They had a big banner hanging out front that said they sold Buffalo's famous sponge candy, so I knew I had to stop in. This small family-owned candy shop looks like it's been a neighborhood staple for years. It's been open since 1947! The sweet older lady at the counter was very welcoming to us as tourists, and even offered plenty of free samples for us to try. Now that I've tried it, I will say that sponge candy isn't my favorite. But we wanted something uniquely Buffalo to take home, and ended up purchasing a few variety bags. They also sell chocolates in pretty little designs and cookies too, all handmade! I couldn't resist a flower-shaped chocolate on a stick, which set me back about $2.50. I enjoyed it on the plane and it was very good chocolate. If you want to support a local business and shop local, Ko-Ed Candies is the place! There's limited street parking and it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so be aware that it may be difficult to find a spot on busy days.

Those boxes were gift-wrapped, but the liquid ruined (warped) the boxes and the wrapping paper. I let Watson's know. Their response was pretty much "Hey, if the chocolate is ok, it's your problem. That's the risk of buying chocolate over the summer". And the ironic thing is I wasn't expecting them to refund any money or replace the chocolate. I was letting them know because I think someone who packed my order made an epic goof up and I thought they might want to avoid that in the future. Well, instead I'll be avoiding them.
