Triple Kabob: Murgh, Teka and Chaplee Kabob 10/10
    Kati V.

Had a girls' date here, and it was my first time having authentic Afghan food. Wow!!! I was so blown away. Afghan food is highly underrated and not talked about enough. The service was excellent, but the food was incredible, and to be told that it was better before (the establishment is under new management), I can't imagine it being better. Actually, I've had home-cooked meals since, and yes, it can be better, haha, but that's not to take anything away from this restaurant. What a Gem, and an honor to have sat in the same restaurant as Andrew Zimmern! The restaurant lived up to its authentic culture design and was pleasant. We ordered several dishes! I wanted to try them all haha! Triple Kabob: Murgh, Teka and Chaplee Kabob 10/10 Potato Bolani / Leek Bolani 10/10 Bread 100/10 Mantu 10/10 Shor Nakhod 100/10 my favorite soooo good! Everything was delicious! We've gotten takeout a few times and it's also been just as good!

Got the biggest potato bolani I had ever seen. The kabob, rice, and eggplant were all so yummy! Our server was chill. The outdoor seating is so lovely!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a tasty experience. Parking was available on the street or right behind the restaurant. Dining is available indoors or on their patio. Started off with their mantu and it was tasty. The dumplings were delicately prepared with meat inside and topped with tasty yogurt. Excellent. The leek bolani was also excellent. It was a gigantic portion with plenty of leaks inside. Super flavorful too. The chapli entree was gigantic and perfect for sharing. The brown rice was flavorful. The chapli was juicy and slightly spicy. Excellent. Staff were courteous throughout the meal. The dining room was slightly remodeled a few years ago and is starting to be long in the tooth...perhaps it's cultural. $2 fee for credit cards. ~$20/head after tax, gratuity with plenty of leftovers for lunch.

LAMB REDO When I originally wrote a review for this place I mistook it for the kabob house at the next corner so I deleted this review. About months ago I ate here for lunch with my family. I love lamb because I don't eat it at home often. When the opportunity came to order lamb kabob here I will order it. My sister ordered bolani as a starter. I've ordered bolani at the kabob house at the corner in the past. I remembered the bolani at the kabob house was oily. The bolani my sister ordered was wasn't oily but toasty. I enjoyed the bolani. When I ate the lamb kabob something didn't taste right. Initially due to the texture I thought the lamb was spoiled. Then after few more bites the problem wasn't the lamb but the marinade seasoning, which had a pasty taste. The coating from the marinade was sticky. Due to the texture I had a difficult time finishing the lamb kabob. Due to the dish I ordered I wasn't sure If I would go back to eat at De Afghanan Cuisine anytime soon. My mom wanted to eat here again. I came back to De Afghanan Cuisine this past Sunday for lunch. I knew I wasn't going to order kabobs as I wanted to try something new. I looked at the items for the rice specialties section of the menu. Both items included lamb. One item quabili pallow included raisins and I don't like raisins. The second item was sabzi challow. I didn't know what to except. When I first tasted the sabzi challow it made up for the lamb kabob I ordered about three months ago. The lamb was moist yet not gamey. The lamb submerged in spinach reminds me of the Hawaiian dish lau lau, which is chunks of meat wrapped in ti leaves and steamed. Unlike the lamb kabob I can order the sabzi challow with lamb again when I come back here to eat. Even though this place is known for its kabob the sabzi challow with lamb is the best dish at De Afghanan Cuisine. I'm glad about my mom's craving for kabobs that I ate at De Afghanan Cuisine for another time. If I didn't my rating would've been lower.

Needed a vegan dish for a Friday no meat lent gathering & was craving Bolani. First time ordering here and it was was so so. -Yelp app ordering no # to call but ordering on the app was so convenient. -Parked on peralta at a neighboring business lot since Fremont blvd is hard to find street , was a quick pick up so I hope they didn't mind - Cozy restaurant, handful of seats inside with a very warm fireplace blazing inside, was a rainy day so very inviting, few outdoor tables available also - pick up took time as waited for someone to help me then when employee was getting my order ready, he got a phone order, had me wait while he took Order then hand me my order to go -Bolani tasted ok, I chose leeks but did not see potatoes which I thought was standard. Overall, would possible come back again to dine in but will be on the hunt for another place that makes Bolani

This place is awesome. Their Kabobs are delicious, I recommend the combination to try different meats. The Bolani with Leek was wonderful, and I also liked their Sabzi spinach dish. Food was excellent, service was efficient. Clean and cozy inside, great for small groups. Parking and GPS maps can be a little confusing. There is parking off street behind the restaurant.

Lamb kabob...meh. It was dry and a bit overcooked.

Hadn't been here in a long time. Ordered the lamb kabob (should have ordered the beef kabob). The lamb kabob was just okay, barely any seasoning on the lamb, it was dry and a bit overcooked. I thought there would be some kind of sauce besides the tomato relish but they only pointed to the green sauce on the table. So disappointed.

