Great! It was a very fast service. I pulled right up with my RV and was guided were to park. Friendly and efficient staff. I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. read more

This 76 gas station is nothing out of the ordinary. Same cashiers every shift and they are efficient most of the time. There is a mechanic shop that sits on the same lot. I believe it's a separate owner that runs it. They do oil changes, brake changes, alignments and work on tires. Those guys are not too bad and wave at me every time I pass by since we are on first name bases. You can fill up on your propane here also. The snack shop has chips, drinks, candies of all kinds and a small selection of hygiene items (chapstick, Tylenol, etc.). Try to avoid in the morning because the pumps get crowded. read more

This gas station is very ry clean . Easy excess. Staff is very helpful. Great place to get gas and snacks. Very reasonable prices.

After my experience today, I am pretty confident that this shop does unnecessary work, and it also does a very poor job. As others have said, they advertise heavily in the local Pennysavers. Went there for a "cheap" oil change on a Nissa Qwest van (1994), and the ripoffs began with an extra charge of $12 because I have a 6 cylinder engine. I can understand charging a little more for a tune up if you need to throw in a couple of extra spark plugs, but if you are using the same oil and filter, it seems strange. Anyway, $25 is still not bad, so I let them proceed. I was then told that I needed to replace both front brake pads, a transmission gasket (labor intensive) and address a leaky oil pan. Well last summer, I had gotten a similar story from them on another car, and I was skeptical Luckily I have another station I use, which does not use coupons, but I have always felt that they only do what they must (California Auto Tech 2, Milpitas, which is also a 76 station, but a world of difference). Well I told them that I would let my mechanic have a look, and did not let on that I smelled a rat. Sure enough, Mr. Nguyen in Milpitas confirmed my suspicions. The brakes and transmission really do not need attention, and the only issue with the oil was that a proper new (cheap) plug was not provided when the change was done. SO - please avoid Gill 76 Auto Service in San Jose. They do not appear to be operating with real integrity. read more

Rude and Shady!!! Don't even bother to come here. My bf and I took his moms car here to get a transmission flush? They have coupons in the PENNYSAVERS, so we gave it a shot...we took her car out and turns out the coupon was only for labor..it didn't say that anywhere on the coupon... a week or so later (today) my bf took his car there for a STANDARD TUNE-UP, we cut out the small coupon since the last time we brought the whole ad the man who worked there took the whole thing and didn't give it back to us. Boyfriend called and they said yeah come in..we arrive and its clear they didn't have anything to do and was bored. So they check the car and we hand one of the guys the coupon...he pretty much crumbled it up in front of us- which I thought was rude. The man also tried to convince my bf that he needed the more expensive spark plugs, my bf declined.. and he seemed bothered by it. We were standing there for 40 mins and it seemed like no one was working on the car.. I told my bf...I think they don't have some parts...time passed and a van came up asking about a light and lamp change, they took that car and they all worked on it while my bf's car was waiting to be worked on. 40 mins had passed and they didn't say a word to us even though we were standing there in the cold waiting for the tune-up to be done...turned out they were waiting for the Pepboys guy to arrive and delivered the parts they needed. We were there from about 245pm-430 or 5ish... read more

76 Gas Station - 76 in Ghettoville. - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

I came here to get gas @ 8:00am. The attendant, was half asleep? Sick? Coz I was just askin what time shop open/how much they charge brake inspection? he kinda look like gettin irritated. I thought they r connected till I read da review (separate owner??) I have mechanic friend but his busy n my brakes squeaks really bad. The only thing I'm coming here I was recommended by a former co-worker who lives around da area. She said this is da best place to get gas. I mean for some1 like me who drives an old car.(I don't advise to put cheap gas) been driving da same car for da last 15 years!! read more

another zero. Cuz I'm tired, I will keep it short. These people tried to tell me my breaks were metal on metal. I had a trusty mechanic pull my break pad out and there was definitely still some padding. these people definitely are not honest. EXPOSED! Stay away. read more

