I can't believe it's been so long since my last five star review of this fantastic business. White Road auto service handles everything automotive for myself and many of my friends. I have my oil changed there, both major and minor repairs, and I just had brakes (front and rear) replaced there yesterday. Tai has been servicing my cars for about 15 years now. He is absolutely the fairest, most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with in my life. I think it's also a good sign that several of his staff have also been there for this full-time. One has to assume he's just as fair and honest with them as he is with his clients. If you live anywhere within the greater San Jose area, and need good, quality, honest car repairs you need to look no further than White Road auto service. read more

This is how you get ripped off... I got a card in the mail from AAA for a free 40-point vehicle maintenance inspection. I didn't even know AAA has auto repair centers? However, I trust AAA and have been a member for quite sometime so I took my car in to be inspected at their Tully Road location. To make a long story short and after testing my car with lots of fancy diagnostic tools they told me I needed $3,924.07 in repairs including front and back brakes. Huh?! I asked what is "needed" rather than "recommended"? He quoted me around $2500. I politely told him I would go to my regular mechanic to take a look. I've been going to Tai/Tran at White Road Auto Service for decades and he has always been the most trustworthy person. Being a good old fashioned mechanic he looked under my car with a flashlight and deducted I needed my front brakes resurfaced. Then he checked under the hood and said I needed to top off my oil. Total cost $234.91. That's a difference of $3,680.16. Who do you think is going to be my forever mechanic? read more

New alternator and belts installed. Pretty good price. They got it done. Not much more to say.

This is a hidden gem in San Jose. They are fast, honest, and fair priced. The team communicates and are highly skilled. I won't bring my car anywhere else. read more

They couldn't help with an oil change. They said my drain plug was stripped and to bring my car back after I get a new one. I went down the street and got my oil changed without any problem. Its a small parking lot, no waiting room, and staff didn't want to help read more

I've been coming here for three years now, and I really appreciate the professionalism quality of work and fair price that they provide

My tires were changed at Costco 3 weeks ago . Yesterday I noticed when I was ready to drive that there was a screw embedded in my tire and was completely flat . Went to Costco and was told I have to change the complete tire for $259.00 and have my car towed to their tire store . I called White Road Auto Service and talked to TAI the owner . He told me to put air on the tire and drive it to his shop and he will fix it . Drove this am and with in an hour he was able to take the screw and sealed the tire completely . Fast service , reasonable price and reliable . Tai the owner and his workers are all experts . They repaired my other car before and had very good experience with them . Thank you Tai ! read more

Honest and extremely fair priced. I'm always so well taken care of everytime I come here. Everyone is so friendly and they always take care of my cars with an explanation to every question I have. Fast and efficient oil change, in and out in about 30 minutes (though they gave a rough 45 min wait). There were other folks ahead of me but I think they required more in depth car service. I came on a Thursday at noon so it's probably why they were able to get me in and out so quickly. $85 and they suggested to come back for an oil change after 5k miles. read more

I always come here for my car needs, before I would bring my Audi A3 here and now I have a subaru and also bring it here. This place was recommended by my dad because the mechanics are trustworthy and fair with prices. I have gotten an oil change, brakes, rotters, and a window fixed here, all great work at reasonable prices. Tai has always had good communication and the service is prompt. Be sure to call in advanced as they do get very busy. Highly recommend! read more

Got an oil change - it took about 25 minutes from the time I arrived, and the price was reasonable, while not the cheapest. The place looks kind of run down and disorganized, though. It wasn't clear at first who is in charge there, and there's no office - just a table in a far corner; going there means walking right through the repair shop, under cars. But for a quick job, this is fine. There's a library nearby, where one can wait, presumably. read more

I got my oil change and tire rotated in 45 minutes. I will be back after another 5 k miles. That was service!

