Definitely would recommend to anyone in the area that needs work done on your car. My family has been coming here for years and Joe has always looked out for them. He and his crew offer competitive rates and quick service. They don't beat around the bush or try to add on services once there. I had my front right axle replaced by Keith and it was done within a few hours once they received the part. You can tell he takes care of his clients because everyone seems to be happy when they leave even though we all know car work is never a happy time. read more

Great service experience was above par recommend them for all of your car service needs best in town

This shop is fantastic ! Brought my daughter's car in for inspection, prior to her driving the car on a long road trip. They performed the inspection and recommend minor maintainence (brakes) which was completed at a reasonable rate and in a timely manner. I Would highly recommend this shop for their quality work, rates, and integrity. Thanks Joe. read more

They know what they are doing! They are honest and trust worthy. My vehicle was diagnosed and fixed fast! Their price in labor and work is very reasonable. Thankful to have been referred to this great quality and affordable car mechanic place for European vehicles. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been bringing my 3 Mercedes cars to Joe for over the past 10 years. Joe is the best--honest and upfront about pricing over the phone. He explains what needs to be done now and what can wait. He doesn't lie or steal. I believe many of the Karens, both men and women, who are leaving negative reviews feel entitled and probably had a bad day when they visited, but he certainly doesn't deserve a one-star rating. One time, I had a new Mercedes still under warranty, which I didn't realize because I hadn't had the car for a while. Joe called his friend at the dealership and found out I was covered for an issue I had, even though my car was about six years old--I didn't know. He advised me to visit the dealership to get it fixed for free. That's what I call an honest, trustworthy person. He could have made money off me, but chose not to. I've referred about 5 people to him, and I plan to keep referring people to him. read more

Star Auto is my secret go-to spot for all my vehicle needs. Finally found a mechanic I can trust!

The owner called and offered to fix the issue, offered to drive the car to make sure it was working, and as a result I have updated this review as the vehicle is fixed and not showing any codes for EVAP at the moment. I definitely think there's a language barrier with some of the mechanics as they come off rude, but the owner Joe is reasonable and cares about protecting his business and customer's cars. It can certainly come off as a difference in opinion at times. However, the owner did explain that an EVAP leak is hard to troubleshoot because it could be the front or back, or something else. After he explained it, it made sense why the EVAP leak codes came back on. I've driven it about 50 miles so far and no codes are coming back on, let's see after another 150 miles. Thank you Joe for fixing this issue with a reasonable price. He also provided told his employees to take me home and also pick me up so I don't waste money on uber rides. read more

This is a company you can trust your car and wallet with. They are experts they know what they're doing, it's not guess work for them.

Excellent service with very fair pricing! The work is done timely and they itemize all the work and parts clearly.

I am glad I left behind years ago Mercedes of Silicon Valley after they tried to change me for a part that is did not need which cost $2K. Star Auto Services did a lot of repairs yesterday which is half the cost of All of the other repair shops in town. Sometimes it is good to compare costs to avoid being over charged by greedy owners. They do fast service and also fix lots of small problems at no charge. The only problem you have to wait only one day for the big jobs. read more

Kiet and Joe are fantastic, honest folks who truly care about their customers. Our car was fixed promptly at a reasonable price, and the communication throughout the process was top-notch. Highly recommend! read more

They know what they are doing specially working on the car, sometimes it does take long time but they will lets you know up front and ask if you are ok with that. Last thing is the price, to be fair price is reasonable to compare to dealerships and you got your car fixed right. read more

I have a 2003 C230 Kompressor with 168K city mileage and I was fortunate it never had any shop visits other than the smog shop. I have been doing all possible DIYs on my car until the coolant starts mixing up with oil lately. I am so stressed out looking for an honest to goodness MB experts (someone that is not going to rip me off) that of all 5 MB shops I have consulted only Star Auto Service got my thrust. As soon as I brought my car at closing time the very next day my C230 were already up and halfway through with all the repair works. I felt bad not asking the name of the mechanic who is working with my car but he is very nice and very comfortable to talk with. Kiet and Joe are the ones running the shop and they sure are the MB experts you would like to asks first. Kiet is an expert with a few words but well informed of your MB issues and problems Joe as well does the same but more MBs external and internal logistics. As far as pricing are concerned, they are very straightforward and my instinct tells me that they will not rip me off. Kudos with all other mechanic experts working in their shop. They sure deserve my respect and solace from my car issues. A complete and total appreciation of their services. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...! read more

I have been going to star auto service for last 6-7yrs and always feel that they do a great job at the price 30-40% cheaper than the MB dealer service. It's hard to find an auto service whom you can trust not to rip you off and does a good job in repairing various things. I strongly recommend this place! read more

My review is years overdo. Joe and his team are incredible.. Myself and family have been bringing our vehicles to Joe for the past 8 years. Only mechanic I trust, he's honest, gets us in just as soon as we are ready to get the car in, takes the time to listen and hear what we are experiencing. arranges to have car assessed ASAP and gets back so quickly with his reccomendation, which includes something so simple, which at times he doesn't even charge. Overall I am gratefule he is a mechanic that will take care of our cars, and not cause us to break the bank... a business and family man with a heart. Rare find!! read more

Star Auto is THE most honest and reliable auto repair shop in the South Bay. They specialized in Mercedes but can work on any vehicle. I've been taking all my vehicles here since they opened. The owners and the mechanics are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. Their labor prices are low and the owner will always recommend the best option for your vehicle. I use to take my Mercedes SL to the dealership for repairs but I only pay a fraction of the cost here. It's difficult to find trustworthy mechanic shops. You'll be extremely satisfied with their service here! read more