This place has horrible service. I had to drain my newly charged a/c system because of a leak. I ask the mechanic how much it would be the vacuum the new freon out (the responsible and RIGHT thing to do) and he says $60 ... ok wth... so i asked him how much it would be for a drain and recharge and he says $75, my next question to him is "so to charge alone would be $15 right?" and he goes on a rant... this place is a rip off, no customer service and theyre out to price gouge. run far, run fast and never look back at this place. good thing the gas station and service center are 2 different businesses with 2 different owners, or else i'd never get gas here again either. read more

Meh is how I feel about this station. The owner is rude and the attendants can barely be understood in their broken Hindi dialect! I'm not racist either Once my son needed a simple car repair and we stayed to fix it. They charged us 200 dollars for labor and it was up on the rack for thirty minutes! I asked why they charged us for more than the time the car was actually being repaired and the owner said they go by the amount of time the repair web site says it would take not the actual time it DOES take! Wow! That's highway robbery.... Or in this case..... Union. 76 robbery! Fill up but avoid the mechanic is my advice! read more

DO NOT COME HERE - I can't wait for this place to go out of business. I would give negative star for this place if that was an option. Wish I've listened to the 1 star reviews but thought minimal could go wrong for a simple smog check and this place was right at the corner from my house, so I neglected and went in. They were rude, shady, robbed me $32, and managed to piss me off so badly with just that small amount of money (consider it charity Mr. Singh). What pissed me off the most was by the end of the service, he gave me a signal to come to the counter (yes, signal, not even a word), told me to pay $31.75 which surprised me because he originally said $40. I asked the question which he ignored and asked for my credit card. I asked if the smog passed? He said it's not done yet. I went ahead and paid while he went over the other desk and got a printout. Brought it back and said "the timing ignition is wrong" and handed me the paper. No explanation, no mentioning of what needs to be done, more like "I got your money, now get lost". Then I realized that he already knew it did not pass because he did not charge $8.25 for the certificate. I was so pissed that I was speechless. read more

Ok place for gas.... but be cautious with bringing in your lottery scratchers here. Every single time, the male cashiers tell me that they don't have enough cash, but only after they've scanned the ticket into the computer. Today I took in two tickets that won a total of $40. I only wanted $30 back and he said he didn't have enough cash. I don't trust being given a ticket back that has already been scanned. I have had it happen before that I've taken a ticket elsewhere after this happening at another location, and was told the ticket was invalid. read more

5 stars for always having cheaper gas prices. The only thing that bad about this location is that it's a pretty scary neighborhood and the fact that its a pain to get out of the lot during commute hours, or in general due to the light and constant traffic. read more

I took my car for a tire balance. Paid extra for weights needed to balance what the mechanic said was a bent rim. When I got home I noticed the rim had no weights whatsoever. I took car back and asked why my tire had no weights? He then told me that my car didn't need them.. So basically he stole and lied to me, not a good thing coming from the owner of the gas station. Please be careful in doing service to your car at this location. I would not given this place a start but Yelp requires at least one start to submit this post. read more

It's the same owner, Sonny from A5 at 595 S. White Rd, San Jose. He failed smog check for a missing mounting bolt (worth $26) and asked for $200 unnecessary fixing. My trusted mechanic friend confirmed Sonny's incompetent work and desperate acts. Truth always catch up. Visit other places to avoid his scam. read more

I discovered a lug nut embedded in my tire and needed to repair it immediately. This place was nearby. We encountered a very rude, Indian [just for detail purposes] attendant who was on duty and I requested a tire patch. He proceeded to remove the lug (which left a huge gaping hole) and then plugged it, despite my request. He claimed the hole was too large for a patch. I'm sure he was just being a lazy jerk. All the more reason to patch it then, right? I ended up having to pay the bloke $20 for the plug since it was already done, and then later took it to another shop to remove the plug and have them patch it. Seriously avoid this place if you have a tire emergency. read more

