Inside - The image shows the interior of a Mexican restaurant decorated with multicolored papel picado banners hanging from the ceiling. A woman is seated in a booth near a window, reading a menu. The restaurant features textured walls, a decorative circular wall piece, and a wooden shelf with tissue boxes and supplies. A television is mounted on the ceiling, and a large sombrero hangs on the wall near a mirror. The space has a warm, inviting atmosphere with natural light coming through the window.

Service is great, friendly and quick. I have been for lunch a couple times and the price is fantastic. Super cheap and good size portions. The food isn't fancy but it's great Mexican food. You get chips and salsa for free. Drinks are also cheap. If you are looking for quick, cheap Mexican this is the place to go!

A house margarita! - A house margarita is presented in a large, clear glass with a salted rim and a lime wedge garnish. The drink is pale yellow and appears cold, with a straw inserted. The setting includes a wooden table and a background of restaurant windows with blinds, indicating a casual dining environment.

It was okay. Margarita was listed at a higher price than what I paid. It was only $6.99. Food was okay. However, my husband ordered the chili relleno and the pepper was way too hard. Under cooked. Service was great though. Very quick! Chips and salsa were complimentary and they were great!! I ordered a side of guacamole and it was way too salty!. I gave it to my daughter, as she seemed to like it. Rice and beans were phenomenal. Very tasty. . Portions were really good. Prices were VERY reasonable. We would definitely return in the future.

Chicken and beef flautas - A yellow plastic plate holds several flautas topped with shredded lettuce and cheese, along with rice, refried beans, and chopped fresh salsa with tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. The plate is on a wooden table, with a red dish of rice and a green basket of tortilla chips in the background. The setting appears to be a casual Mexican restaurant.

This was literally the most flavorless and unsatisfying meal I've had in forever! I ordered the flautas with beef and chicken. I couldn't tell you which was which aside from the look. I thought they were made with flour tortillas and deep fried-this was flavorless corn. There were onions/peppers in with the meat that had zero seasoning. There was perhaps an ounce of meet total. Rice, beans and lettuce made up the majority of the plate. The salsa is bland and tastes more like a tomato sauce than a salsa. Both myself and my dining companion left feeling like McDonald's would have been a better choice and we love Mexican food. Do yourself a favor-you'll get more flavor at Taco Bell and that isn't saying much!

This is what they call strips of grilled steak... what a ripoff - A taco with ground beef filling and a lime wedge on top is placed inside a clear plastic container lined with foil. The taco shell appears soft and is partially folded, with the beef filling visible. The lime wedge is positioned centrally, providing a contrast in color to the beef and shell. The container is likely used for takeout or delivery.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. I placed a large to go order and felt like I got ripped off. I ordered 2 meals and 2 side tacos, asked for extra chips and salsa (one for each meal/person) but they refused. They said one per order (only 7 chips) so I guess next time my friend and I will order separately, which seems kinda ridiculous. My steak taco meal doesn't look like grilled steak strips like described in the menu, more like that shredded steak you'd get with a Philly cheese steak; and it doesn't come with lettuce, cheese, or sour cream?! The carnitas meal comes with very little meat, 3 taco shells (which were missing) but only enough meat for 1 1/2 maybe. Huge ripoff, staff was rude and drinking at the bar, false menu descriptions... definitely recommend going elsewhere

This was my first time at this Las Palapas location. It is a happening place with good staff. The house margarita is my favorite. I'm still working my way through the menu of this small chain, though I have a few favorites already. The quality is fresh, and they taste better than most Mexican food restaurants I typically go to. Next time I'm near this Las Palapas I will stop in again. We split a few small things for a light lunch and finished our plates. Should have gotten tome takeout. The manager was very nice.

Was ordered with no sour cream but came with sour cream.

We came here with our dog and there were no dogs allowed on the outside patio. So we got takeout instead of eating on the patio. The food was great so we had a vote. Me 5 stars, best chips since a restaurant in Houston,TX, my wife flavorful , 5 stars. The dog voted 4 stars. If a review mentioned no dogs we would have a different place.

Las Palapas Salad w/chicken - A salad featuring grilled chicken pieces, shredded cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and cucumber in a round aluminum foil container. The salad is placed on a speckled countertop with a blue plastic bag and a black electrical cord visible nearby.

Saw the reviews and thought Las Palapas was a good option for takeout. The order was fulfilled quick and I was excited about a speedy delivery. However upon arrival I see why it was so quick . . The "Salad" hardly came with any greens! I understand the greens shrink with hot food or liquid but this isn't the case. Also, my fiance got the chicken Fajitas and was also disappointed with the lack of flavor. It's hard finding good Mexican food in Maine but if you're looking for a fix to your craving save yourself the disappointment and skip this location.

So many people love it here so I really don't want to post a bad review. Personally, it's not for me. The food wasn't the best.

Good service, inexpensive meals and fast delivery to our table. The enchiladas were tasty and the chips were excellent.

Barliman's

I think this is a great edition to the Bangor area but they just have a few things to work on…read more Great things: Very cool speakeasy vibes. Decorated very well. Service was friendly and very knowledgeable. The drinks we got were great. Things to improve on: Priced a little high for what you get. Change the menu to much where they don't have anything on the menu you have to hear everything from the waitress which is hard to remember. We didn't try any food for the reason and for everything to be super pricey. I will be back to try again if I'm in the area, even if it's just for a drink!

On my overnight in Bangor I was at a not-great hotel but fortunately Barliman's was nearby to save…read morethe day--or rather, happy hour into dinner into nightcap, which is how it went (mind you this was right after the time change, so it was dark before 5pm and my "late night" meant I left at 8:30, lol). The vibe is chill speakeasy/library; there's a comfy bar area with tables and then a warren of other little spaces where you can hang out as well, with books and games strewn about to peruse. I love that they have a small, curated menu, which makes it easy: Maine oysters (two kinds, both awesome) got me started with a martini (well OK two martinis; friendly bartender makes them *perfectly*), and then you can extend to dinner with a few rotating options. I got lucky because whoever is making this delicious food decided that bolognese and lasagna should have a baby and be served in a piping-hot dish with some bread and salad on the side, and who could be mad about that?! (NB get some red wine with it). And they feature the fabulous Maine martini (aka Allen's Coffee Brandy, to which I have been converted), so there's your perfect nightcap. Sometimes when you go to bars with small menus the food is so-so, but not here: everything was insanely good and the perfect portion size. Who knows when I'll be back in Bangor next, but I'll definitely come here again when I am. Check it out!
