We had some time to spare after lunch today so we stopped by Berry Twist ice cream on Paoli Pike in Floyds Knobs. We ordered at the window and sat on the patio. Service was fast and friendly as always. We each got a small cone / mine was chocolate, his vanilla. Both were great, but a small cone there holds a LOT of ice cream for $3.39 each. These were probably 8" tall from base to tip! They have two smaller sizes (small and junior). I'll be scaling mine back next time. You can scale up too! Berry Twist is family friendly and well attended. They have all sorts of ice cream treats including the cones, shakes, sundaes, ice cream 'nachos' and much more. I was so excited to try this place. I wish I hadn't gone there now. We ordered several different items from menu. What we observed was the staff continuously handing strong the wrong order with the right ticket number. So essentially someone else was breathing on your order before you received it. They did not remake one item. They simply took them back and then called the next number to hand them that same item. I can't make this up. I consistently give grace to businesses due to worker shortage, however this place had plenty workers and one in particular had a very rude demeanor. She tried to hand me the wrong order to which I replied that's not my order. She insisted that's what I ordered, which I asked how did she know that since she didn't take my order. Turns out she was handing me someone else's ice cream. Another worker walked up and asked what I ordered and I showed my receipt to her. She then handed me the correct item. And to top it off my nephew was with me and they had no lids for his banana split. They took his sundae back and placed it into separated containers. The service was just so distasteful that I threw mines away. I will NEVER be back at this establishment ever. The worst service I've experienced in a long time. Just sad. read more

Berry Twist isn't as good as it used to be and we recently threw our $15 frozen treats in their trash can. The menu has always been a little confusing, but now they don't tell you what's-what when you order so you get a surprise or they simply get it wrong, then shrug and tell you it-is-what-it-is. We have to ask for a receipt as well as napkins even tho it's obvious that we're being handed desserts that are either dripping or a sticky mess. Finally, we've noticed over the past several visits that Berry Twist has a very chemical taste to their ingredients. This is not a specific review, but rather a compendium of experiences we have had at Berry Twist for several years now. We live not far from this neat little place, and, to be honest, I was not a huge fan early on, preferring some of the more "off the beaten path" ice cream stands. But Berry Twist has increasingly won my heart with their wide variety of ice creams, quick and expedient service, and EXTREMELY polite staff. You can go to BT any time of day and no matter who is taking your order they are impeccably well-mannered, friendly, and gregarious. This is a MAJOR high point, in my mind, because I have been to other ice cream shops where the service was not up to this standard, so, BT, PLEASE don't change this about yourself, and we, in return, will always be BIG FANS! That said, the ice cream, whether you opt for a cone, shake, malt, etc, is always fresh and delicious. There are some flavors that are more dazzling than others but that is to be expected. Edit ---- we went back again recently and the service was improved and my order was quick and correct. The parfait I ordered was exactly what I wanted. I'm glad things have improved and I will be back. I ordered a strawberry soda and the girl entered it as a strawberry sundae. My wife ordered a grape slushee. When they called our order they said the slushee machine was not working right and it would be a few more minutes. When they called our number again my strawberry soda was now a Pepsi. I tried to ask them what it was and they already closed the window. I had to knock and explain I wanted a Strawberry soda, not a Pepsi. The girl apologized and said they had some new girls working that didn't know what they were doing. I was pretty much over waiting (it had been over 20 minutes and they were not very busy). Been twice in past week to buy medium Oreo Arctic Swirl.... disappointed both times. Seems you guys aren't blending the middle of the swirl, all I got was a BIG chunk of vanilla ice cream and no real Oreo taste both times I bought the swirl.... Oh, how I LOVE Berry Twist! What a local, mom and pop kind of stop with an extensive menu. There's anything from bananas splits, to sugar-free and fat-free yogurt, to chocolate dipped bananas, to milkshakes, to artic swirls which have ice cream and candy mix ins - YUM! They are reasonably priced. Throughout the summer, they are BUSY! I never pass by Berry Twist without seeing people there. Recently, I waited over 25 minutes on a Friday night in the drive thru. I was a little upset, as they weren't apologetic by any means, however, they are typically as timely as possible. With that, keep in mind peak hours of when you're heading there and how large your group is. Additionally, they have a nice seating area outside of the order area, and then quite a few tables in the lawn area. With new owners, they have made strides to keep the tradition of BT alive and have delivered. Complimentary pup cups so bring your dog up to the menu, or they'll allow you to take it back home to your pup!! I was back in Floyds Knobs for a Floyd Central Alumni function and over the course of a 3 day weekend trip, we visited Berry Twist 4 times. Flavors were Blackberry Sherbet the first days and Lime Sherbet the last day. Follow them on twitter to get regular updates. Tutti-Fruiti sherbet was my favorite growing up there, but it was very rare to find. Cones come in small, medium, and large - but a warning - cones are the same size, it's the swirl height that changes - more ice cream in other words. I like culvers better but it is a little further away. Prices seem reasonable but I think I would rather go to Kroger and get Ben and jerrys. Service was good and girls were very pleasant.
