After reading all of the bad reviews I asked some girlfriends to join me at the rooftop bar for drinks last night. It was a scorcher but the fans were on as were the "misters"(?). First impression was that the place was so not ghetto and people were dressed in casual clothes not street attire or like they had just stepped out of Orange Theory and a :45 minute work out. Second impression was that the young ladies that waited on us had little to no clothing on which did make it more like an expensive Hooters or Twin Peaks than a nice bar. Overall this place is after all a bar that serves appetizers not a five star restaurant that serves drinks. It's not a cheap bar and the drinks are poured well so I do like to know that when I feel like stepping out and stepping up a little that there is a place where having some class makes a difference. Whatever the argument about "dress code" is I just suggest that before going to a new place call ahead and ask if there is a dress code. We found our experience to be pleasant, fun, and affordable. I will probably wait for Fall to revisit because I really wanna see the fireplace on. Cheers all y'all! read more

Drinks were fine but the service was horrible. Waited over half an hour for our hookah and asked for a new coal after about 45 minutes and never got it (waited another half hour). This place used to be my go-to and I went here all of the time, but after my last experience I don't think I will return any time soon. I went last Thursday evening, and the place wasn't that busy. My husband and I was able to get a seat fairly quickly, and we watched multiple waitresses stand around and at one point 2 waitresses even pointed over to us ( I guess they were deciding who would take care of us) and then they walked away. The same 2 waitresses walked by us multiple times but never stopped. After being there about 35 minutes, a waitress finally walked over. I asked her for a beer, hookah, and for some napkins or something to clean up the disgusting mayonnaise mess that was all over our table. 10 minutes later I received my beer, but still no napkins or hookah. 20 minutes later and I finally stopped the waitress and told her to get me the check so I can get the hell out of here. I've never in my life seen such poor customer service. I WAS a regular here, not sure if I will be anymore. I sat at this place for over an hour and still never got the damn mess cleaned off of our table or a hookah. read more

This place has a nice atmosphere however they have an issue with customer service. We went to this place after receiving amazing service at The Park which is also in The Domain (I suggest you go there and ask for Dianna), and 3 people out of our party of 7 ordered the drinks and hookah that we had. We went to the bar at one point and the bar tender kept closing our tab despite us telling her to leave it open and eventually she opened a new tab with a bottle of water. When we were leaving, 1 of the 3 who were paying for our party went to close her tab (the tab with only water) and the bar tender refused service even though she wasn't asking for it. My cousin told them she was only paying the tab but was then told she owed for a hookah (which was awful and cheap yet WAY overpriced) and 5 drinks that she did NOT order. Rather than checking with the rest of us for payment, she was accused of being drunk and not wanting to pay the tab. Meanwhile I was still in our section and didn't understand why my family members were saying we'd been kicked out. So, as the DD and responsible party for my group, I asked for clarification. Instead of informing me of what happened I was disrespected and the boy refused to even attempt to answer my questions. Come to find out these dummies were in the wrong, after demanding the receipt and letting them know that the other people who were supposed to pay for the items on the receipt were still there AND prepared to pay the bill I was told they can refuse service to any (Black) person they want and they'd voided the check. Your loss. Train your employees to handle difficult issues with consumers. Learn what drunk and combative looks like because that didn't happen. I'd give it negative 4 stars if I could. The setting and atmosphere was really nice. Service was great and so was the food and drinks. It wasn't until got home and looked at my credit card statement that I had an issue. I tipped the waitress, Tyler S. I believe was her name, 25% of my bill in cash, waaaay over what should have been done. I get my statement and she still gave herself $10 extra, that I didn't sign for. I put a zero on the tip line. I had to call the restaurant over ten times to get a response and when I did the person (Lisa) didn't act like it was a big deal. She did refund the money and when I asked why it happened she said the waitress doesn't remember and it was a mistake. How long will it keep being a mistake before something is actually done to the person???? I was planning on going back there for Labor Day but will not be now because I don't want to have to worry about fraud or theft. read more

