I finally found a really good Mexican place in Bangor. It is owned by the same fella who owns Las Palapas, so I didn't have much hope for it. It is located by the airport, outside of a Quality Inn. Normally that would mean "Meh" for service and quality, but it didn't on the Sunday afternoon I went. I walked in and was thrilled to hear Selena playing overhead, a great start. The waitress was attentive and cute. I got birria and it was so moist and flavorful! It tasted like the Mexican food I had in Taxco, so it was just fantastic. My companion had the chicken with spinach enchiladas and they rocked it. So good! For 35 dollars for two people, it was a bargain. Oh nom nom nom! read more

Our experience was excellent! The En Mole was terrific, not sweet, and a little kick. The rice was fresh and flavorful. My friend's enchiladas were very good. The chips and salsa were plentiful and good. Servers were friendly and I love the long bar and the high seat booths. They did a nice job converting the old "Ground Round". I'm a big mole fan and this is the best Mole in the area!! read more

Very delicious. The best meal I've had since I've been in Maine a few days. I got the Yolandas enchiladas with verde sauce and it was the best I have had since I was in Mexico about 16 years ago. My son got the Arroz con Pollo, enjoyed it very much and said it was delicious. Beautifully decorated and very clean. Waitress was very nice. I would love to eat here again if the opportunity ever arises. read more

service was a little slow without being too busy but check ins were good during dinner! Food was so good, the broth for the quesabirria was a tad plain but still so good, the meat was very tender and the street corn...phenomenal. heavy on the queso fresco but so good! the math was perfect as well! read more

OMG! Bangor Maine has several excellent Mexican eateries. Roco Azul is clearly at the top of this list. The server brought us a basket of fresh warm tortilla chips & salsa. Both were excellent made in house. The chips were huge and fresh. I'd even call them delicate. We came to lunch after find out that our wait at the BMV (motor vehicle) would exceed an hour. Lunch arrived with 10 minutes of our ordering. My wife got a Mexican Salad loaded with fresh grilled shrimp. There must have been ten shrimp - all decent size. I ordered Cabrillos- a shredded beef & cheese inside a grilled corn tortilla. Magnificent accurately describes this dish. I could only eat two of the three folded tortillas that were served with lunch. We cannot wait to return for more delights. The restaurant has been open 8 months and I wish them continued success. I stopped here after getting off a plane because it looked like the only place in town. I'm not sure if I was right about it being the only place in town, but it was convenient from the airport on the way to our destination Acadia national Park. It was a Friday night and we may have been the only people there. I don't think Mexican food is big in Maine. Despite it not being busy, the service was still lacking as well with minimal checks and refills. I know every Mexican restaurant is different but this one definitely feels short of the ones we have back home in Kentucky - both in taste and value. My son ordered the enchiladas and the version that he ordered was supposed to have shrimp steak and chicken. They brought him out a dish that only had chicken. I ordered something that I've never seen on a Mexican menu before which was the poblano enchiladas. The enchiladas were extremely bland. They lacked a lot of seasoning. For two people our meal cost about $50 before tip. Definitely not worth it in my opinion. read more

Did not disappoint. Started off with warm nacho chips and salsa. I got the Govenor Tacos (grilled shrimp, pablano peppers and onions, with settled cheese). The 3 tacos were huge with 4 big pieces of shrimp. Ambiance was nice. My margarita was tasty and the server was polite. Plan on going back. read more

Amazing find right by our hotel. Food was great and reasonably priced. Server and service were on point! Loved the ribeye tacos and to top this wonderful experience off we got a surprise discount for staying at the local hotel 5 read more

Good Mexican food can be hard to come by in Maine. I say this as someone who lived in California for more than 25 years. Roca Azul is authentic, tasty, and their lunch specials are exceptional, and priced well. They start you off with an overflowing bowl of tortilla chips and a small carafe of salsa, with small bowls so everyone can double-dip without eyes rolling. The verde burrito was overstuffed with marinated pork. The plate also had cheese-covered refried beans and rice. The rice was the only disappointment with canned corn, carrots, and peas. (Note to owners: leave these in the can). The restaurant is spacious and their lunch specials are a true bargain. Margaritas appeared enormous (Note to self: try these next time). Great to see cheerful service and fine food near the airport, but even if you're not flying out, it's worth the trip. read more

Great food , hearty servings, fast service, nice atmosphere , yummy margaritas ... will definitely be back!!!

We were surprised to find authentic Mexican food in Bangor. We've been to lesser trod areas of Mexico. Their dishes are from different regions, great flavors. Fresh ingredients. We got there early, the place was full by the time we left. We sat at the bar, warm chips and homemade salsa came w the menu. My favorite Shrimp Diabla was flavorful and hot! As it should be! The Chicken Al Pastor tacos were delicious. We had birria as our appetizer, so rich. Its traditional to have a layer of oil on top of the beefy consomne, not my preference. Overall, loved it wish this place was further south! read more

When we arrived complimentary chips and salsa were delivered immediately! The salsa and the chips were excellent. When we come to visit family we stay at the Home 2Suites so it's very conveniently located next to the hotel. Their prices are very reasonable. The food tasted very satisfying. They do not have a happy hour BUT! On Friday, Saturday and Tuesday (all day-I asked!) jumbo house margaritas, which were strong and great tasting, are just $6.99! We will surely be returning very soon Sorry, I usually add Photos but was just to hungry read more

Customer service 0/10 we waited for about an hour to get put in our orders. Until we were just over it and paid for our drinks and left. Restaurant was not even to its max capacity for the service to be so slow. The server didn't even apologize for the inconvenience when paying for out drinks. He was very dismissive. Very unhappy with my experience here!!! Will not be coming here again. read more

