We stopped at Casa Jalisco on the ways from Arcadia Ntional park to Boston, for lunch and had a pleasant experience overall. I ordered the Taco Salad (lunch size), which was just the right portion--fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without being too heavy. We also tried the Lunch Fajitas, and they were delicious--nicely seasoned and served sizzling hot. For the kids, we got the Cheese Quesadilla with fries. While the quesadilla itself was great, they served it with quesadilla and an enormous pile of fries--honestly, way more than necessary for a child's plate. It felt a bit excessive and could easily be scaled down. Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly. A solid spot for a casual Mexican meal with good lunch specials! For what it is (the only Mex restaurant in Ellsworth) it's fine. Put some alcohol in the margaritas!! Prices are a little steep for Mexican fare. Mole is "out of a can". But the people are generally friendly and it's better than what "used to be" in that space... Burger King.... Can't say that of the old Denny's down the road.... So... there!! read more

Service: ** Our server was friendly, understood our dietary restrictions, and made sure no animal products were added--great! But... he failed to mention that adding veggies would cost us nearly $12 extra. Since we couldn't have meat or rice, it would've literally just been beans otherwise. It felt like we were being upcharged simply for needing a vegan meal. They really should have a proper vegetarian or vegan option on the menu instead of charging à la carte and surprising you with the total. Small city in downeast Maine on Cinco de Mayo. Not sure if there was a resident of Ellsworth who wasn't at Casa Jalisco. Anyway, I ordered the Nachos Fajitas and the steak burrito. Had to wait a bit, but it was worth the wait. The flavors were on point and deep! Absolutely delicious. I didn't get to interact with any of the staff (takeout order), but on what I imagine is their busiest day of the year, they certainly were efficient. Drinks, chips & guac were almost flying to each table. Helped that it was a nice night and people were also sitting outdoors. Restaurant was clean and comfortably noisy that evening. I remember not wanting a Mexican restaurant to be quiet when enjoying an ice cold Modelo and some festive food. Those places are always a good time. I recommend Casa Jalisco! read more

We stopped for a late lunch while on vacation. At 2:30pm, the dining room was full. The decor was authentic and tasteful. We ordered drinks and we were given chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was in a little carafe. I have a gluten allergy so I asked if the chips were GF. Sadly, no. The meals came quickly and all the food was very good and plentiful. Definitely a good value for the prices. I had enchiladas and explained my gluten allergy. I didn't get sick after , so they did a very good job. My son said this was his favorite Mexican restaurant, which is saying a lot, because we go to quite a few. Too bad we live in CT!! After a morning in Acadia National Park we were hungry and looking for Mexican food. Casa Jalisco did not disappoint. We were seated immediately and served chips and homemade salsa. We ordered a variety of drinks, including the margarita flight, beer and a margarita. We all were happy with our choices . The flight included a mango, peach, strawberry and raspberry margarita. The peach and mango were the best. Each included a fresh blueberry. Our group had shrimp tacos, enchiladas,, fajitas and pollo mayo . Portions were generous and served with rice, lettuce and sour cream. All were prepared perfectly. Service was attentive and fast. A good spot in Ellsworth. read more

We are staying in the area this month and have been here twice now. I will state that I am very particular about authentic Mexican cuisine. It's a really cute vibe and the decor is great. The first time was honestly a bit underwhelming, as the service was a bit impersonal and the food was decent, but bland. I had a grilled chicken burrito the first time and it had no seasoning to speak of. Fortunately, I carry my own personal bottle of Tajin & hot sauce, so these amped up my meal. However, the second visit, the waitress was much more personable and even nudged me to try the shredded chicken as it "has more flavor". So I ordered the Chimi Fajitas with shredded chicken and Charro beans. She was correct, the meal was much better. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The rice is fresh and fluffy. The charro beans were good, but not great. My husband liked his meal both times, enchilada supremas. We will be back. read more

Went here on a vacation with some family who are vegetarians. We were seated and before ordering asked about their rice which has chicken stock. The server told us we could substitute rice for black beans. Once we ordered, we asked to substitute rice for black beans and were told no substitutions. After speaking with a manager, they still did make the substitution. We paid for drinks we ordered and left to find a more vegetarian friendly spot. Well, sorta', kinda' good. Food tasty, ambience loud, and service really on the slow side. To be fair, we arrived for dinner at 6pm on Saturday night, so not unexpectedly the restaurant was crowded. Our table was close to another one, and our server seemed to have too many tables to cope with in spite of good efforts. That said, the fare was simple and tasty: the hard tacos were fresh and crunchy, the salsa delicious, the salsa not too hot, though the cheese dip wasn't quite hot enough (temperature-wise). Service is quick and friendly. Prices are reasonable and there's something for everybody on their menu. They also have a pretty extensive drink menu and very nice bar area. He went inside to grab the food. he was not greeted by a single person not even the host. six employees were standing near the front door. and all of them just looked at him at least once and did not serve him. he had to get their attention. on top of that they had attitude towards him and we're very short with him. The lady that did serve him could barely speak English and was not polite in the least. we have also eaten here before and not been served properly.