I came here for Happy Hour and this place was awesome! The environment is super chic and you immediately feel like you're on vacation. There are cabana areas to chill and amazingly good hookah to smoke. The staff was really accommodating and friendly. Since I came for happy hour I didn't have any issues with the dress code, but later when my friend came to meet me (it was right after 8pm) they made him take his hat off in order for him to come back in, although there were other people in the bar with hats. If you're going to have a dress code you gotta be consistent. Also, wearing a baseball hat isn't offensive to anyone, so why not?Only other downside is the cocktails are a little pricey (hello, we're still in Austin, not NYC)... but they had a lot of good options for drinks and the food menu had a good variety! Black bean hummus with the plantain chips were so good! I definitely want to come back here again. read more

I am really sad to say this. Been to 77 about 3-4 times and never a full moment. But this upset me so much. It's the day after Christmas and me and a friend went to the rooftop for a beer. 2 girls came up to use and asked if they could get a drink from us and I said sure just for them 2. They ended up buying drinks for their whole crew and my card got charged over $100. The bar tender didn't care. I demanded the 2 girls to refund my money. They laughed in my face so the drinks they bought with my money I grabbed them and poured on the ground. They told management and security that I was a ex boyfriend and did this out of spite. I explained to management what had happened and they didn't care. They then told me to leave the establishment and escorted me out. They would rather believe the con females who robbed a poor guy. This was real upsetting for me. Ruined my holidays cheer and now I'm out of over 100. Thank you 77 degrees. read more

Went to 77 Degrees Rooftop for the first time on May 9, 2018. Got a drink, went to find an open-ish area to sit and ordered a hookah. We sat near the brown wooden walls in the middle of the patio and after like five minutes cockroaches started crawling EVERYWHERE. They were all over the wooden walls and all over the floor. It wasn't like there was just a single cockroach, there were SO MANY all over the place. Someone notified and showed one of the employees working at the time and all she said was "well that's weird" and walked away. We left and won't be coming back. No thanks. read more

This bar definitely gives you the great lounge feeling after a long day of shopping in the domain. I hosted my boyfriend's birthday party at 77 Degrees and the manager, Anthony, provided the party with excellent service! This place is just blessed to have such a pretty roof top, not shitty and no sticky furniture like most others who have roof tops that don't get enough cleaning frequently. It's very classy and the belly dancer was indeed attractive and good at her part. Music wasn't exceptional, but just generally middle eastern and suited the theme. But the service...ugh, our bartender was friendly but he had to ask someone else behind him if they served iced tea and the guys behind him nonchalantly, in the presence of us (their customers) continues peering at the Copa game on the TV like they dint have a job. On top of making a face like I asked for bubble tea at a bar. Then we were told to wait at our table for the server, who dint show up for 20 mins, and without a menu! When I asked her for a menu, she told me she would bring it when she comes back with everyone else's drinks, as if hinting it was the least of her priorities to show me a menu. Am I supposed to guess their fan colt named speciality cocktails? To be fair, she was nice and polite otherwise, so that was good, but just really slow and the place wasn't even busy on a Wednesday evening, otherwise I would have empathized more. The hookah and drink were good though, thankfully. The service here needs to be just upgraded in terms of professionalism by several levels. I grudging tipped them anyways to avoid them stereotyping my lack of tipping on other people from continent. But to be honest, no tip was deserved, it would have been faster for me to go to their bar, make my own drink and serve myself and my friends. Cmon guys, this is a great place and I hope u turn it around, Rock rose visitors really needs your business to keep up the expectations. We came to 77 Degrees on a Tuesday night as a result of a non-planned night out with friends and family in town. We weren't expecting anything more than a couple drinks and a place to sit before we ended the night. We got drinks at the rooftop bar and sat at one of the couch areas, which were empty so it seemed like a "seat yourself" atmosphere. About 10 minutes later we were approached by a waitress who seemed annoyed that we got drinks at the bar and didn't let her serve us. She was wearing pretty trashy clothing and talked about how a table had recently stiffed her on a tip. The whole night she was extremely awkward, tried to upsell us on everything, and got frequently annoyed when we weren't drinking fast enough to order more. I could go on about more frustrating things she did, but overall it was one of the most disappointing service experiences I've ever had. This bar has a great atmosphere and has the potential to be really fun. I would go again but I really hope she no longer works there the next time I go. I wish I could remember her name, but the "boobs-pushed-up-to-the-chin look" and her "under the influence" behavior was pretty distracting. I'm not sure she ever told us what her name was. read more