Called for an estimate. Just needed to get a part replaced. I mentioned I had to tow it to the shop and he instantly saw the Opportunity to say he " does not know how much to charge he needs to see the problem". I just told him the problem and he wants to up- sale. Red flag read more

My family has been going to Tai for the past 2 decades. My grandpa and dad always went to him when I was growing up. The only shop I can trust in San Jose when having car issues. read more

My cars AC pump needed to be replaced and called around a few shops for an estimate. This here was by far the best price I found! I have taken all my cars here th past ten years. The owner have always been very honest and fair. Whenever I get something done...mostly oil change...it's always super fast. Less than an HR. Or they will let me know to come back at a moe convenient time. I had had bigger stuff done and it was the same results quick to get my car back and never had any issues with my car after. I Never negotiate the price because he always is fair about pricing. I don't negotiate price with doctors to treat my body ...so when I found a good Fair mechanic (my cars doctor) ..I won't negotiate the price for my cars health either. read more

5 stars. Tai and his team are awesome. Quick, honest, polite, and polite! I remember going to other chain companies and the wait would be excessively expensive and time-consuming. As a person that is currently residing in SoCal, it's always great to come here for a good tune up. I guess I was pretty spoiled coming here, it's pretty hard to find good and honest mechanics. TL;DR Tips: * No public restroom but Starbucks is nearly adjacent to the shop. * The SJ public library is next door if you're in the need of killing time. * Be sure to come early to avoid the wait! read more

White Road Auto Service - Front of the shop. If you see the public library, you're right around the corner! - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

I recommend anyone with car issues or need car maintenance to come here. They offer quick service. They are affordable and friendly. They are ready to work. I recently been bringing my car and my friends here for their automotive needs. From smog to oil change to full brake job. Never had an issue with them or with my car. The place can be somewhat hidden if you are not familiar if the area. It's a small 2 car garage shop that is connected with a gas station. It is near by a church and a library. read more

Come here at your own risk... I wish I had a positive experience like everyone else here but unfortunately I did not. I was recommended here by a family member for brakes. I was able to get in same day (I guess that should've been a sign). Next day I pick up my car happy to not hear the metal on metal sound. But that was short lived, a week later my brakes are squeaking like CRAZY. I wait a little bit thinking it may have been left over brake dust but the sound only got worse. I take it back to him explaining my brakes are still squeaking and it's been 2 weeks. He hops in my car drives for a few seconds and tells me your brakes just need to "warm up" and I was like wth?? Okay. A month later my brakes are screaming and it's so embarrassing at this point. I take back to him AGAIN and he tells me it's probably my back brakes. I just replaced my back brakes a year ago so that's a lie. I said can you please look at it, I don't think it's that and said he didn't need too. At this point I was fed up. I ended up taking it to someone else for a second opinion and this person said I needed to replace my ROTORS! And that the last person who did it literally just slapped on new brakes without replacing it, hence the squeaking. So I basically paid $197 to slap on new brakes for nothing. Thanks. I would've been willing to pay the extra money to replace the rotors if he would have been upfront with me but unfortunately he wasn't. I guess that's what I get... read more

This place is the bomb dignity! I have been coming here for a couple years now. I was referred by a friend. A mom/pop type auto shop next to the gas station but the man who owns this place has hooked it up time and time again. He never fails to give me a fair price and has a great sense of humor. I am always pleased with the service here and I will definitely come back. I would recommend to others. read more

My dad always came here to Tai and now I always will. Tai and his mechanics are awesome, honest and speedy. They are fair about pricing and fix your car correctly. If he can fix it he'll tell you, if he can't he'll tell you, if he knows a place that can fix something he can't he'll tell you. that's how honest they are. I've never had to bring back anything he fixed because it wasn't fixed right. These guys are the best. read more

Love this place. Very simple and straightforward. They don't try to upsell. Their prices match the ones estimated by Edmunds. Appreciated the reviews that mentioned the library next door. It was a comfy place to wait. read more

My dad (Master Slumdog) has been coming here for years, so why not follow in his footsteps!?! These guys are honest mechanics and that is hard to find. We have gotten service for almost everything the past 15 years from brake jobs, radiator flush, starters, water pump, intake manifold, coolant system flush, smog check, etc ~~Recent Jobs~~~ Battery Malfunction - After getting a brand new battery from Sears, the car would lose power and I would have to jump start it again WTF!?! I take it to White Road Auto Service they find the battery was not properly installed took 5mins to solder it on at no charge! (FU Sears Auto Care - damn dummies!!!) Been going here for years. Came in for a smog check today and I was in and out in 30 minutes. Service is always quick and to the point.

