My family celebrated my birthday at this cafe and it was amazing. This place is one of the few places which serves high quality food in Bar Harbor. It was so good that we ended visiting it twice during our stay. We tried Hunter pizza, Harvest pizza, asparagus and oysters.All of these were delicious. They have their own in house dip that comes with their pizzas which is amazing. The drinks were good too. It is a stunning location. Owners and staff are courteous and professional. Was a cool stop with fresh ingredients and a nice garden to walk around with your drinks while you wait for food. Did we come for it? No. But it's a nice healthy option if you want to lay off the butter and lobster for an evening or just want more veggies in general. I personally wasn't a fan of the customer service. The waitress looked very annoyed with our questions and had to repeat one things to us about an entree. We felt like an inconvenience and when we wanted a side or water, it was very difficult to flag our waitress down. When asking another waitress-- they also appeared annoyed. Potatoes and veggie shareables: The best it can get. You can tell the chef really put his heart into these recipes. I should have just ordered more of this. Pizza: It looks great but lacked so much flavor. It fell apart so quickly, couldn't even hold. The crust was also overly burnt. The pepperoni is "local" but way too spicy for a typical pep. They need a sauce to help cool down the spice-- I'd say ranch-- but maybe the chef can come up with one better. It was one of the worst pizzas I've had. Cocktails: Tasty and refreshing. I wasn't drinking but went with Hop water. Adding a lemon to it helped brighten it up-- surprised that's not offered. A great one time experience! read more

We arrived at 5:30 p.m. on a Friday and were told the wait would be about an hour. The host suggested we grab a drink and explore the grounds while we waited, which sounded reasonable. After an hour, I checked back and was told there were still four tables ahead of us. We didn't end up being seated until nearly two hours after we arrived. Once we were seated, our waitress let us know the pizza would also take quite a while. It ended up being another hour before our food arrived. Waiting nearly three hours from arrival to being served is simply unacceptable. From what I could see, there were only about eight staff members working, including the host, bartender, dishwasher, and servers. It was obvious they were overwhelmed and the restaurant was severely understaffed for the number of customers coming in. While I don't blame the employees they were doing the best they could the business clearly wasn't prepared to handle the crowd. It's disappointing because the property has a lot of potential, but poor management, extremely slow service, and inadequate staffing completely overshadowed the experience. Until they can properly staff the restaurant and provide realistic wait times, I can't recommend dining here. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. read more

We are on vacation in Bar Harbor and after a day of walking miles on trails in Acadia, we wanted pizza for dinner. I searched and found Sweet Pea's, and was also excited about dining outside of the usually busy downtown Bar Harbor area. This place is so charming and the food was absolutely amazing! The wood fired pizzas were devoured as well as the Plancha potatoes. We had a cheese pizza with meatballs; the Harvest; and the Hunter with a substitution of garlic olive oil for the marinara due to a tomato allergy. Everything was delicious! This farm-to-table spot has quickly become a must-visit every time I'm in the area. The setting, right next to Sweet Pea's Farm and Bar Harbor Cellars Winery, is gorgeous and relaxed. You can enjoy a drink by the fire pit and I love that I can bring my pup along on the patio. The menu changes with the seasons and the daily harvest, which keeps things fresh and exciting. Some of my favorites are the local oysters and their specialty pizzas. You really can't go wrong! Last time, I tried the lobster pizza and it was absolutely incredible. The veggies, sourced from nearby farms, are always outstanding too; I often go for the beet salad. Everything feels thoughtful, seasonal, and connected to the local food community. read more

