Its funny how google and yelp says this location is open 24/7 yet I just came up to the front and there was a hand written sign saying "closed until 5am" yet there was a worker just sitting behind the cash register doing nothing. Seems if this place was closed they would actually be working in the form of stocking supplies and such. I wouldn't bet that 7/11 would pay employees to just sit in an empty store, with all the lights on, doing nothing for hours. If that's the case, though, then where do I apply for a job? LMFAO. But for real, so not cool. Some of us wake up early to work and in a rush the 711 by our bus stop is the quickest bite to eat in a pinch. I started to go to this location always had issues with the people that work there , not really speaking English but most of all them hating their jobs we all know a 7-Eleven as a place to buy junkfood because basically that's obviously all they carry.... I noticed that in their pictures looks like they were all put up by the owner trying to make the place look like a decent place to go to but here is a huge example they're green juices that they show they're not green juices anybody who drinks green juices and buys a 7-Eleven "supposed green juice" would find out that it's pure sugar water has nothing to do with green juice, they just must use some coloring and they put that with apple juice and lots of high fructose corn syrup, don't trust anything that 7-Eleven sells its pure junk food, which means that good luck you can't get anything decent here...... The reason I'm giving it One Stars is because the people that work here are very hateful if you buy something here that is rotten or expired or broken this place will not help you out they don't stand behind their products once you hand over your money that's it if you were charged too much tough for you if you say hey you didn't give me my change back, they'll tell you to come back someday when some other person is working and ask that particular person for some help this is what they do rather than handling it themselves this place will overcharge you for what you buy they won't give you your change back and their excuse is that the owner is not there and you're out of luck. So it is what it is these people they don't like their job and they don't like people some people come from other countries obviously and certain people from around the world they don't care for Americans they're only here because we offer them an easier life but when they work with the public it shows how they feel..... most Americans will accept anybody but certain foreigners will never accept Americans, again they only live here for all the advantages that we offer them but in turn they dump on us and hate on us all I can tell you is be aware and if you know of a better 7-Eleven to go to I would recommend that I would DEFINITELY not recommend this location. read more

This review goes out to Postmates not necessarily 7-Eleven. I wrote Postmates of poison pen letter telling them about their delivery driver, or should I say delivery rider. The delivery person was on a bike with a basket on it. I ordered two sodas some chips and most of all a pizza from 7-Eleven. Well with no trunk or no back seat this ding-a-ling thought it was best to stuff the pizza into his basket on end so everything inside the pizza box had them slid down to one side of the box on the inside and smashed the whole pizza up. First he tried to play this I don't understand English crap. But when I started getting angry that he was playing me like this he started talking a little bit better saying that was his first delivery and all of this. I asked him who told you to deliver a pizza that way.? Where have you ever seen a pizza delivered on end to where the pizza could fold apart or whatever and break inside the box? Who told you to do that? He kept going with this it was my first delivery crap so I finally got pissed and sent him away with everything back to the store. Now little did he know he tried to call the store and tell them that I refused the delivery but he was actually calling me and I told him again you don't deliver a pizza like that stupid. So I wrote Postmates a letter and told them about themselves and they try to tell me that I need to go to the place that I actually bought the stuff from and tell them about it. Well I'm going to tell you like this 7-Eleven did not send that boy out of that store with a box in his hand sideways. They didn't do that. I actually sent pictures and everything. The same pictures that I'm about to show you right now down at the bottom here. They tried to tell me to go back to 7-Eleven and tell them that they sold me a broken Pizza that was stuff to one side of the box and cold. It took the dude about 2 hours to get to where I am and it's a 10 minute drive. Oh I was so pissed. When I read the letter that they sent me I asked them in a rebuttal so you're sticking with your delivery person that I need to go back to 7-Eleven and tell them about it. That he did nothing wrong he did everything by the book is that what you're telling me Postmates? And so here I am now and to tell you the truth Postmates has been sliding for quite a while now. When I first started using Postmates about a year ago it was fast, the drivers were polite, they were quick and they deserve the tip that they got if they got one. Now, they're an hour late, rude, your food is cold your drinks are warm and they don't care. I suggest using anybody else except Postmates. Simply for the fact that their service has gone down so far it's not even worth the effort to try to get your order right or to get it there anytime or anything. It would just be best to just go with another company that does the deliveries because you will get the service you expect and not the service that you would get if you were a bad person like I did on that one thanks Postmates. Oh, and nobody paid me back for that $15 mash up either. Say no to Postmates...or you'll wish you did. read more