Excellent service. The food has been on point every time we have gone here. It's very upbeat. The music definitely adds to the atmosphere. My grandson loves the complimentary chips and salsa. Every time we go he gets a Jarrito's soda. read more

Roca Azul in Bangor is a fantastic New Mexican spot with seriously delicious food. Everything tastes fresh and packed with flavor, and the portions are just right. The beer is always cold, which makes the whole experience even better. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and meals that hit the spot every time. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Steak Roca Azul was terrific, sizable, and hit the spot. Carne Asada per my wife was excellent as well. She enjoyed her Mojito, which was served in a large bowl glass. Fantastic service, their team was coordinated on the floor, fast and attentive. The restaurant was very clean. We will return when visiting Bangor area again. read more

Probably the best Mexican food in Bangor! I use to live in the south to include New Mexico so finding more authentic good Mexican food is not easy...in Maine let alone Bangor! This was surprisingly good and tasty. Hot, but not too hot, good fresh flavors and great Mexican flavors. The place is clean and nicely decorated, staff and service were friendly! Pricing about the norm for 2025, but worth it if you're looking for good food. My husband had Enchiladas Rancheros and I had quesabirria. Both were just delicious! We both hope that the restaurant does well and doesn't change to suit local tastes. Awesome! read more

Been 3 times over 4 months. At first it was great, and great service. The second time food was ok, but service wasn't great and we waited way to long for the bill. The 3rd and last time I will ever go was terrible! Horrible service, I wanted to leave but hubby really wanted queso. Queso came with dirty dishes! The wooden base was filthy and had dried cheese on it. The never brought us small plates to eat off! The salsa bowls were also dirty! The waiter never came back to take our order! A waitress saw us sitting forever and took the order. Food had gone downhill and we both ended the evening with stomach aches! read more

Food and atmosphere were excellent! I had the chimichangas lunch special, I upgraded to shrimp and it was exceptional. Hubby did the signature steak dish which he said was delicious. We each ordered margaritas which quenched our thirst and gave us a little afternoon buzz. Highly recommend, can't wait to come back. read more

Got the coupon on the newspaper and got excited about trying a different restaurant want a different flavors. Long Walk for handicap person to go from parked car to front door. But we were welcomed by a friendly face at the hostess stand and she sat us right away there were only 7 to 10 other customers TVs with football and soccer. We were seated in a corner booth the decor is new modern clean and refreshing. We were welcomed by John who waited on us for the evening. We Ordered enchiladas and a spinach onion quesadilla. Everything was accompanied with black beans rice refried beans and salad. The food was hot delicious and well presented. I can't wait to eat my leftovers for lunch. Ample servings and tasty sauces without being cloying. Looking forward to my next visit. Oh and the house Margarita was terrific perfect balance. We highly recommend it. read more

Service, very good, food very good, drinks very large! Reasonably priced, delicious we are passing through but we would come here often if we were local read more

The food was okay, I would have been more disappointed but I will give some grace since we did show up an hour before closing. The margaritas were incredibly weak, we got multiple pitchers and none of us really felt a thing. The vibe was sort of off, because they clearly start cleaning way before closing so they can leave right away. Understandable, but I had to look around for silverware and a menu because everyone was busy doing other things. Not a bad option if your flight got cancelled and it's one of the few places open. read more

We have been eating at Mexican restaurants for the last 60 years and this is by far the best one that we have ever been to. Everything we had was excellent. I had enchiladas and my husband had a burrito as our entrees. We also had their queso dip with ground beef. OMG! It was ALL amazing! We highly, highly recommend. One thing of note: we were staying at the Marriott Bonvoy's Fairfield Inn right next door. They gave us a list of restaurants nearby and Roca Azul was not on the list. It's right next door! When we got to the restaurant we told our waiter this information. He was surprised but asked if we had our room key from the hotel. We showed it to him and he gave us a 10% discount. And his restaurant is not even on the hotel's list! Of course we informed the front desk that they need to add this restaurant to their list that they hand out to their guests. To Roca Azul: Hopefully, the hotel will do this and you will start getting the gazillion guests who are here at the hotel waiting for their cruise. The entire hotel was full. read more

Sorry but this place is not great. Miguel's is the best in Bangor I think. Las Palapas is better and I think they're owned by the same people. The Margaritas came out of a machine and were weak and not good and over priced for what you get.The burger was not good in the Chimichangas and they were soft not fried. The staff on the other hand was friendly and did a great job. read more

Since this restaurant has opened at 248 Odlin Rd. in Bangor, my family has dined there twice and each time it has been great. We have visited their other locations in the Bangor Brewer area, but we like this location the best. The service was friendly and quick, and the food filled our bellies until we could eat no more. We will definitely be back. read more

Worst dining experience I have had in years. Close to our hotel. Had great reviews. Sat at bar and bartender was difficult to communicate with. Got Chips and Salsa immediately, which was good because we rarely saw him again. Ordered Cerviche for appetizer, which should have taken no time but took over 20 minutes. Because of that we ordered the entrees to go upon delivery of app. And then we waited and waited. There was no one tending the bar. We did observe 5 employees at the end of the bar near the kitchen chatting it up and having a good old time. Finally got the to go meal delivered and again he disappeared. went to hostess station and waited because no one was in attendance. Finally someone showed up and I said "get us our tab so we can get out of here"! And even that took time and we never saw her again. Oh, also they had a sports betting channel on the tv. NO game. We asked them to put on the football game but no could do. Muttered something about Spectrum. No apologies, not a shred of concern. What a joke. Will never, ever go back. And btw, the take out we got was revealed as a pile of inedible garbage. And it was not busy. At all read more
