans and cheese and rice. Good place. Seems slightly pricey. Two burritos, a soda and ice tea, with two dollar tip, $30 for lunch. read more

Oh my god, this was SO. GOOD. It's a pretty typical burrito place, you get to choose burrito or bowl, easily customizable, etc. but there was something special about this one. I got the Yam I Am in a bowl and it's seriously the best burrito bowl I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Something to note: it did take around 30 minutes for our food to come out which seemed a little strange. But they warned us ahead of time and we had no problem with it. read more

The food here was good! That being said the price was a bit high for the drinks and the place felt too spacious, the decor was cool but didn't fill like it filled the place as much as it could. If the price point was a little lower or the portions bigger, I could easily see this place being four stars, but when we left we were still a bit hungry, something you don't expect after eating burritos. read more

Great stop for lunch on way from Bar Harbor to Camden today. We had roasted cauliflower soup, the Old School (chicken salad) wrap and Pebbles and Weeds (chicken, mozzarella and tomatoes) wrap. Large portions, very fresh and fast. Nice outside eating area also. Delightful lunch. read more

This place puts Chipotle and Qdoba to extreme shame. The staff was awesomely nice and the Yam I Am was insanely delicious; I got it as a salad and WOW. We had called ahead to see if they had availability and when we showed up they asked if we had called--they wanted to make sure we found our way there okay--how nice, right? Good options for both the meat lover & vegetarian. Interesting flavor combinations. I wanted to try them all! I did decide on the Boss Hog and loved it! I did feel it had a slightly over abundance of the nondescript rice filler, but the pulled pork was delicious and the pickled cabbage was a great flavor accent in the burrito. My burrito could definitely be spicier, but I'll know to ask for a little kick for next time! They had a variety of drinks, I had the Old Soaker Sarsaparilla soda which is sweet and crisp. read more

My wife and I both grew up on the downeast coast of Maine and were excited to discover a new place in a place we often visited, in Ellsworth, Maine. 86 This, is located right downtown in a cozy old brick building. They offer a wide variety of wraps, burritos, and salads, in a clean and modern space. The prices are good and the food is oh so tasty. I highly recommend, 86 This. My wife ordered the Beet Nick wrap. Which I sampled, of course. It was stuffed with cubes beets, fresh greens, and topped with a zesty creamy dill sauce. I decided on the Yam I Am burrito. I have to say it was one of the yummiest burritos I've had in ages! It was completely stuffed with mashed sweet potatoes, black beans, spiced rice, and avocados. In a word, amazing! The Yam I Am also had a surprisingly delicious creamy chipotle sauce. We will definitely visit again next time we are downeast. There are a couple of reviews on Yelp that state that there are no restrooms and 86 This does not accept credit cards. We saw many folks use a restroom while we were waiting for our order today. We also came armed with cold hard cash, but it looked like the person after us paid with plastic. (I can't confirm that, but we were pretty sure.) 86 This is a good value and serves excellent food. Cold smoked chicken wrap with an Asian style slaw and crunchy peanut sauce-fresh as could be, great service, albeit with the hint of attitude you can expect from today's millennial service workers, but whatever. I wouldn't really consider this a vegetarian place. You can make thing vegetarian however, you can do that anywhere. The food was nothing special. Chipotle is way better. There pico de Gallo seemed like it was just chopped up tomatoes, nothing else. The food was not terrible but it was pretty bland. The rice and beans did not have any flavor. read more

Went here on a whim after seeing it on Yelp as my wife and I were on our way home from Bar Harbor. If you find yourself in Ellsworth and need a lunch spot, 86 This is it. I had the Skankin' Pickle sandwich; it kind of resembled a Cuban. The ingredients were fresh, and I was impressed by the flavor profile. It's sad that I live 2,000 miles away from this place. I F'ing love this place. The newer location is great, originally it was just a little hole in the wall up the street. The Boss Hog burrito is one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth, and being able to eat it while listening to Fugazi is an added bonus. And I can say with confidence that the place is super clean because my kid likes to escape from high chairs and I have had to peel her out from underneath the tables and there literally isn't even a speck of dust under there. read more

Lets get one thing out of the way: these are not authentic burittos, they are gringo burritos. They are loosely inspired by the Central American food but have gone a different direction. That being said, they're great! Very healthy, delicious and appropriate portion sizes. Also the space is beautiful and clean. Also, we had a delicious molasses cookie afterwards. What a great find!! The food was outstanding, and the employees invested in their jobs. We had hummus and black bean dip that was amazing. Served with bread. Also had carrot soup which was not only excellent but filling. We ordered the Beet burrito and had to take it home. Good job to all the staff. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the whole experience was positive. Ellsworth needed some good healthy alternative restaurant. This one fits the bill. read more

Been here a few times over the years but never written a review. This is a nice spot right on Main Street. If wraps and burritos are your thing, this is a great place to stop at passing through or visiting or just grabbing some lunch. The room is spartan but serviceable...it IS a lunch room. Wraps come in all varieties and changes don't seem to faze them. Have recently had a ham-based wrap (named after a punk band whose name eludes me)...good flavors, lots of stuff stuffed into it. Easily big enough to share. Also had a pulled pork burrito which was awesome. (Confession...I had the burrito as a day-old left-over out of the frig...it held up and was good nuked just a bit to take the chill off.) Another aside...when we were ordering, another customer group fessed up to not knowing what a wrap was...they got a great start to the world of wrap. read more

So this has to be my favorite restaurant to eat at since I moved to Ellsworth 2 1/12 years ago. The staff is extremely friendly. Restaurant is very clean and organized. When my fiance and I dined there we ordered a build your own nachos. Order was out to us within 5 minutes of placing it, wow! It was absolutely delicious! Chicken was still hot and the vegetables were as fresh as can be. Order came to $17. For the price we still had left overs to take home with us. Portions are very large. The food is fresh and delicious every single time, the service is fast and I've never received a wrong item here. Lots of veg options. My absolute favorite is the Yam I Am burrito - the roasted sweet potatoes are deliciously sweet and very filling. I love the Forest Fire chili too. It's spicy and full of beans.