I loved this place so much that we ate there twice while on vacation. Snag a seat outside; blankets are available on chilly nights. We sat inside on the second visit, which was nice, too. One of the best dining experiences--worth going out of your way for Sweet Pea's Café absolutely blew us away. We came with a big group of nine, and despite the no-reservations policy, they handled everything flawlessly. We arrived early in the evening and were lucky enough to snag a beautiful table right next to the garden--such a dreamy setting. Our server was incredibly attentive and sweet, making us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. We basically ordered one of everything, and there wasn't a single miss. The brisket special was a standout, and the wood-fired pizza? Top notch. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If you're anywhere near Bar Harbor, I HIGHLY recommend going out of your way to try this place. It's worth it--especially if you can sit outside and soak in the gorgeous patio and garden vibes. My bf and I came here and were so impressed by everything. We've been wanting to have a farm to table style dinner on this trip and we're excited to try this place. Upon coming there was a 45 minute wait, but we didn't mind. The property is so beautiful, we were able to order a bottle of blueberry wine and hang out on the lawn near the pond. All of the staff were very friendly as well. When we were sat we ordered some apps- we got the vegetables, beets, and meatballs. All of the food was very fresh and delicious. We really loved the vegetables, it was what we were looking for on this trip. My bf and I shared the hunter pizza, it came with kale, mushrooms, bacon and it was served with a carrot and olive oil confite. We were blown away by the flavor and the space overall. What in the actual? This restaurant is more than a restaurant. It's an experience. Wait to eat outside after enjoying the garden. The food menu is not huge but it's delicious. Was visiting bar harbor in October and I'm always on the look out for farm to table restaurant experiences.. I stumbled upon this magical place and was pleasantly surprised with one of the best dinners I've ever had. Their special was lobster grits and I ordered their seasonal veggies and warm spiked cider. Let me just say I'm a fast eater and I made sure to slow myself down to savor every bit. I was alone and brought a book to read. I'm normally nervous of going to dinner alone however, it seemed every worker made it their mission to make me feel at home and welcomed. Maybe they only hire sweet peas?? Please do yourself a favor and stop by. Oh also- went back to their coffee shop on property the morning and had great coffee and a delicious homemade blue berry muffin. Lovely restaurant attached to winery with the most charming ambiance. We had a party of 7 and were immediately seated for a late lunch (they open at 3pm) outside. There is very limited seating inside so keep that in mind if the weather isn't ideal. Pizzas were the main entree with some specials and a build your own option. My husband and I got The Ranger pizzas which was good and the beat salad special which was underwhelming. My blueberry spritz drink (local blueberry wine, brandy, soda water) was very refreshing! The pizza was good but not great. The service was terrible. My drink order arrived when we were half finished with our meal and only after I asked another waiter about it. The couple, who appeared to be the owners, were too busy chasing their kid around the restaurant to notice how poor things were running. read more

Fantastic! We ate here 2 of the 4 days that we stayed in Bar Harbor. The daily specials are absolutely out of this world.

This place should be on the list of top restaurants on the island. Though it would be hard to get a table. So for now, if you read this, consider yourself luck and go there if you are I to farm to table and a cute place to eat outside with nature yet ironically off the highway. Loved the overall farm to table concept and the grounds are beautiful. Really glad a place like this opened up on MDI! Food wise, the highlights were the pizza (get the harvest with ricotta) and the blueberry lavender cobbler. The tofu special was a bit of a miss in my opinion - flavor was decent but it needed more salt and the rice was overcooked. The Plowman pizza, fried chick peas, collar greens, plancha potatoes were uber delicious. This farm to table restaurant is so cute and dog friendly. I haven't had good pizza in the northeast yet and this is the closest to Philly Vetri's or NYC's. They told us about 40 minutes wait but ended up only 20 mins. They closed at 8pm but still take us in at 8:08 because there was a line since 7:30pm on a Weds night. Food came out hot and fast, very nice and friendly service. We haven't had a yummy dinner like this for a while, so fresh! Worth the hike and we'll be back next summer! read more

Best meal on MDI!!! This is truly farm-to-table as you are seated next to their veg garden. We started off with a local beer and the best cocktail I've ever had - the Chilled and Charred. Unbelievably good. We split the fried chickpeas as an app (perfect size to share and they were yummy!) and I had the daily special pie (katapenade, mozzarella, tomatoes and basil) and my husband who doesn't like lobster much decided to try the lobster pie and said it was out of this world. Not sure if someone didn't show up to work that night, but it was so busy and we were told our Plowman pizza was burnt / didn't arrive until 40 min after our other pizzas, but they took it off the bill which was nice. This was my favorite restaurant we visited in Bar Harbor. It was packed when we came for dinner on a weeknight (no reservations). We put our names down and waited for maybe 30 minutes before our table was ready (there's a window where you can order drinks and benches to sit). Loved that we were able to walk through the sunflower fields and take photos, but be warned, there were a lot of mosquitoes. The menu is small but mighty. They had some delicious specials too. We ordered: - Charred and Chilled cocktail? I forgot the name. (5/5) delicious and loved that they added salt on the rim - Maple Whiskey Sour? Also forgot the name. (5/5) very tasty and liked that they added rosemary from a live plant to the cocktail - Scalloped Potatoes (5/5) so good. This was a dinner special. - Meatballs (5/5) I would love to have a spaghetti or pasta dish with the sauce used in this appetizer. Please add that to the menu! - 1/2 dozen oysters (5/5) A good size! - Farm Salad (5/5) Really nice portion size. I liked the pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and dressing. - The Harvest pizza (5/5) Not a huge fan of roasted veggies on pizza usually, but wow this was good. - The Hunter pizza (4/5) This tasted a little plain but not bad! - The Ranger pizza (4/5) Not a fan of the cream sauce but not bad! - The Plowman pizza (5/5) Our favorite!
