I recently came to buy a cake for my grandmother for her birth day. I have to say this was a perfect choice for getting my cake made here. Only 95 dollars for a full sheet Napoleon cake! You know it was a good cake when everyone at the party eats the entire cake and goes back for seconds. Definitely will continue coming here when I need to buy another birth day cake. ZERO STARS FOR THIS LOCATION !!! Came in on a Monday for lunch and picked up some cupcakes, a slice of choco-flan and a slice of the tres leches mocha cake. There wasn't much foot traffic so I'm not sure how busy it gets. Maybe they have old baked goods because they just don't sell!!!! My daughter had a red velvet cupcake and it was stale and old. My boyfriend had a cookies n cream cupcake and it also tasted stale and old, especially the frosting. I didn't even want to trust the choco-flan at this point but I still did and it was also stale like it had been in the fridge for days. We had to throw everything away because it was old and stale. This location has gone downhill. I always go to the Norwalk one and haven't had any of these experiences there. The owner needs to check up on this location more often because it's not fair for us consumers to trust and spend our $ here when we literally have to just trash the food because it is inedible. More like a -5 star! This cake was ordered for a baby reveal party, while serving the cake this huge cockroach made an "appearance " for sure! The host was filled with embarrassment and disappointment. This was an incredible important gathering. We returned to the store the next day and even after showing clear proof if the disgusting cockroach appearance , the staff refused to provide us with a refund claiming the cake should have been brought back into the store for a replacement! Horrible experience, my family always get cakes from here the mil hojas cake and its been good every other time. On this particular occassion (yesterday) we found 1 hair inside the cake but closer to the edge of the cake so we thought no big deal just clear it out cut the piece around it to make sure we clear that piece out. Continue to serve the guests and not even 5 minutes later 2 people come back saying they pulled hair from their slices of cake (closer to the center of the cake). Just a heads up for everyone coming here if anything pops up in your cake per their rules 1. Take an embarrassing picture for PROOF in the middle of the party while serving guests. 2. Bring in at the very least half the cake. Extremely disappointed will never come back here again. I strongly urge everyone to go to Porto's and avoid these types of places that do everything but own their mistakes. My family is taking their business elsewhere. I ordered a cake for a very special occasion, showed them a picture, and asked if they could make a cake with the same design and color of the cake I showed them (without the part circled in black). They said yes without any hesitation. Fast forward to when I picked up the cake, I couldn't believe it. See the difference yourself (pics are attached). Kimberly was a bit rude and also let us know they can try to fix it (the top part) but that it would be my responsibility if it slid off because of the cream used. I said no because I can either walk away with a cake (even if it's not what I ordered), or I can potentially walk away with a cake that has cream sliding off of it (imagine how that would look). Manager later called me to hear me out, but ultimately refused to refund me anything, and basically backed up their work. He felt the color mostly matched the one in the picture and as far as design, he said they had offered to fix it. I explained the condition that was placed if it became worse after they tried fixing it, but it didn't make a difference. I have been coming to Candle Light Bakery since 2012 and always has been my go to bakery wether it be custom order or a last minute birthday cake surprise. They never disappointed me until the turn of 2023. The prices are just outrageous. They wanted to charge me $65 for a 10" round cake with an edible print out placed on top and with fruit and custard in the center. I was so thrown off by that I told the girl who was helping me that I was not going to pay ALL THAT for sliced strawberries in the center. Whats even even worse is that they charge more when it's just a single fruit rather than half of strawberries and half of whatever other fruit they offered. Since I requested the cake portion to be marble. The only fruit that sounded remotely enticing to go with this was all strawberries and custard but not for almost $70. That's crazy!!!! The cake was supposed to be a joke for a friend hosting a football game viewing party at her house who disliked the team her beloved 49ers were playing against. Gives a whole other meaning to, el chiste sito me salió caro. Edit: That day was a doozy just like the deal I got on this cake too. Yesterday's was my moms birthday . I hurd that these cakes were amazing so I decided to give them a whirl. I wasn't sure if I had to order one on the phone ? Or if they had any already made so I decided to show up and look for myself . I was told that they only had a few selection cakes to choose from . I was looking for a small cake that fed 3-4 people . I didn't want any of those because it wasn't what I was looking for , so she offered to customize . I chose the color, filling and bread and lettering . HOWEVER, when I went up to pick up the cake , all I received was a BLANK cake with lettering on card bord with a little decoration on the lower part of the cake with NO lid over it . Considering that we are in a pandemic, I don't think it's very sanitary to be giving these cakes with no lids . I asked if they had any lids and she seemed she was a little panicky since there was a line and said they ran out so she cut the top off. Birthdays can be a very special moment for someone. Especially after a tough year . On a positive note: the cake itself was delicious, airy and not to sweet . Will I come back to this establishment? Probably not . It was a SMALL super simple cake for 45$. !?!?!?!?! And the lady next to me got something more cuter for that price ! And BIGGER! They ripped me off. Would recommend going to the Norwalk location instead. I messed up and thought that they had the same customer service as the one in Norwalk. The cake itself was great, can't complain! You would think the employees were more knowledgeable and helpful but instead what u get, is someone who hates their job and has no energy or expertise to suggest different ideas and options. Very fancy bakery! I had the ganache cake and it was super sweet! I love their macarons as well.

I don't have much to say, but overall I just can't give this place any more stars. The first time I went for a cake pickup, there was a line of about 20+ people for placing an order and order pickup. There was only one person assisting the people in line while about 6 other employees were behind the counter. Aside from the service being sub par, the cakes are just average IMO. There's nothing special or unique about the flavor compared to other bakeries. The tres leches was the only good thing on one occasion that we went. We ordered a marble cake on one occasion and it was just vanilla and the middle portion of strawberries and bananas just wasn't good. Hopefully I can update this review in the future. read more

I bought a tres leche cake. Im not going to lie, it was delicious but the fact that we a found a whole chewed gum inside the cake really made me write this review. I called the next morning to make a complaint, all they said was "sorry" and that they couldn't give me a refund unless I brought the whole cake back to the store.