The food here is always amazing!! Staff is very friendly. The inside is small and cozy but there is outdoor seating as well. I ordered the triple skewer plate which comes with rice and cucumber salad - sooo delish! Its even better when you add the sour cream

First, I liked the building and art throughout. It was very cultural, and it seemed to be very popular. The ambiance was casual. The folks both in the restaurant and running it are super nice. We were offered to try an item by a table next to ours, for example. As for the food, you need to know that the bolani are a favorite that are quite nicely spiced. They do go very very light on spices, especially salt. The deserts were outstanding. The Doogh was similar to the Indian chaas. We will be back to try again.

The bodinjon borani (roasted eggplant) was amazing. The butternut squash bolani was delicious as well, I loved the chutney. I'll try the leek one next time. The lamb kabob was flavorful but a little dry, I would give it another chance though. I would try the chicken or beef next time though. Service was great. We sat outside and it was a nice patio.

Still an amazing Afghan restaurant in Fremont. I'll continue to come here whenever I'm in the area, and crave it when I'm away!

The ground sirloin kabob (which was actually a patty) was awesome. Extremely flavorful and moist. The teka kabob (beef) had good taste, but was a little overcooked and dry. This place is a hole in the wall, that I would not have ever gone to, but was in the area and a friend met up with me and took me here. It was the middle of day for lunch, so it wasn't busy, but it was a little slow on the service side. My friend has a triple combo which also included chicken. The chicken was moist and tasted good. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely get a slab of the chaplee kabob/patty again!

Does this place have take out? I tried calling and no one picks up

Yes, I placed a pickup order on September 2024

Is this place halal? I don't see any certifications for it being halal?

There is now a large sign at their sister store next door stating it is halal from Harris Ranch. The owner confirmed to me that they serve only halal meat at all their locations.

    Is indoor dining available?

If Alameda County allows it I am sure they will do limited indoor dining.

What are the vegetarian or vegan options? Having trouble opening their menu online..... Is the veg option worth a visit specifically or is it more of an accommodation...... Thanks much Yelpers

There are certainly vegetarian options, not sure about vegan.

My go-to is the triple kebab (which you can customize), and I'm partial to their shami (ground beef), chicken, and chapli (beef patty). The meat is succulent and incredibly well-seasoned, with the shami being a standout...definitely the kind of dish you don't judge by its cover! This dish is served on a bed of rice and small salad. The rice is cooked well. I have also tried several of their appetizers, and my favorites are the samosas and borani banjan (eggplant), though the bolani are also great, and the serving size is enough to feed a small army. The samosas are a nice departure from traditional samosas I am accustomed to, especially at India restaurants. The ones here are large, flatter (almost like an empanada), and not the slightest bit greasy. You can tell they make these fresh. The banjan have a nice acidity and a tasty cream/tomato sauce they are tossed within. The bolani can be prepared with either leeks or potatoes (or ask for a combo!) and are served with a cream dipping sauce. I feel that everything here is a good value, with the triple kebab coming in at $25, and the appetizers all coming in at $10-$15. You will not leave hungry.

The inside from my guess seats about 40 people max but seems that they may receive more takeout orders. I appreciated the chicken serving on the Grilled Chicken Salad but, there was definitely not enough greens. I also feel that red onion would've leveled up the salad. The chicken was not dry at all. The beef kabob was tasty however, the meat serving sizes for the kabob plate was quite small.

This is clearly something the owner does because a few reviews below someone else mentioned her review was flagged and taken down. THE OWNER/MANAGER IS NOT A HONEST PERSON. The owner of this establishment contacted Yelp to remove my original review, claiming my experience was not legitimate. I am reposting my review with screenshots showing that | placed an online pickup order and visited the restaurant. The photos are timestamped from 2/3/2026. Transparency matters, and attempting to discredit a real customer experience instead of addressing it reflects poorly on the business. Flagged Content: Order: Chicken Shawarma Plate Total: $17.55 Location: 217 W Winton Ave, Haywara, CA 94544 I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. The food was not good at all. The chicken was clearly not fresh--it tasted old and seemed like it had been reheated in the microwave, possibly from a day or two earlier. The side dish with garbanzo beans also tasted old. The pita bread was cold and not even warmed, which shows a lack of care. The service was just as bad. When I arrived, the front door was locked even though the restaurant states it opens at 11:00 AM. I arrived around 12:35 PM. A gentleman eventually came to open the door. When I told him my name and that I was there for a pickup order, he seemed completely confused. A young lady then stepped in and asked about my order, and I had to show her proof that I placed it online. Apparently, my order was not in their system despite my confirmation. She told me my food would be ready in three minutes. I was on my lunch break, and there was no apology for the door being locked or for my order not being ready. I ordered ahead specifically because I was on a time limit. The fact that it was ready in "three minutes" made it very clear that the food was reheated rather than freshly made. The ambiance was also unpleasant. The restaurant has large chandeliers trying to appear elegant, but it doesn't work. Chairs were stacked on top of tables, so dining in wasn't even an option. There was also a strong smell of floor cleaner throughout the restaurant, as if they were trying to cover up another odor. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The food quality, service, and overall experience were very disappointing. This was a waste of money. I ended up throwing the food away because I was worried about food poisoning and didn't have time to return it since I was on my lunch break. I will not be coming back.
