White pizza.
Jahmelia B.

This was my first time at this location. I was smitten with my experience at the other location and was hopeful for a repeat. Sadly lighting did not strike twice in this scenario. We ordered take out and was told it would take 10-15 minutes. The order took nearly 45 minutes . I ordered a red cheese pizza, a white cheese pizza and chick pea salad. The pizza crust was good. It's a thin crust with the perfect amount of crispness to it. Things went downhill from there. The cheese was burnt. Very burnt. The flavor profile was nonexistent and the sauce was just ok. The chick pea salad was delicious. I was underwhelmed by this experience and won't return here.

Red pizza with sausage and spinach

This review is just based on their red pizzas! I would love to come back and try other things on their menu. 8 1/2 is a super charming takeout Italian spot. It's ideal for warm days so you can take your food to picnic in Scuffletown. I've only ever ordered a red pizza here with toppings when I've visited. I had a blast doing this once with my mom and partner. This week, I decided to spend my lunch break with a friend having pizza. We ordered a red pizza with spinach and sausage. Our bill came out to about $26. It took about 35 minutes for the pizza to be ready so we went on a walk while we waited. There were about three seats to sit at too if you prefer to wait in the restaurant. When our pizza was ready, they offered us napkins and red pepper flakes. We took our pizza to the park to enjoy! It's nice to see how fresh the pizza's are. It's slightly greasy, but thin crusted. 8 1/2 also has a lot of delicious Italian pantry goods for purchase as well as wine. It's a pretty small space on the customer end, which is fine for a takeout spot! If you don't mind that things are on the pricier side, this is a nice spot to get take out for a scuffletown picnic.

Pepperoni Pizza

3.5 stars. I'm on the search for the best pizza in Richmond, so wanted to give this place a try! Mostly because i've had the pleasure of smelling their pies every time I pass to get some scoops ice cream. Once inside, this place is solely for takeout. There possibly might've been a chair, but I cant be 100% sure. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with arugula salad to take home. Pizza was about ~$17 I think. Pizza was that thin, more Neapolitan style that I usually like. Flavor was pretty good. Arugula salad was just that. A take out box of arugula which made me feel a little silly for ordering. I think if you rank it among take-out places, it's a good pizza. But for the how overpriced it is and the fact that you don't really have the option to sit there and eat it, I think i'm still on the search for a better pie in Richmond! I might come back to try some of their other items though.

Calzone, i added my own seasonings on top bc of how bland it was, but didnt help much

Disappointed and Overpriced - Worst Calzone We've Ever Had We were really excited to try this place because of all the high reviews, but were sorely disappointed. I ordered the calzone, which set me back $20, and honestly, it wasn't even that big. The biggest letdown was the filling--it was absolutely stuffed with ricotta and barely had any mozzarella. When I cut into it, there was zero cheese pull, just a bland, flavorless mess of ricotta. The marinara sauce that came with it was delish, but it was way too oily imo. The bread had an okay taste, but the texture was a huge fail--it was soggy and soft, not crispy at all. It seriously felt like it had been microwaved. Given how busy the restaurant was when I arrived, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened. I don't understand how this place has such high ratings. This was hands down the worst calzone I've ever had. I plan on reaching out to the restaurant to see if they'll make this right, because $20 for this was just ridiculous. Edit: We reached out to the restaurant, the manager was very polite, understanding, and listened to my concerns, which i greatly appreciate, and he refunded the order

I've been coming to 8 1/2 for over 12 years and it's always wonderful. Anything you try, it's going to be amazing! The pizzas are incredible and I'm obsessed with the arugula salad. I didn't get the lasagna this time, but that is also absolutely delicious. give it a try!!

I got the Crunchwrap and my partner got the desi noodles. Crunchwrap was decent but there were no tomatoes, or lettuce, or sour cream ;could have been good if it came with everything - the vegan chorizo was good. Desi noodles were overcooked, and the stir fry mix veggies tasted like freezer burn other than it was tolerable. Free water which is nice in theory but it tasted like cold hose water with extra metal. We hated the water so much so we thought to order a pink lemonade which costs me $9??? .......and it was awful. It was so sugary and again tasted like the same awful tap water from earlier. Basically kool aid. Overall spent $84 bc we bought a mug to support, but sadly we're disappointed. The kitchen looks dirty when you take a glance at it from the window. The environment is cluttered, no cohesiveness or structure. Air feels stuffy and floors look like they could be cleaned better. There's a dirty couch you can sit on if you like that sort of thing. Art on the walls for purchase which we like. This place has potential and I don't mean to tear it to shreds or sound harsh. But this is not the sort of establishment that reflects their amazing website. They could do better and I hope to come back when it happens. It's a cafe with an espresso bar and pastries?...But it's a restaurant with elevated multicultural vegetarian dishes? And theres a rack of clothes by front door?? And vending machines??? Stick to fusion. Do it better. Ditch the coffee bar. Pour more attention into the multicultural vegetarian menu that has amazing potential. Teach the kitchen the proper menu. Get rid of the stage and dirty couch. There are beautiful Diwali decorations by the window MORE OF THAT!!!!!

Craving pizza on a week night, I was out doing shopping in Willow Lawn, and decided to give &Pizza a try! It's a "choose your own ingredients" kind of layout similar to Chipotle, I love how they bake the pizza right in front of you. Let me just say all the ingredients are fresh and the crust was perfect, not too doughy but not super thin. I've since been back three times including the second location in the fan, great customer service and atmosphere at both locations, I always order my same go-to! We opted for the Lil Roni pie and the "Hot in Here". It was close to 11 PM, our order was placed, food cooked and delivered so fast! I was really impressed... And completely satisfied with the pizzas. Both pies were hot, fresh and delicious. Lil Roni is great for the pepperoni lovers out there. The Hot in Here pie is spicy hot. They're not lying. I like spicy food, have a high tolerance, but I was shocked at how spicy they prepare this thing. Still, I liked it. I skimmed over the ingredients when ordering and didn't even notice it's a vegan pie with some plant based "chicken" on it. That part was a little strange and it was somewhat rubbery, but whatever. Overall, I was very pleased and we scarfed it all down. Bellies were happy!

The pity stars they received didn't justify for the fact that it was just bad. The mix of flavors are all over the place and the prices for a fast food chain are a bit high. They charge $7 for a burrito and if you would like to add on chicken, tofu, or falafel it is another $2 and beef is $3. Then you get the burrito, I was told that it is a large burrito and when I think large and for as long as they took to make, the burrito would be the size of a chipotle burrito. It comes out, and it is 1/3 the size, and for having a really short line it was pretty disappointing. On to the burrito, it looked pretty and that was the other reason for getting one star. Taste wise, they mixed too many flavors trying to make a tex mex burrito into an asian fusion / vegan place. Ultimately, it was a disappointment to see a healthy option that was poorly executed. They should really consider optimizing their process so patrons don't have to wait as long, focus on making the flavors balance/complement each other and not over power each other, and lastly why the heck do I have to pay extra for meat. $10-12 bucks for a horrible burrito makes me want to walk the 4 blocks to chipotle to get something that I know will be 100x better.