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Definitely not going to try to complete that one... If you ever want to experience an auto shop you can only see in your auto nightmares, well you have definitely come to the right place! If you are looking for less than accurate information, lower than mediocre service, and unexpected expenses...you have found your spot! Talk about fishing, let me fill you in on their business strategy...give one price on the phone, then once you actually come in..."um I'm not sure who have you that price but that is not correct...(nicely paired with a well-rehearsed confused facial expression)." This place is family owned so there are only a couple of people working here...the same people everyday...umm can you ask the other guy sitting around? Nope, that's not an option! I mean, I was going for a simple, uncomplicated, quuuuuuick smogcheck. What came to be left me wondering how many people they have dooped. I, like many others before me came in with a PennySaver coupon for a smogcheck. I even called in before to double check what I should be paying...gave them my exact year and model...let me repeat that...EXACT. They quoted me with a price, I agreed with it so decided to drive down and get err done. Once I got there, it was like a poor gazelle driving into a pride of lions...dinner was in the air...let the MF games begin! I walked up, feeling pretty comfortable because well I I thought I knew what to expect. Well, to my (then) surprise, the price for that same year and model was completely off. They looked at me like I had pulled that number out from the Under World. Just wanted to get my short story in so you all can get the 411. But I'll be back to elaborate! read more

These dudes are sorry! They got me for $200 for a tune-up and I think i left there with the same parts cuz there was still grime on the old parts no new spark plug wires (even though i paid extra for it) and my truck was running as poorly as when i took it in. Never will i take another car there...theives! read more

I woke up to find I had a flat tire, it was drivable but very low, the 76 gas station was the closest place I could find, the attendant saw me pull up to the air pump and he called me over to go towards the service bay where they have the professional air hose, I told him that I had a flat, probably had a nail, he went for a spray bottle and started spraying all over the Tire, I asked him if he could fix it, and without missing a beat, he agreed, went to pick up his repair kit and proceeded to fix the tire, his mechanic arrived at that time and took over the task, very nice people, great service, I will keep coming back to this place! I highly recommend it, thanks to the Indian guy, I didn't get his name, but he was very kind and helpful! read more

These guys are shady. They wasted my time. I have taken my car in to get it fix because it doesn't pass smog. And what happen, not even 3 miles ahead, my engine check light comes back on. It took them 3 days to fix it and it's still not fixed. I was so pissed. This guy doesn't even speak engish right either. Wasted my money on fixing something that was not even fixed. So I finally took it back to my an old automachanic that had worked on my car 3 years back. Waste my time and my money. They took so long that my Smog Check due date was already up. read more

Clerk claims that his end of providing free air is BROKEN so you have to pay fifty cents in the machine for it.

Fuck this place. These are some shady guys. I just got back from trying to get a cheap oil change and cheap tire rotation, and my experience was the same as everyone's here so far. They took my whole pennysaver coupon, and they tried to tell me that I needed to get my Rotors replaced. Me being stupid and wanting to get the hell out of there ASAP, I agreed. But then I quickly came back and told them, "No." Instead things got complicated and I had to pay for new break pads. It was long overdue anyways, since it was the first time I was changing the break pads on my car. I just hit 20k at this point. Nevertheless, STAY AWAY from these guys. Go to Sears to get your work done there. This place blows. These shady Sikhs are looking to get more money from you. read more

I took one of my Lexus to get a smog check on October 1, 2013 at GILL AUTO 76 SVC and I had decided to use this place because it is a STAR station and as required by the DMV to use a smog station with this STAR designation. When I first got to there at the station, I was approached by RAVI SINGH / E0632571 as per his paperworks and he was the person that had performed the smog check on my Lexus. The smog check process took about 25-30 minutes which was a little too long comparing to my experience with other smog check stations. Toward to the end of the process, Mr. Singh had called to me to the check out counter and at which time, I had asked him for the result of the smog check my Lexus and he replied by saying that "it was not ready", then proceed to collect my payment as though he has fear that I was not going to pay for the service. Just for the record, Mr. Singh still has my car at the testing station with the key still inside and so, I have decided to pay regardless of him not showing of the result. After I made my the payment, the smog check result magically appeared from behind the rest of paperworks with a FAILED due to "Ignition Timing (21 BTDC)...Defective", and gave me a print out of the result. Mr. Singh then asked me if I would like for him to do the repair work in order to make correction. Hmmm...with zero personality and the way he had treated me at the check out counter...hmmm, PASSED!!!! Words of advice to Mr. Singh, please work on people skills as you are in the customer service business and to the customers out there, please stay away from GILL AUTO 76 SVC., as they have an unethical way of doing business. read more