Star Auto Services once again performed an outstanding job. Like the usual routine for my Mercedes service, I call up Joe at Star Auto Services to inform him that I'm bringing my Mercedes in for a service. Joe is the one that I can trust and rely on when it comes to my car. I know nothing about cars and having someone as reliable and trustworthy like Joe gives me peace of mind. Although the shop was busy during lunch time, he made it happened. Very impressive! Upon arrival, Joe immediately took my vehicle in and got out of the shop with in no time. While the service is outstanding Star Auto Services is very reasonable compared to your local dealership. Quality plus high level of service, this exactly why I'm a loyal customer over the years. read more

Joe is awesome. My wife first visited this place when her check engine light came on. Joe ran diagnostics and couldn't get the problem to happen again, so instead of creating a problem and a charge, he just sent her on her way. He said, if that happens again come back, but there's no problem that our equipment can detect. He then changes a blinker lightbulb for free and sent her on her way. If I had to describe star Auto Services in a word, it'd be: honest. read more

My family has been going to Star Auto for years!!! If you guys have any problems with your car, please go here. The manager Joe will take great care of you! When I had to replace some things for my car, Joe took the time to explain what was wrong with my car and what car parts he needed for my car. My parents always come here to get an oil change as well. Even if Joe is busy, the most we've ever waited for the oil change was maybe an hour. He always takes care of us! Please go here! read more

Brought my 2006 mustang gt in for a starter issue. I knew going in the starter system had been modified w after market parts. It took a bit of time to diagnose the problem and Chase kept me well informed of the progress. Toby also helped me greatly to understand the problem of the amount of time it was taking. Through the process they were courteous and polite to me even when my unnecessary concerns created some tension. Kudos to Rob, Chase and Toby for getting the problem resolved in a timely manner even as I was throwing wrenches at them. I will certainly use them in the future. Thanks for your patience. read more

This place is a hidden gem! The Uber driver that dropped me off to retrieve my car said this guy is the best, and I totally agree. Needed a smog test along with my service. He did both! Wowww. Highly recommend this place. Came here for spark plug & oil changes, and was left super satisfied by service. It isn't high end by any means, but it's a no nonsense, no up-selling, no funny business kind of place. All of which are my kind of things. So instead of paying $1k at my Nissan dealership for a bunch of fluff they tried to make me think I need, I paid 1/5 of the price here for true necessities. Owner (I think) is this really nice young man. He calls you promptly whenever your car is done. He's super cool. read more

Joe and his staff do amazing work!!! All of a sudden my BMW 535i had a drivetrain malfunction and my car went into the dreaded "Limp Mode". The next day, I called Joe about the issue and had my car towed to his place. In less than 24 hours after dropping off my car. his team found the problem and repaired my car. Star Auto Services is honest, reliable, and reasonably priced. Joe was great at keeping me up to date on cost and repairs. Thank you Star Auto Services for helping me during this stressful situation. Over 10 years with this garage. Always honest, good pricing and courteous. Likely none better in the Valley.

Today, I visited specifically to repair my car tire's A-Premium 2 x Front Lower Ball Joint, costing $27.99 on Amazon. I showed them the picture of part and a video clip explaining the issue and solution. Unfortunately, they took advantage of our long-term relationship, insisting on changing brakes and other components, totaling around $800. Despite my request to focus on the Ball Joint, they removed all of the parts they insisted on after a lengthy wait from morning until 6 PM. They changed the rotor and the brake pads which was unnecessary, I told them that I had changed them six months ago. This not only exhausted my time but also led to an unfair and disappointing experience, ending with an unexpected $800 payment. If they had listened to my initial request, my total would have been approximately $350 (250 for the repair and $100 for oil change). I don't like to pay for their mistake as a business. It is simply unfair. read more

I came here for my Honda ac because it wasn't blowing cold no more. He hooked up my car and they told me the ac compressor was broken. If I wanted it fixed it would cost me 650$. I LEFT!. I went to work next Day in Fremont ca and have another mechanic near by their name is. KTauto repair. I told him I went to a near by mechanic and and they told me my compressor was broken. The mechanic at KT's auto repair told me it may not even be a compressor it just might need some service. So I left my vehicle for couple hours and he called me saying he got it back working. The total charge was 170$. And my ac is blowing super cold. Thanks god i left this mechanic in San Jose. Sometimes it's better to drive lil further for quality service. read more

I discovered Star Auto Services a few years ago through a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad that I was introduced to Joe. He's honest, priced very reasonably and does great quality work and is usually pretty fast quick. I'm usually so skeptical of mechanics because often times they gauge you and tell you something is wrong when that's not the case just to make money off of you. Not the case here. Definitely recommend Star Auto for anyone looking for an honest and knowledgeable mechanic! Thanks, Joe! read more

I love this place. I wont trust my Mercedes with anyone else. It's refreshing to see Mercedes technicians coming and going as they drop off parts. You know you're getting genuine Mercedes parts. Hell, the owner even purchases his motor oil from Mercedes. My car is newer so I've only needed maintenance work and each time I swing by on my lunch break and I'm in and out in an hour. The prices are about half of what the Mercedes dealership charges. Save your money and come here! UPDATE (2/19/08): Went in today since my mercedes was making a noise. I was full of anxiety anticipating the verdict, considering the noise seemed to be coming from the engine (yikes!) 'How on god's green earth am I gonna pay for this' I'm thinking as I pull in to Star auto. Joe comes out and pushes my oil sick in and the noise stops. (face palm) He just looked at me and smiled. Any other mechanic could have ripped me off easily! This is exactly why I drive from Alameda to Star Auto, I will always be a customer! Good honest service!! read more
