    Lamb kebab platter (23.99)
    Victor G.

786 Kabob House opened a year ago where Cafe Gyros was. Interior looks similar with slight changes-2 flatscreens on either side. Panels overhead behind the counter shows the menu. An outside covered area at the side has been added with much more seating. Lots of parking in big parking lot. I ordered at the counter, pd, got food in 14ish minutes. Cooked to order. Only a few patrons came in after me post lunch. Offerings (Afghan): appetizers, drinks, salad, rice, Traditional dishes. Bites: lamb kabob platter (23.99) -2 long metal skewers with 12 petit lamb pieces juicy & moist. Not greasy. -dab of cold salad with fresh purple cabbage, sliced cucumbers & tomatoes sans dressing. Deliz. -small piece of lukewarm Afghan flatbread. -lots of fluffy, long grain basmati rice with some scented herbs. Smelled pleasant. *was unable to finish small amounts of food due to stomach issues, maybe the flu. 3.5 stars semi-worthy:YMMV. Quality: pretty fresh. Lamb grilled to order. Rest premade. Quantity: underwhelming. Doubtful repeat.

I have completely changed my opinion of this place. The food is most authentic of northern Afghanistan Qabuli pilaf (Pallow). The lamb kabob reminded me of the kabobs sold in Kabul by the main Central Park, same taste and smell. The lamb was not lamby as it can be a turn off. The Bolani was served fresh and crispy. While the place is small, and not suitable for large gatherings, you can get a group of 8 to sit outside under enclosed tarpped area. The service can be better. Staff is learning.

Chicken kabob (ignore the fact I already eaten the salad)

The chicken was delicious and tasty. It was not dry at all. The man was extremely nice and convinced me to stay in to eat versus to go as it tastes better staying in. I love how friendly he was and offering tea. Overall, I will come back next time I'm in the area. Unfortunately, I don't live in the state.

Good food and delightful service. I ordered the combination kabob with no rice. It came with a skewer of beef and a skewer of chicken with Afghani bread and salad. I asked for some sauce and they gave me yogurt and chutney.

We came to 786 Kabob House to celebrate my birthday with my husband. We had called ahead to order the Mahicha Palaw, but by the time we arrived, the meat was already sold out. The staff was very nice and made it up to us with great service. We tried the Palaw, and it was delicious full of flavor and perfectly cooked rice. Even though the Mahicha was out, we really appreciated how kind and accommodating the staff were. We'll definitely be back to try it next time!

We went for their new breakfast menu and it was delicious. We ordered the platter for 2 and got the eggs and halal sausage, it came with bread, cheeses, jams, olives, honey, tea, and few other sides that make a traditional Afghan and Turkish breakfast. We also had their haleem and it was not too sweet but perfect and topped with cinnamon. We loved it, we ate everything!

    Too oily and salty
    Syed A.

The food was very bad, especially the baloney. It's too salty. The oil was not right. I will not come here again never in my life to spend mine here. Where do I have a food? Everything on the menu they don't have it. What kind of restaurant is this that you're running? Here

Inside bolani with what appeared to be tarnished potatoes rather than garam masala.

When seated after ordering, we were served with the signature Afghan bread with delicious spicy dipping sauce. The owner I presume also introduced us to two lovely dishes. One with potato in a flat bread and the other was a butter nut squash. They were both served with a creamy yogurt. My wife and I ordered the trio Kabob and the eggplant dish. Highly recommended. The meats are so tender! Out of all the Persian places I have experienced the chicken at this establishment is the best! The beef even more! The dessert was heaven... We got the potato bolani and platter of the chicken kebab and chapli kebab to share. The potato bolani was my favorite, but the chapli kebab didn't have much flavor. The chicken was decent and paired well with the rice. My favorite items were definitely the bolani and chutney. At the end of our meal, they offered us a complimentary dessert of rose-flavored pudding with crushed pistachios. Overall, a 3.5 for food. I would definitely come back for the bolani. Please note parking can be quite difficult since it's in a small plaza so expect to parallel park in the neighborhood.