He was very prompt in getting our drinks to us, even after my sister yelled at him for bringing her a water instead of a sparkling water (she was drunk and he was super nice about it). This club/bar is racist! First time going went with a group of friends 3 guys 4 girls we couldn't because they thought my friend had on Jordan's when he just had on some fancy Nikes. So they decided not to let us in and lie and say they don't allow camouflage clothing. Second time going went with a friend we both got in, and she left something in the car we went back to get it. LITERALLY was gone 5mins and the tried to tell me I couldn't get in with the shoes I had on. Forgetting the fact hey just let me in. Wow this place is everything a rooftop bar should be! I love how The ambience is refreshing and the style the employees wear is very layed back vs what you see often: waitresses wearing scandalous outfits at bars. It's a cozy and fun spot! I went there for the at least 30th time. First time I was denied. Why? My SERVICE DOG. I left yard house ( after dining inside with SERVICE DOG)with an executive from a sister company, with the plan for us to snag a spot so our team of designers and other company affiliated people tomeet us. (Spent the whole day in a suit wanted to relax) then a new guy stopped me and said I can't go in, I had my I'd and my service dog paperwork which I'm legally not even obligated to provide in hand. He then proceeded to put his finger in my face and tell me that I don't know what's good for my SERVICE DOG. I grabbed his finger and he lunged at me like he was going to strike. I didn't flinch and he looked embarrassed but kept insisting I'm not allowed on the premises, my SERVICE DOG is TRAINED to accompany me and handle himself in ANY circumstance. Anyway I had a whole group of powerful people excited about this evening for it to be ruined by this guy at the door. Went Friday night with a group of friends..they denied my husband entry because his shorts weren't above his knee...everyone else was walking in with whatever they had on...I guess my husband was "too black" to get in here. If you want to be strict with dress codes, at least be consistent. He was looking for a reason when I walked up not to let me in. He thought it was funny. I hadn't had not one drink. I had on a collard true religion shirt with nice true religion jeans. So, I tried to get into this establishment because some local Austin folks said it was the place to go in the Domain. Walked to the door with some new shorts I purchased earlier and some solid colored Nikes thinking what I was wearing was good since the guy at the door was letting lots of folks in dressed similarly. Now I am the last person to pull the race card & hate when it is used in excess just because someone didn't like the service or was looking like unpresentable to be in an upscale establishment. The guy at the door told me my new shorts I was wearing were 'TOO BAGGY'. But this was clearly a case of it being a 'WE DON'T WANT BLACK PEOPLE SPENDING THERE $$$ HERE' night. I know this to be the case because a few white individuals standing in front of me with 'BAGGIER SHORTS AND DIRTY FLIP FLOP SANDALS ON' were let in with no problem. I should have taken a pic but wasn't in the mood to make a scene when there were plenty of bars in the area that had no problem taking black people's money. So FYI, if you are black THEY HAVE A SELECTIVE DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT AND ONLY CHOOSE TO ENFORCE IT WHEN THEY DECIDE IT'S A NO NEGROS ALLOWED NIGHT. I've had the same experience at Kung Fu saloon but they had to get sued numerous times in order for them to quit enforcing there Jim Crow policies. So as a frequent visitor to Austin, I now know as a black man with excess income to spend that I am not welcome at Red Room/Club 77 since my clothes must be tighter than other patrons who have privileged skin tone. Where to start where to start lol visiting from San Antonio, had a lot of fun on 6th street with all the restaurants, great music and cocktail bars. Decided to give this place a try because it was closer to my friends house. BIG mistake! First drink I ordered was watered down and the second one tasted like pepper.... no seriously pepper. The bartender was a complete *****. They don't serve ciroc (I had such a horrible time that I needed a shot to help lol) so I asked her what white liquors do they serve. She points behind her and says everything up there. I tried to tell her I didn't have my glasses so I asked for something white but smooth. She tells me grey goose, at this point I look at her crazy because grey goose is anything but smooth. So I just ask for a Stella and walk away from the crap service I received. For about 30 minutes or so the fire alarm starts going off like crazy until the fire department shows up to shut it off. So not only was the music terrible, the drinks were terrible, the bartenders were even worse.... I had to sit and listen to this alarm go off and on which caused me to run out the door and I have no intention on ever returning. read more

