My husband and I went to village house coffee for an early Valentine's Day date and had a great…read moretime! I love when places offer flights to try different drinks. I ordered the winter flight with the specialty coffees at the time. One of them was a Christmas flavor that had just finished and they would substitute any flavor I wanted. There are so many options to choose from but the staff was wonderful and asked me a few questions and gave me a couple of other suggestions as a substitute and it was my favorite in the end! Everyone was so friendly and the establishment makes you feel at home. I loved all of the pictures of everyone around the place. It made it feel very homey and inviting and showed how everyone there is like a family. We enjoyed our coffees and time relaxing there! We also got my daughter a caramel cider on our way out and she said it was the best she has ever had.... We would highly recommend this local coffee shop! I look forward to going back again! I wish I had taken more pictures. I had not originally planned on doing a review or I would have taken more. I love using Yelp for information and decided I wanted to make sure I helped get the word out about this local place a little later or I would have had more pictures of how cost and homey it is!!

Cute little bakery and my family was happy I brought them some snacks home from our vacation. Woman was amazingly nice.

I'm particularly vulnerable to the "I'm-famished-and-my-blood-sugar-is-dropping-so-I'm-just-going-to-bitch-and-complain-until-you stop-doing-what-you're-doing-and-make-me-pancakes" phenomena. If I don't get what I want when I want it, I'm an angry god. (The great tornado of 1974? My mom burnt my grilled cheese sandwich and I had to wait while she slapped together another.) Sexy Beast is a formidable adversary who refuses to bend to the will of a lesser deity, so I often find myself on a scavenger hunt for a carbohydrate sacrifice while he peruses a humidor or flaps his yap at somebody about his latest commandment or something. That's how I ended up with a box of the most delightful, lovely little lemon cookies ever baked, anywhere. Ever. I wandered into this brightly colored storefront while Sexy Beast was a few doors down (at Kaiser's) and was offered up a brilliant smile and a chipper greeting. The case was filled with sugary manna but my eye was drawn to the ribbon bedecked colorful confections. They were almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The cookies were delicate and light and perfectly sweet with just enough lemon flavor to identify but not so much that it overwhelmed the very obviously real butter and love that went into them. The natives of New Albany were spared the tumult of a hurricane or an erupting volcano thanks to Rookie's Cookies. Y'all might want to thank someone with a goat or a bottle of champagne or something.

We love the variety of delicious flavors available, but it's difficult to stray from something so obviously consistently delicious. Service is always friendly and helpful with welcome input as to recommended items and also educational. Cafe is quaint and cozy with a nice atmosphere to linger for a while without feeling rushed. Looking forward to return visits.

Boba shop... where East meets West [New Albany IN]…read more Unlike in California we seem to have a boba shop in every corner. We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. As far as the drinks we both love smoothie or blended drinks and sadly they did not offer this... hopefully, they can add this option to their menu in the future. Instagram: @mochi_wren Review #3879