The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor dining. They have an ATM on-site. The dining room has been slightly remodelled since my last visit. Started off with the mantu and they were excellent. The portion was gigantic and perfect for sharing. Loved how crispy this came out, along with the side of yogurt. The eggplant dip was also quite tasty and complemented the Afghan bread quite well. The chapli entree with brown rice was excellent. The rice was super fragrant while the chapli was super juicy and flavorful. Excellent entree. They were a little disorganized, but the decor and vibes were very homey. Their portions are fairly large, and overall the food was pretty decent, although not all of the dishes were my cup of tea I will say. This was my first time having Afghanan cuisine, so take what I say here in my review with a grain of salt. I rounded up because the food was pretty tasty and filling, but wasn't super impressed by the overall experience. So, to me, flavor and quality of the food is more important than the overall experience with the staff and vibes of the space. I would have given a 3.5/5 if I could. Food: 4/5 A friend mentioned that this is his family's go to spot for some of the most authentic Afghan food, so this is what I am basing the rest of this review on. We ordered Triple Kabob Murgh, Teka and Chaplee Kabob, Quabili Pallow, Mantu, Aushak, Sabzi Challow, Kado Borani, and Doogh. The kabob meats were all seasoned differently and were very tender, but everything else had a very similar palate to each other. Everything was fairly tasty, and the lamb wasn't too gamey, which I appreciated. If you try the Doogh yogurt drink, know that it is sour and an acquired taste, my friends said it wasn't good until they ate some food along side it. Staff/Space: 3.5/5 The staff wasn't the most friendly nor did they really come to check on us. The guy just took the order and brought our order and that was the only real interactions we had with the staff. The space in general was super homey and very much set for cozy family vibes. There is a decent amount of space inside and outside to accommodate for various party sizes. There is only street parking, which is not super convenient.

Everything was delicious and fulfilling and I was surprised on the size of the skewers and pieces of meat and shrimp. They definitely don't skimp out and give a good amount of protein. I enjoyed dipping my meats in this green sauce that was provided on our table--it added a nice spicy kick to my overall meal. The rice was seasoned well, meat was cooked to a perfect medium and wasn't overcooked, chicken wasn't dry, shrimp was great too, and the bread was nice and soft. As for the appetizer, I'm not sure what everything was, but everything on that plate was so good. I'm not a fan of lamb, but the items on the chef's platter were good and didn't have that lamb aroma and taste--I wouldn't even think it was lamb lol. But the one that stood out to me the most was the eggplant which was prepared well and I enjoyed the meat sauce that was drenched on top. This restaurant had a warm environment--white table, nice candlelit dinner, and fast service. Great for a date night or family dinner.

This time, my camera ate before I did, ha! Here is a breakdown of what we ordered on this visit: 1. Steamed Chicken Momo: These were perfectly moist with an adequate, well-seasoned filling. Plus, their signature orange sauce never disappoints! 2. Mixed Fried Rice: This came loaded with eggs, chicken, and veggies. Unlike some places where the veggies feel like an afterthought, these tasted fresh. The portion size was great, flavorful and more than enough for two people. 3. Chicken Sizzler: There is nothing like hearing that loud sizzling sound when food is brought to your table! I initially expected it to come with fries and veggies, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it served on top of a huge bed of noodles. It was incredibly tasty. My only minor critique is that the menu just lists the name of the dish without a description. While I could have asked, it would be helpful if the menu explained what the sizzler entails, especially since their other menu items have descriptions. The Perks & Ambiance: Free Tea: A wonderful touch! They offer free, unlimited aromatic hot tea for dine-in customers, served in cute little espresso cups. Service & Seating: There is plenty of seating available. The service is prompt, though you might occasionally need to wave them over to get their attention, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker.