First of all I called & asked if I can make reservations or my birthday. I was asked how big was the party. I told her about 25 -30. I was told NO! If you don't have a party of 50 then there is no use to make reservations, to just come in & find a spot. Proceeded upstairs to find a spot to sit for my party of 25-30. Our waiter was super sweet. I asked her about the reservation issue & she said that wasn't true. We spent a lot of money there & wasn't buzzed when it came to the drinks, but I had 3 hooka's. So it was fun with that. My sister ordered a drink, once the waiter brought her drink to her. It was lip prints on the glass. When she pointed it out to the waiter & asked for her drink to be made over in a clean glass & a fresh drink. The waiter which acted little snobbish but took it back. We watched her take it back to the bartender/manager. The waiter told him about it. He grabbed a new glass, wipe it out with a napkin & poured the old drink inside the clean glass. We were in AWE!! Couldn't believe what we had just saw. My sister got up walked over & told him, no i don't want that drink, make me a new one or give my money back. He said, oh I will make you a new one. I had a great time but the services sucked, the bartenders sucked, my waiter was nice. They also wouldn't let a few of my guest in there because they had on Jordan's. which I felt that was prejudiced. The waiter told me that they don't let no one in with Jordans or any kind of expensive shoes because if someone stepped on them. They wouldn't want a fight to break out!! I couldn't believe my ears!! I said you got to be kidding me!! I said my I speck to a manager. So the same guy who made my sisters drink was the manager that night. I walked up to him & asked please let them in, that's 4 customers for y'all business, plus it's me birthday. please. So he said it depends on what the door person said. He went down stairs & spoke with my guest & the door person. They let them in, but informed them that they can no longer come there wearing Jordans. I would love to speck to the owner or the general mgr. Due to the fact it's a great place, but they need to show love to everyone, because everyone money spends the same. Plus it shows PREJUDICED!! Stay away from this business!!! Used to begood But now its terrible!!! I was there saturday night. They were extremely busy. I ordered a hookah and 2 drinks. Toook a while to arrive but it finally did. Then i ordered 2 more drinks that took forever to arrive and it never did. I went to the bar paid for the drinks myself with another credit card. I forgot to close my original credit card. This was on the 15th early morning. I arrive on the 16th very nicely asked the gentleman behind the counter for my credit card that i had left. He gives me a receipt for $75.67. I'm lookimg at it. Im thinking to myself i had 1 hookah and 2 drinks its impossible to be this amount. I ask him for an itemized receipt he starts giving me excuses. He goes to the back comes back without the receipt. But the waitress who helped me saturday night said. I remember you. You ordered drinks and hookah. We were busy i brought the other 2 shots and u were gone but i charged you for those drinks. Thats called robbery!!! I never got those drinks. Instead she says well this was 3 days ago its already closed out there is nothing we can do. I tell her in a frustrated manner. This was like 24 hours ago. Today is the 16th. By this timr im frustrated we are going ik circles. I was a little pissed off. The guy who was helping me said get the hell out of this property right now. They robbed me. Then kicked me out. Over $20 ill never ever return. Ill make sure to tell all my friends and associates about this crooked management and how they treat their customers. Stay away!!! Over priced. Rude slow staff. Been here before and it was nice so decided to try it again. Wanted to make sure this was the place i wanted to have a party at for my birthday. Well this go around the gentleman at door stated I could come in but my boyfriend can't due to him having on Polo Boots. What??? He goes to state that they don't allow in anyone in their establishment that wears polo boots and Jordans.. which I know is a lie. We've been here before and didn't have any problem with the polo boots so why now? Plus, as we watch others go in they have on jordans and polo boots but are allowed to enter. We ask to speak with a manager and they stated they will not call a manger in a rude manner and wouldn't allow us to speak with one. Don't know what's the issue with jordans and polo boots when u see people wearing flip flops, nikes, ect. Just wanted an explanation and no one would explain why.