I love to come here for a oil change since the owner is friendly and the staff is fun. Service is quick and price is affordable

Had my valve cover gasket replaced heater hose and radiator top hose Ty got me in and charged me a very responsible price for all the work that was done. I've taken all of my cars and my daughters vehicles even my X has taken her vehicle in. The shop is a bit cluttered because of the size but you'd be hard pressed to find an honest decent shop that does what that claims and charges you a fair prize. I would and have recommended this shop. read more

We found this gem when we lived in East San Jose. Tai and the entire staff at White Road Auto is amazing! They are HONEST. And--you know how difficult it is to find an honest auto mechanic! We have taken all of our cars here for the past 10 years and have had minor and major work done, including tune-ups, oil changes, water pump replacement, engine work, brakes, etc. We have since moved but still make the trek out to White Road auto when we need auto work done. We always receive honest, respectful and quality service. They will provide cost-effective alternatives and only replace when absolutely necessary. Can't say enough about them. If you are looking for your forever auto-repair shop--this is it!! read more

About a year ago I was searching for a new Auto Repair Shop near my house. The one I had been going to closed so I was already stressing about finding the right place. A friend referred me to White Road Auto about a year ago. I have been going here for small repairs ever since. Recently my car was overheating and shop suggested major repair. Not only was the price reasonable but on time. I have the utmost trust in White Road Auto. read more

Anyone who gives Tai less than 5 stars is crazy. We've taken our cars to Tai for over 20 years. We moved to Elk Grove 17 years ago but we still come back to SJ only to have Tai repair our cars. I can not say enough good things about them. read more

Y'all know the feeling when trying to find a new mechanic? I know that feeling all too well!!! I thank God I found this place. I called around 10am because my 2010 Toyota Corolla had a bad alternator and serpentine belt. The gentleman named Tai said bring my car in. I had it towed around 11am. He told me what the problem was and then gave me the quote. It was really unbelievably cheaper then I expected. Great PRICE!!!! I called around 5pm and he said half hour my car will be ready. I got there at 5:30pm the same day and low and behold my car was ready. I took it for a drive and everything felt great. This was about a week ago. I waited to leave a review because I wanted to make sure that my car was good. Tai BTW is a very likeable gentleman. I would definitely recommend y'all to bring your business here. On the outside it doesn't look like much...but looks can be deceiving. I will continue to bring my cars here and I will recommend them to anyone! read more

This place has saved me twice in the past few years. A few years back my car battery completely died. Since it was close to my house, I brought my car here. Within a couple of minutes the issue was diagnosed as the alternator needing to be replaced. Best part of all, it was done for less than $150 and my car was ready for pickup about 4 hours later. Fast forward to now. My Check Emissions System light came on. Again, took it here and they ran diagnostics, sat in the running car for about 30 seconds, peeked under the hood and told me the problem was a blown ignition coil. Once again, work was done in less than 3 hours and cost me less than $200. So what's my point? This place lives up to all the 5 star reviews. They are cheap, efficient, and get the job done. Don't let the small shop in east San Jose with a busted store front sign fool you. This place is legit. No bullshit or tricks. Everyone wants a mechanic they can trust. You have one here. read more

Fast & easy service at a great price comparing to other places in San jose CA would come again

I am still floored by the amazing service I received. Took my car in because I thought I heard a noise and the Check Tire Pressure light came on. Hai checked it, as well as the brakes, and found no problems. When I went back to pick it up, he told me the work was FREE. I tried to get him to take some money, but he repeatedly and politely refused. He said there's nothing wrong with the car so I didn't need to pay!! Dare you to find a more honest mechanic! read more

Honest, direct and skilled. Tai and his team are the best! Piercy Toyota told me that my trunk latch was broken and the part would cost $250 not including labor. Tai took one look at it got his screwdriver and jimmied out a piece of rubber that was jamming the latch and it works good as new, no charge! Plus what the dealership was going to charge me for replacing brake pads, replacing lights and fluid change, with parts bought from O'Rielly and Tai's labor all was done for 1/3 the price. I won't take my car anywhere else. read more
