Every guest that I've spoken to has been so nice. Sometimes you get someone unhappy & we ALWAYS try to rectify a situation. But it is not up to the usher. The issue is brought to the attention of management who handles it. In response to previous reviewer, Bre, things aren't always as reported. My understanding of what happened was she arrived late. That happens. But the show was on & attempting to communicate with the "squatters" & Bre could be disruptive to the performers. (Many places don't even allow entry while performers are actively doing their show). So they were told they had to wait for intermission but were given other seats in the meantime.

The theatre recently became part of the Spectacle Live family, which also manages the Jane Pickens Theatre in Newport, and several other performance venues across New England. We were here for Sean Healey's Celtic Christmas show earlier this week, and it was a great experience. We arrived for the 7:30 show at about 7:10 and went very quickly through the security line and the ticket checkers. AS the Brown University shooter was still at large, it was comforting to see an increased police presence at the show - The theatre is in a "good" neighborhood with no reason for extra security, but given the recent events it was great to see they were taking their patrons' safety seriously. The seats in the theatre are very comfortable and even have cup holders. It's a small to medium sized venue and there's not a bad seat in the house! It is connected to a lounge/bar, so there are plenty of drinks available that youc an take in to the concert area. Bathrooms are plentiful, and are on the same level as the seating area, and there is a large paring lot across the street behind Cranston City Hall that is free for concert goers to use in the evenings. Rolfe Square is in walking distance, with many dinner choices nearby. If you haven't been to the Park before, definitely check it out! It's a quality theatre with a great lineup of events!

The shows are great (and getting better!), they have a slew of weekly events (improv! dance dance party party!), they offer affordable classes (playwriting! acting! belly dance!), AND they are a centrally-located studio rehearsal option for other performing artists. Jingle Belles and a Few Balls, their yearly fundraiser, is a well-cherished holiday tradition in Providence: a burlesque-heavy variety spectacular with a kooky theme - what else can get you in the holiday spirit but some breasts donning glittery Santa Claus pasties? Their tagline is 'Rhode Island's Research & Development Theatre' because they are one of the only theatres in Rhode Island that present original works from nation-wide sources. That's awesome, AND I think this label often gets them unfairly dismissed as a playground for the avant-garde theatre set. Although they do a fair share of experimental stuff, I have seen some incredible, super-audience friendly performances at Perishable. I've been attending shows at the theatre for the past five years, and the quality of performances increases steadily with each season. 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', performed this past April, was seriously some of the best theatre that I have seen in Providence. The theatre is a black box with handicap access, tickets are affordable to the masses, the bathrooms are clean and spacious (there's two one-at-a-timers), and you can bring in drinks from the AS220 bar next door (bonus!). Free parking can be a pain if it's a busy night downtown, but parking behind the library is usually a good, free bet on any night of the week. The staff of the theatre is small, but VERY dedicated and includes Amy Lynn Budd - director of the theatre arts school and momma of the burlesque scene in PVD. As part of Perishable's season, Amy Lynn is presently working on the third iteration of her biographical play called 'The Thing That Ate My Brain....Almost', a wacky Ed Wood-esque horror flick/comedy detailing her experiences living with a rare and nearly-fatal genetic illness called VHL. Amy Lynn's play is a great example of the kind of the bizarrely gripping tales of humanity you'll see onstage at Perishable. From such a small budget and rather limited space comes some really well-done theatre. I would caution more conservative patrons to do some reading about a show before you attend - there is no denying that some of their work can be, well....weirder than your average community theatre. If you're looking for safe, stick to PPAC. If you're down for a little theatrics - get to Perishable!

Our party ranged in age from 16 to 83, and every single one of us had an unbelievably fun time! There were 7 actors involved in the murder show, but a few of them were scattered here and there as "plants" at various tables. They all did an amazing job of acting, even the plants who only had a few minutes of action. The two main detectives were fantastic! There was a lot of interaction throughout the show with each of the ten or so dinner tables. In fact, I was selected to assist the two main detectives as a "Rookie" detective. I leaned into the role and really really enjoyed myself! It helps if you're a "yes, and" kind of person rather than a "no, because" type. And I'd say that's true of the show overall because they frequently singled out people by asking them to stand up and answer some questions or even come up to the front of the room and act something out. The food was acceptable, and the bartended cash bar drinks were fine. The quality of the food and drinks is probably going to vary by venue. We went to the show in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI. The plot of the murder story was actually just difficult enough that you had to do some thinking to solve it. And they gave you enough clues that it was definitely solvable for a few people, including one at our table who solved the mystery of "who done it" and won their award for the best explanation! All of us in our group absolutely want to do another Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show! It's incredibly fun if you go with the right attitude!!

You will emerge into a big private dining room which doubles as the home of The Murder on Us Dinner theater. They rotate a series of different plays, and tonight, as we hit the top of the stairs, we were greeted by the perplexing sight of a coffin ! We started off with a cocktail hour, and about half way through our drinks, we heard the sound of a wailing banshee. The mourners had arrived ! We met four members of the O'Sullivan clan, and Mary Margaret who were all on hand for our play -Murder at the Irish Wake. They mingled with us in character for a half hour before we were seated, and that was a lot of fun. Scenes of the play were interwoven through the various courses of dinner - soup, salad, your choice of four pre-selected entrees (Sirloin, Salmon, Chicken, or Rigatoni, all with mashed potatoes and a medley of vegetables), a terrific loaf of fresh French bread, and a slice of chocolate cake. The play involved the mid-wake death of one of the mourners, and we had to figure out who the murderer was, how the dastardly deed was accomplished, and what the motive was. It wasn't fine dining, and it wasn't Al Pacino or Meryl Streep, but we sure had a very fun time!
