Someone was sitting in our seats that we paid $$$ for and the usher did nothing and stuck us in much worse (view/further back) seats to the right side when we had center seats 4 rows back. He should have evicted them, it was not handled at all. We asked to speak to someone and he just left us in those (not our seats). It ruined our night so far. When it was finally addressed during intermission the squatters stated they knew the were in seats they did not pay for that did not belong to them for this performance. They reluctantly exited our seats but kept Stating they could sit wherever they wanted to. No, seats are selected and paid for it is not open seating. Their rudeness and nasty comments that staff overheard but again staff did nothing at all. Basically the park theater isn't a place we'd like to visit again due to this really negative experience, we don't recommend it. The staff then allowed the squatters to continue to heckle us. Honestly those (squatters) people should have been escorted out and the Park theater manager should have compensated us-tickets to a future event or such. This was not handled well at all.

Super impressed with this place! To be fair I did get a free ticket to a show after a friend won them on the radio. The little bar is super cute and reasonably priced! The seats were very comfortable! The acoustics were pretty great too! Definitely more comfortable than PPAC!

I was invited last min fill in. But I was a pleasantly surprised it was very nice concert. The place has been there 100 years (this year yes they might have said it a couple of times) and you can tell the place has been updated recently. It was a great venue to see a band. Place was clean, seats are new and very comfortable. Bathrooms where clean and prices for alcohol wasn't crazy.

You better hope that they don't cancel a show because you won't be able to get your money back. Maybe if I contact the attorney genera.

I went to see The Lion King and it was fabulous! The theater is small enough to capture the details without binoculars or an additional screen. The music was captivating. The colors were vivid. I was excited to see that the Lion King was playing at the Providence Performing Arts Center! The theater is very easy to get to and there is a ton of parking nearby. Admissions was swift and not crowded - they definitely are organized and know how to keep the traffic moving. They sell various snacks and some are even locally made like the popcorn I bought. The venue itself is beautiful, especially the theater. The seats are as you would expect - velvety and small. The sound and lights were great. I really enjoyed the show. I will say that at times, I felt distracted - it seemed like the audience was louder than I expected - especially with the snack bags. Oh well, what can you do At intermission the women's bathroom was a little bit of a you know what. But this seems to be a common problem with older theaters. Regardless, I had a great time and would def come back to see another show!

This was one of the best performances I've seen in a long time - deeply moving, beautifully acted & emotionally resonant from start to finish. Taavon Gamble was absolutely spectacular - his performance was nuanced, captivating & left a lasting impression. The entire cast & production team brought incredible energy & authenticity to the stage, making the story feel both intimate & universal. If you see one show this year, make it Primary Trust at Trinity Repertory Company. It is the kind of theater experience that stays with you long after the curtain falls. Highly recommend.

The space is nice, laid back vibe. From entering to being helped to our seats to exiting the theatre everyone was so nice. We definitely enjoyed the show. The parking is a bit pricey and the drinks are also pricey for a small glass with more ice than drink. The selection is also limited. They have a few snacks and a small area outside the theatre room where you can sit while you wait for the show to start.. I love coming to this theatre for shows. I just wish they would work on the pricing to drink ratio

A Twisted Christmas Carol; Review Newport Playhouse Dec 1,…read more2025 Complicated. Not the play but the fact I and others, enjoying 3 days in Newport RI in a tour group, were basically a captive audience. "Dinner and a show" is how our itinerary put it. We ate a decent meal in the dining area and then all traipsed upstairs into this cozy little theatre. The stage was more than a proscenium because it projected out, bringing the actors into a more intimate relationship to the audience. (Just a note here: The seats were comfortable but the seat in front of you - seat pitch - was abysmally close. After 3/4 of an hour my knees began to hurt badly.) The play is a loose take on Dickens' Christmas Carol, with a 'Christmas past/Christmas present/Christmas future' structure. All action takes place in a small barbecue pub in west Texas. The proprietor (John Brennan), a grossly insensitive husband to his partner wife (Cass Caduto), is concerned for his business which is sliding downhill. Advice and antics from his live-in customer (Kol Daniel Cross) are scant help. The action unfolds with the help of a former employee (Rosa Nguyen) and the proprietor's former business partner (Matt Goldstein) who stole his barbecue sauce recipe years ago and has profited from it. Oh yes, that business partner is also the wife's former romantic partner, uh-oh. I could not find the author's name for this play. I suspect it was locally written by one or another of the actors or production staff. Maybe it was like a "Oh, we gotta put something together for our Christmas show" collaboration. The script produced a few jarring moments, as when the proprietor who has been in an accident and comatose in the hospital being visited by Christmas ghosts suddenly returns in full health. But the actors clearly enjoyed putting this on. The audience laughed and I think had fun watching although a few may not have had much experience with live performances. At the conclusion they started to leave and were surprised when the actors came out for a curtain-call bow. Ouch!

We were a little bit late and arrived about 15 minutes before the show and somehow managed to get the last 3 seats together.