This 7-Eleven has the Amazon lockers! That in itself makes it great! They have a Red Box machine outside and a gas pump station. Wasn't the cleanest 7-eleven wasn't the most dirty. I've been here maybe 3-4 times now. Parking is tight here as there are not many spots available. Street parking is no better. The drivers in this part of town suck...I've been cut off, honked at for giving the right of way, and nearly hit a few times by careless motorists. All in this lot or just on the street by the lot here. Be weary. People just cannot drive in Hillcrest at all. Also note, the exit along 4th Avenue is one way only. I've seen people go against traffic a few times having to u turn out fast. They should really put a sign by the driveway exit as the only sign is at the corner stoplight, which if you are not paying attention, you will miss it. Gas is available at this 7-11. The store is clean overall and there's an Amazon locker pick up, which is convenient for people in North Park/Hillcrest in general. read more

Always been a big fan of this 7-Eleven. The folks working here have always been super nice... and they have a wide selection of Go-Go Taquitos. Slurpee texture has always been spot on, and they're never out of Icehouse beer or Bartles and James wine coolers. Cigs? Sha! P-Funks for the win, son! Plenty of parking, but watch out if you situate your car on the street. You'll get a ticket if you don't throw money in the meter. read more

I think it's hilarious how many people have reviewed this 7-11 and talk about being from NYC and missing the Bodegas there. Honestly, that's the number one thing I miss about living in NYC. Cash only and the price of my goods changing daily depending on the person working...the glory days. But, now I'm in San Diego and let me just say as a grocery/convenience store junkie, this place is AMAZING. It's spotless, has the nicest employees, and has everything you could ever want. After drinking at least 3 venti coffees a day at this location, I went to Starbucks and almost puked when I ordered an americano. WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!?!?!? 7-11 provides me with so many options and I can pick and choose as I please. Hazelnut and pumpkin coffee with a little bit of hot chocolate, extra whip cream, marshmallows, and some chocolate and vanilla sprinkles is my own personal crack concoction. Did I mention it's only $2 for the venti and I get every 7th free?!! Seriously though, even if you don't get my above cracktail, just go to buy something and interact with the staff. This 7-11 is great during the day, but whoever the guy is that works nights sometimes is gross and really rude to customers and says the nastiest things to female patrons. I was in the other night and a woman asked for a hot taquito and he told her he could give her one all night... tonight I came in to use the atm and had a rite aid bag with me and he acted as if I had stolen something. My friend from out of town was really off put by him but I have learned to ignore him for the most part. It's a 7-Eleven, so you'd almost expect it to be dirty... but it's in Hillcrest so it's definitely one of the cleanest 7-Eleven's I've ever been to. Don't really come here for gas because the 4 or so pumps they have are a little embarrassing and are typically taken... however, a quick snack or bathroom fix is always taken care of here. They're open 24/7 and a Redbox can be found inside. read more

I work down the street from this 7-11 and it is my saving grace. I really enjoy the friendly faces when walking into this 7-11. Since I go there so often, the staff knows me pretty well and know the things that I like. When I walk through the door, they seem to make sure that the things that I want behind the register are always in stock. They have a really good sense of what it means for a convenience store to offer above and beyond customer service. No matter where you choose to spend your money, it is always nice to be treated like a valued customer or a member of the family. I will continue to come back to this store time and time again because the level of customer service and the staff's friendliness is not matched by any other convenience store that I have been to. Even though there can be a tendency for some people to hang around this location, the employees are very good about keeping the store very clean and keeping the parking lot clean. I live in Hillcrest and have been going to this location for years. Sure the location has it's faults but they have never been about the company. Walking to the store I prepare myslef to enjoy the spectacle of drunks and homeless surrounding the store. However,it's the employees and the owner that make me come back to this location day in and day out minus the old codger. Yesterday, however was different. After paying for my favorite cup of coffee as I do 5 sometimes 6 days a week the old guy working behind the counter was especially rude to me. My deepest apologies to the rest of the staff for the 1 star review but something has to change about his rude attitude and unprofessional behavior. 9 days later I change my review from 1 star to 5. I love this 7-11 for 3 reasons: 1. I can pick up my stuff from Amazon from the locker 24/7 and the UPS guy won't drop my stuff off at some random address. 2. I can get cheap entertainment through Redbox; You can even reserve online if you have the app. 3. I love slushies. Nothing special about these particular slushies, they are delicious as always, but last time the guy charged me for a small when I clearly filled up a medium! (So I saved 20 cents?) Really, it's the little things that make me happy. PS: they usually have the cheapest gas in Hillcrest, although sometimes it is hard to fit 2 cars in at the pumps. read more