I went there for the smog check and i was actually confused, because i thought i was at the place with the good reviews. This place has terrible reviews but for smog check it was good enough for the car i was selling. it's a bit pricey than other places ( $75) but the guy did his job right, although i feel that i had to be in there to make sure he did everything right. I called them to get a price on a smog on my Suv. Stay away from this place! These people are dishonest and just looking to rip off the naive and gullible customer. They had a coupon in the Pennysaver for a smog check for $14.95(+ cert. + transmission fee + EVAP test). Doing the math, all that should come out to around $35(14.95+8.25+1.75+10.00) with the coupon. For some odd reason, they quoted me a total of $60, and won't budge even though I explained I have the coupon. It is obvious they are using these coupons as bait to attract customers. Needless to say, I got the hell out of there. No way I was gonna do business with these crooks. What a waste of my time! read more

Made the mistake of going there before reading the Yelp reviews. Went there for a smog check which was OK--40 bucks out the door. The rude mechanic props up my car and starts finding all sorts of things wrong with the transmission, brakes and CV axles. I took my van for a smog check on 7/15/14, after I paid him $56.00 the attendant told me that the van had ot passed, and to drive the the van for 200 miles. He stated that after the 200 miles I could take it back because the computer needed to reset. On 7/25/14 I took the van back for the recheck up. Still did not pass so the mechanic told me to drive it 32 more miles and to bring it back for the recheck up. He did not reminded me that I was still under the 15 days warranty for the check up. So on 8/1/14 I went back for the last time and I mean the LAST TIME because to my surprise the mechanic told me that I had to pay for the smog check again since I had taken the van after the 15 days had passed! I was shocked to hear this. I was so upset at the fact that I had to pay $56 for the recheck up that I started crying! The guy fell sorry for me and finally told me that he would charge me $35 instead. I was still up set at this but since I need the van to be smog tested I decided to pay and then write a review. What I learned from this is always check with the person you are dealing with on the 15 days of warranty, Never assume that other places will not charge you again if the smog test that not passes! I needed a smog check and stopped here after getting a high price from another place. I asked the guy how much it would cost for my care. He asked whether I had the car with me and whether I had the dmv papers. To both I replied yes. He then quoted me a price seemingly adjusting the price knowing that I would most likely get it because I had the necessities. The price wasn't too bad so I did it. Test was run, emissions hose removed and then an inspection of parts under the hood. (either looking for problems to fix or diagnose why I failed as I would soon find out). He comes back and asks for less than he had quoted me (I realized I failed). Then hands me the papers which confirmed that I failed. He was very hard to understand and said the minimum possible when ever he spoke but said that he could fix it. Told him I'd think about it and then he knocked off $25. Thought about it for a few seconds and said ok, lets do it (maybe not the best price but it wasn't so expensive that I figured it was worth my troubles). Two hours later and I was good to go. read more

I took my 1996 TransAm for smog check. Mind you, my car was driving ok otherwise. So this guy finishes the smog check then he raised my car and started looking underneath and comes bak to say my front break rotors and pads need to be changed, that my rotors were "cracked". I told him my break pads and rotors were just changed about 11 months ago and I don't drive it a lot. He insisted and i kept saying no and he still insisted and gave me " a good deal" for smog check and break rotors and pads. So I agreed. I asked to see the rotors and pads and didn't see no cracks, but what do I know? I at least knew there were still a good padding on my old pads. Once again I refused, he looked irritated and started talking to the other mechanic in his language. Once he was done he told me it was $20 and asked if I would pay cash. Too expensive and took forever to fix my car. The boss are not nice. There are so many other good places. Do not recommend this one.

Took my car for a smog check due to having a coupon from Penny Saver. Car passed but he said that I needed a brake and steering fluid flush because it was very dirty. I was surprised because I had just had it done less then 1 month ago at the dealership where I do my service jobs because I trust Piercy.
