This is the far worse store in all of LA! They open at 7am, have all their shelves empty; attitude of the staff is the worse and it's never clean. Been here enough times to finally make it my last time coming. Why open at 7am if you will have all the shelves empty and then see all the pastries just sitting in the back!?! The Hawaiian Chicken was so burnt and looked dry, that I asked the staff why did the chicken looked dry and hard, she just looked at me. If I were to take a guess, they seem to be 3+ days old... It is also concerning if they were safe to consume as they were next to the window in the sun. Wonderful, light, and fresh pastries that anyone would love. I enjoyed the selection but make sure to get in early because they will run out fast. We got there around 9 AM and more than half of the pastries were already gone!!! There were plenty of cake slices and other refrigerated goods available but highly recommend to get there early. I have never had their drinks usually just pastries so I'm not familiar with their drink menu so I asked if I can request a drink with less matcha in it he said no and that's okay understandable. I got a couple pastries and a hot chocolate he gave me my receipt and turned around to go make drinks didn't even say a word. I just want to say thanks to 85 for being the only milk tea place open lol also, I'd like to shout out the hard working staff that kept things moving fast. I went to different locations of 85c and hands down this place has the most memorable interior. I felt like I'm at my local coffee shop. I came by craving for some good coffee. I usually order the Sea Salt coffee series. However, I decided to went with my gut trying out the new Vietnamese Coffee. Unfortunately it did not gave me the coffee satisfaction that I need. I think the problem with this particular menu is that they put tons of crushed ice in it. I'm left with a bit disappointment. Went in the morning today, and experienced very bad customer service. I ordered two coffee beverages, one hot and one cold. Staff gave me two hot beverages, I kindly told the lady working that the order was wrong, and she prepared me the iced beverage but in a rudely manner grab one of the hot coffees and tossed it in the trash, like not me wanting to have it with lots of anger. I ordered a strawberry deluxe cake online but when I went to pick it up a few hours later, the girl at the register said they ran out and no one saved one for me. She offered a refund or another cake in stock. I called that night and I think Eric apologized about what happened and told me to call in the morning to see if the strawberry deluxe cake would be available. When I called the next day, Jessica was so helpful and compensated me with the cake I wanted, for all of the inconvenience. I couldn't help but notice the selection was very limited, which was kind of disappointing. We ordered a mango cake. The mango toppings were almost rock hard and had to be moved from the cake before cutting the slices, not only were they hard to eat but they were also disturbingly sour. Over all our quick visit was not overwhelming and they had exactly what we wanted. However I'd probably drive further to a different location since they lack variety. read more

This bakery has lots of drinks that are excessively sugary. The bakery part is good but they are often out of stock.

Let me start by saying I truly enjoy the coffee by 85 degrees. The problem is the location, it has been now three occasions in which I order ahead and when I get to the store they do not have my order ready. I typically order an hour ahead of time since I pick up before work. I tried today to give them another opportunity and upon arrival they said they couldn't find my online order. What is the point of ordering ahead of time if their negligence in timing makes me late to work? One time I understand but three times now is unacceptable. read more

The positive is that since my usuals weren't available I had to try a different pasty. I ended up loving it. So, I was disappointed yet happy. The slice of cake was frozen. It wasn't thawed out. It clearly wasn't "fresh" so that was my biggest disappointment. The restroom was clean & the seating areas was clean as well. The hype of 85°C Bakery Cafe was unknown to me, but thanks to this addition in South Gate that's no longer the case. You can't miss one of its newest locations. If you find Sam's Club (viewable from Firestone Blvd.), you'll find 85 at the tail opposite end of the strip mall adjacent to it. The crew was very nice and helpful, constantly restocking baked goods. On a Thursday mid-morning (11/9/17), there was NO wait. CINNAMON TWIST ($1.50) - a light pastry not overdone, not overly sweet BACON & CHEESE SAVORY BREAD ($2.00) - my kiddos devoured this. I took one bite - fluffy! And cheesy without the bacon being too salty! No wonder they enjoyed it so much.