I like this place because of its convenience. It's one of the only 7-11's I've been to with a gas station. It's the perfect pit stop to fill up your tank and grab yourself a cold soda and hot sandwich. The staff is always so friendly. I like this one. It's not the best, but certainly not the worst. The store is organized, they carry cheap champagne, they have this certain flair to their customer service. I once went in, and the guy behind the counter went off on this tangent about the UPS guy being really hot, but a total weirdo. He was my UPS guy, too, and I'd never noticed how weird he was until that day. I still smirk when I see him, because truth be told, he is pretty odd now that I pay attention. Like this place because it's in walking distance from my place and I like the people that work here also they have been fixing the place up so looks alot nicer than the other 7-11's I have been too (East county I'm talking to you!) Also they have a wine rack in the back and if you don't see the wine that you like they have a sheet where you can request a wine that you would want. This is a 7-11. All 7-11s are the same. All of them sell overpriced junk food and are generally depressing places to frequent. Except this one -- this one has a Redbox in front! Wooo hooo! A Redbox means DVD rental for $1. I repeat --- an evening of entertainment for ONE DOLLAR. Hello?! Awesomeness! Right there! By comparison, movie tickets for two at the Landmark Cinema cost $24. 7-Eleven has been around forever and each and everyone of us I'm sure has visited this establishment located on your nearest corner sometimes more of a gateway to heaven when you have the munchies or maybe your old school and need a slurpee. I think the nice thing through the years is you know exactly what you're going to get yes they've added Amazon drop boxes kiosk for Redbox but for the most part it's still the same quick service feel good convenient store. The one I frequent here in Hillcrest always has a great staff of people working day and night the only thing that is sometimes troublesome buyer beware is the amount of unfortunate down on your luck people hanging out outside. It can be downright scary but I have to say the employees inside do their best to discourage any hooligans from causing trouble in front of the store. So if you're a gummy bear Coke Zero lover like me or you have a different type of happiness at the bottom of the bag 7-Eleven is your place to shop. read more

I used to love this 7-11. However, I now have just lukewarm feelings. Most of the staff has changed over the last 10 months. They did some great renevations. However, the staff isn't nearly as warm and friendly as they once were. They still are friendly, but it's different. There's only one staff member that has been there the entire last 2 years that I've been going to this 7-11. She is just as friendly as ever and I love seeing her. Although the rest of the staff smiles and chats, they're all business. A 7-11 like this has a lot of local repeat customers. They should be way more accomodating and friendly to their daily visitors. read more

It's so convenient and even has a Redbox place in front to rent DVDs. The problem exists more around the staff and the homeless. Because of the amount of people walking around, Hillcrest is a natural place for homeless to ask for spare change. People have hard lives, so I have no issue with being asked. But since they tend to hang around the door, the exterior looks messy and unwelcoming. The staff is very hit and miss. they seem to rotate through good and bad employees. Sometimes I'm acknowledge wit ha smile when I walk in and the check out process goes quickly, and other times it looks like the staff just can't be bothered. That goes towards keeping the inside presentable as well. I realize that it's not easy for 7-Eleven to hire top notch employees all of the time, but when they don't, it's really obvious from both the look of the place and the treatment received. read more

There is an old man who works there who is generally quite rude but I pass that off as him just being old and miserable, but I was waiting to buy cigarettes and there was an Eastern European woman in front of me who was asking for cigarettes and he basically told her to "use your words better" and then attempted to humiliate her saying he couldn't see where she was pointing. (The cigarettes are far from where customers can see clearly what ones are what anyway). As an immigrant myself I found it completely disrespectful that someone was trying to speak English to the best of their abilities was humiliated and made fun of.
