Why this isn't a thing everywhere, I don't know. The combination is a winning one. I had their Charlie Chaplin ice cream, which is apparently based on their confection of the same name. Chocolate, coconut, cashews, and marshmallow are another stellar result of their kitchen. The person behind the counter was friendly and efficient - a great match for the establishment itself. I was visiting people that live in the Elmwood neighborhood, and I envy them having a place like Watson's within walking distance of their home.

Drizzled in home-made choclate and caramel sauces and topped with freshly whipped cream, the ABT sundae is a decadent tribute to the fine art of creamery perfection. For a great after dessert, I would recommend walking down to Sweet Jenny's on Spring Street just off of Main. I've done this on many occasions and their ice cream is always a delight. There's usually a long line, but it goes really fast and the service is with a smile. I like a nice scoop of strawberry ice cream, like the one you see in the picture. As an added bonus, if you get there before 6pm, there is a comic book store inside on the upper level! I scored a Dr Strange #6 from 1974. So grab your ice cream, and sit in the shade and read your comic books to the sound of a waterfall at Glen Park located just behind Sweet Jenny's. There's nothing like it.

They had a big banner hanging out front that said they sold Buffalo's famous sponge candy, so I knew I had to stop in. This small family-owned candy shop looks like it's been a neighborhood staple for years. It's been open since 1947! The sweet older lady at the counter was very welcoming to us as tourists, and even offered plenty of free samples for us to try. Now that I've tried it, I will say that sponge candy isn't my favorite. But we wanted something uniquely Buffalo to take home, and ended up purchasing a few variety bags. They also sell chocolates in pretty little designs and cookies too, all handmade! I couldn't resist a flower-shaped chocolate on a stick, which set me back about $2.50. I enjoyed it on the plane and it was very good chocolate. If you want to support a local business and shop local, Ko-Ed Candies is the place! There's limited street parking and it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so be aware that it may be difficult to find a spot on busy days.

The chocolate is smooth, creamy and perfectly dark or perfectly milk - either and both, as they are true to their names! The orange chocolate was "just a bit orange' - it isn't ORANGE chocolate, and we saw right off why this is a fave! The sponge candy - some wrapped in orange chocolate, some in dark and milk chocolate, and some sponge is even peanut butter! We were given generous sized samples, and bought enough for us and as gifts! The prices were all great, and considering the quality - VERY reasonable! The candy shop has truffles, candy by the piece / pound and just so much to choose from. We LOVED the smaller sized pieces, as we wanted to try a good number and we did! ALL have been excellent! Okay, the staff - they too could not be better! One young man said if we had any questions, just ask. He was IN THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY! But I DID ask him, he came out and gave me great info.
