Bad Business and we had been going for years. My dish was good but everyone else said it was just ok. Sauce tastes like ketchup. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality exceeded our expectations. If you're in the Detroit area, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. I love the old school vibes, Frank Sinatra music playing, the elegant white table cloths and the wait staff in tuxedos. It feels like a restaurant out of the Sopranos. Our waiter was great! He informed us of the specials and we both ordered the eggplant parmigiana, which came with a salad, soup (we both had the clam chowder), fresh bread and butter. Our entrees also came with a side of potatoes and green beans. This is a lot of food! We also ordered drinks; a limoncello martini for her, one for me, and I also had a Long Island Iced tea. The martinis were delicious, but the tea was terrible. When the waiter brought out the bowl of fruit and walnuts at the end of our meal along with the check, I almost fell out of my chair!! The prices have drastically increased! I get that we're dealing with inflation, but come on!! $40 for each eggplant parm entree and $54 for 3 drinks!!! Seriously?! We also were not provided with an itemized invoice and had to request one which took forever. The prices on their website are also much cheaper than their current menus. Very deceiving. I used to love this restaurant but I will never be returning.

There's music, but it's not loud or intrusive and does not interfere with normal conversation. The menu is small but, I think, smart. The chef has created dishes that can be vegan or the diners can add shrimp, salmon, scallops, or chicken. The beef is halal, so there is an appeal for Mid Eastern diners, also. The pizza is thin crust, lots of options, and delicious. There are 4 or 5 really good dessert options. My reason for only 4 stars is that I think there could be a some other options. The starters offer an excellent variety, from oysters to steak tartar (so delicious), to a really nice burrata, but it would be nice to have a smaller sized salad--a house salad to begin the meal. In fact, I think last year there was a small salad with a delicious dressing. Also, offering a romaine option for the Caesar instead of only kale would be great. I'd have gotten that, but a large salad based on kale is a lot. Also, there are several truffle cream dishes like the short rib pappardelle and cappelletti stuffed with porcini mushrooms. I would have loved both with a different option for the sauce. Truffle is very popular, but the "spicy tomato blush" sauce is delicious and creamy and would be a great choice for either of those dishes. It's a white table cloth type of place where diners can either dress up or come casual. All in all, a very nice experience.

Fredi has the best pizza in Michigan…read more The guy is an artist and his pizza is his masterpiece. The crust is firm, crunchy, and flavorful and bready but light. The sauce is tart and a little sweet and there are small chunks of tomatoes here and there which infuse even more flavor with each bite. If you hold up a slice for a little CSI: Pizza action, you're going to see a firm "V" shape on the side profile with a slight bend towards the tip of the slice. As far as I'm concerned, the classics are the way to go. I would say "The Don" is the overall crowd pleaser with a little more cheese than the basic pep but I think I've permanently been converted to the "Moe Greene". It's simple, there's plenty of cheese, and you get to really enjoy the bread and sauce. The "Fredo" is also good if you want something a little different. It has a small dusting of hot sauce and a generous amount of diced chicken and a drizzling of ranch. The chicken and hot sauce are well balanced so you don't feel like you're chugging a bottle of Franks with your pizza. They've added outdoor seating since opening, the indoor wait area can get a little crowded, the wait times can be a little long during peak hours, and the drive to Melvindale isn't short. All those caveats aside, it's absolutely worth the trip and the wait.
